To me this is the absolute perfect link between casual and competitive. Game is only like 10% different from a pub server (and a good 10%, nospread etc), and the rank/elo incentive is huge for making casual players realize that tryharding this game is super super fun.

I'm not 100% convinced on the faceit point incentive or the rewards but because they are pushing it so hard, I assume it worked well in CSGO, and I can imagine it will work on the casual playerbase (but tbh I am out of touch with what they are like these days)

this effort makes much more sense than the previous 6s one. It seems much more aware I wonder which tf2 insider gave them advice or if its just faceit_mikey or whatever.

I think they recycled their CS UI, you can have 6, you just need to invite them through the friends list rather than the funny + button.

there needs to be an actual incentive behind winning. ive had games where id rather just let them full hold me so that i can get my 9 points and scram to the next game since i have no reason to waste effort or time on a game where their team has 8 engies, medics, and heavies. itd be nice if i had some kind of incentive behind playing well. when i havent been worrying about getting points though ive really liked these pubs, i havent gotten this experience of competitiveness in pubs since around 2013.

They force the updaterate/cmdrate to 66 and as a 128 tickrate server, this is always a bad idea; Just set the maximum updaterate/cmdrate to 128 and leave the other limiting cvars alone (sv_minrate, sv_maxrate, sv_minupdaterate, sv_mincmdrate, sv_client_min_interp_ratio, and sv_client_max_interp_ratio). They enforce a minimum rate (or bandwidth) of 128 Kilobytes (or 1 Megabit), which is way too high! Can someone tell the server operators to remove these limits (by setting sv_minupdaterate and sv_minrate to 0)?
