I don't understand unbanning solemn vow. Normally I believe weapons should be unbanned if possible but I feel like the solemn vow only lowers the skill expression of medic and is bad for the game for the following reason:

  1. It acts as a crutch for poor uber tracking/damage calls, making them less necessary and less useful (although still important).
  2. While it is true that at high levels of play it won't matter as much because everyone will have great uber tracking/damage calls, and that it is not a true substitute for uber tracking, it still only gets rid of situations where that skill expression exists while adding no new interesting decisions/strategies to the game.
  3. I think that at 90% of levels of play it would be better to run this weapon than ubersaw, and that almost no medics (but I am not a medic main so I could be wrong) get ubersaws with enough frequency to make up for the situations where uber tracking/damage calls could be significantly improved with solemn vow.
  4. I think ubersaw/amputator both give interesting in game decisions/scenarios, and that the solemn vow in my opinion being just better than either will get rid of these interesting scenarios.

Villa does not seem anywhere close to ready for league play, the inclusion of it seems pretty forced and just a reaction to the sentiment that "granary is bad and needs to go". Adding clearcut and bagel makes much more sense since the mappool either needed more koth maps to accompany product, or none at all.

This seems like common sense but changes to the mappool should only be made when there are maps that are clear upgrades to the ones that are on the chopping block, not just because they are new and the "least bad" of all the new maps.

I mean, from what I can see, even at the highest levels it fucks around with uber tracking. The solemn vow is a "must-run" tier weapon, in the same vein as the crossbow and escape plan. The thing about uber tracking is that it assumes your opponent is building properly. With the solemn vow, you no longer have to worry about that variable. You now should always know if you have ad, even, or disad. Sure, the meds need to have line of sight on each other, but that happens organically often enough that it will be a factor. I see us having some fucking weirdo situations where we have teams trying to make room for their med to peek, trying to make sure they still have ad before pushing.

I also think it's unfortunate that teams will also no longer make the mistake of pushing when they think they have ad, but don't, since the other team built more efficiently. In my brain, changing the game so that teams no longer make mistakes like that is going to contribute to more stalemates.

Seems like the maps were added based upon the opinions on "someone". What if the poll was extended to all RGL players instead of invite only players? How would that affect your outcome for maps?
I see it as lower level players dislike harder maps (gran, bland, reckoner) but i think many higher level people might enjoy them more than these maps that looked like they were shoved into the rotation last second.

I agree with this, the admins love doing this process where they say "ok so we're removing granary and explicitly replacing it with one of the maps we pre-selected to be in this new map scrim thing, of those maps which was your favorite" and pretending it is the equivalent of voting for a map change when

1) they have no proof people actually wanted to get rid of granary

2) they have no proof people would've selected that specific map to do so out of ALL possible options

3) they don't even have proof people prefer that map to granary in a 1v1 matchup

I hate this logic of starting with assumptions like "the maps need to change every season" or "the ratio of custom maps needs to go up" as if they're just facts without interrogating who agrees with you and to what extent, the best admins are glorified pollsters when it comes to this stuff, just sayin!

p.s. detonator and scorch shot are total cancer, good luck dealing with those ape weapons

Console-bring tri back

Coming from an ex admin from Europe, even if you want to mean this in a good way it is still not the most pleasant thing to hear for the person in question if the personal candle flame has already been blown out due to lack of interest. If you disagree with me, then I want to see you mod this place again.

Some of these changes are very questionable though, don't get me wrong on that

Can we get the actual stats for map preference and promod stuff released publicly please? I dont see any reason not to show people, I'm curious what percentage voted for scout speed or arrow fix for example. Not like other stuff that RGL has decided to keep from the public where it's protecting someone's identity who will be harassed lol.

So what's the endgame to all of this anyways? Is this still all under the delusion that if its just changed, more people will play (12 year old game BTW)? Or is it some bizarre power trip (b4nny illuminati) or what? If it's the 1st I would really love for someone to do a study into the people not currently playing and see if any of these unbans will actually make them play, because RGL does love its #factsandnumbers so much. If it's the latter, is anyone honestly surprised? It's not like any of this shit was predicted and nothing was done about it anyways.

if more people play this season it's definitely because of the epic unbans and not because people can't leave their homes. the #factsandnumbers don't lie dude

the solemn vow only works like the amputator and you can see medic % when you actually have it pulled out, if that makes a difference at all. also ik we're on a nostalgia trip with the scout speed nerf but badlands is an ass map besides mid. last is the worst point in the game.
but why does only invite get bagel and we have to play ass_clearcut
