JynxiiDidn't your team's warning for flaming also get removed? Along with other major warnings in the past?

Just to clarify this situation, all 4 teams in playoffs this season including ourselves were eligible for minor warnings for flaming. However I would say that Starkie saying "lick my boot" and "honestly the worst players ive ever seen, you shouldnt be on the same server as me" is not the same as yllen from the bin black saying "I hate n******" in their game vs SVIFT that was casted on TFTV1. That's probably the most extreme example that was never punished by the admins, because unfortunately 50% of the admins in ETF2L are more or less part of the circlejerk that goes around being obnoxious in games.

When we contacted the admins about their decision to give us a minor warning and dock 10% of our prizepool because it happened during the playoffs, obviously we were going to challenge them when we've seen other teams in playoffs say much worse. The same game that we got our warning in, the bin black were being sexist, racist, aswell as abusing the pause rule twice. It wasn't punished because we didn't report them to the admins, although the admins went through the exact same chatlogs & stv demos.

If the admins didn't backpedal and decide to sweep all of this under the rug by removing our warning, I'm sure both bin teams would've accumulated enough warnings to get them disqualified from playoffs.

deguAt any point neither of us have made jokes about sexual abuse. Should I have made clear that my picture referred to the "harassment" (people just being mean to her) and not the fact that she was a victim of a crime? Yes I have.
Does listing of mean words said to the person help anyone? No it does not. Words are easy to ignore on the internet and that's what I think everyone should do if they don't like what other people say.
I have empathy for her but in my opinion she's addressing it completely wrong way,
Mine and Pred's tweets were clearly jokes, maybe in poor taste, maybe insensitive, maybe unfunny, maybe fucking hilarious. Humour is a subjective thing. But that's what they are, jokes and words.
The worst thing is that there is more hate towards me and Pred than to the culprit. You are offended by mine and Pred's actions only if you choose to, you can just write us off as dicks and shitty human beings and move on with your day. Everyone should be disgusted by the fact uberchain has been a victim not by 2 people on the internet not being nice to her when she talked about it.
I distinguish between the statements where someone was just mean to her and where she was genuinely being abused or harassed and I don't think these 2 matters should be even considered to be equally bad or revolting things or even listed together. I support her in getting justice and getting her life back on the track after being a victim of the crime.
If you focus on bad things in your life your life is going to be bad. If you look at thousands of people giving genuine support and love and then see 2 people being dicks and making shitty jokes and what you focus on is the later you are going to have a hard life.

Do we deserve to be criticized for what we did? Yes we do. Do we deserve more attention than uberchain, people supporting her and the culprit? No we do not. But we are getting it.

I'm surprised some people find out now that half of the prem players in EU are incredibly toxic and do not hesitate showing that off publicly. Most people just don't care at all or believe that being in premiership makes them superior in any way so they are probably in their right to cuss.

There is also another thing that I've convinced myself into long time ago and turns out I'm right for the most part, some people here are absolutely fine with themselves swearing at people and teasing them (probably due to their upbringing but who knows), mostly looking at some brits but applies for others as well. I will quote April who made his point on tf2c as an example

April...if you bring up the fact that I changed my name to include his team tag, and that that is considered toxic behavior, just ban me from this website forever. Because I won't be playing in a service that won't even allow people to change their names to tease someone.

The topic is irrelevant to the discussion, but the message isn't

April's unban request actually led to a permanent ban due to this last paragraph that I quoted. I guess that's an example of a finally fair tf2c ban and an example of how we should treat this kind of behaviour, right?

smzipeople were banned on etf2l for racism before btw e.g. darn and taimou

I think it's important to note that Darn ragequit an official match that was being streamed after those insults and recieved a one match ban.
Taimou had already been warned and permanently banned from the forum and then used team names for further insults.

I mean at this point we're so far past the intention of uberchain's tweets it's not even funny anymore.
If you want ETF2L to police everyone's twitter then glhf sifting through that shit, but just parsing all logs and banning all ETF2L players who have ever insulted anyone automatically would be easier.

Neither of this actually fixes any of the issues.

Shittalk has always been a part of competitive sports, have any of you actually ever played anything else to any sort of level.

You will find shit talk everywhere, let's not create an environment where you can't call someone shit in a server because it might hurt someone's feelings.

It is actually a viable tactic if you know the other team contains a tilter.

That being said, the edgy boi humour displayed by the thirdies on twitter was in very poor taste, Pred is indefensible but wouldn't it be a bit much to perma ban someone for telling someone to log off?

I think the point in the OP is that degu, in addition to the relatively minor "log off" joke, also condones Pred's comment by liking it.

Ombrackwhy are people discovering today that some part of this community is aids ? this baffles me

Been playing TF2 for like 7 years, and meet more than enough people to say that this is so true. I'm not gonna say anything about my actions on when I was 18~ ish and so on, because I could agree as well that I wasn't acting mature, but this community has more issues that everyone thinks even years after. At that age, I thought if someone is insulting or in general hurting, it's childish stupidity.
Nowadays everyone is judging everyone, it's like fucking hunger games. Even lovable tf2 people shit sometimes people on streams and so on, when I once stood up, I got a comment ''It's internet, if You can't handle the flame, if You get sad/hurt about insults, You shouldn't play this game'' .
I stopped playing pugs for few last months, because I prioritized my health. Joining a pug, and playing badly, you gonna be called out even more than You actually deserved. Tf2 was a fun game to play and I stopped playing it for few months because it was stressing af. Most of the people don't enjoy time, it's competition.
Being a girl, I never had a calm year, all the time random callouts of being slut/bitch and so on. I would at least understand if at least from all rumors I heard would even few would be true and shit, but people make more rumors and shittalks than their head can handle.
The random hate of people to each other, is ridiculous, and it's all the time goes to ''it's banter jokes'' (I'm not talking best friends banter and shit).
Banning 2 guys, for saying, tbh, shit words, won't change their personality. This attention they got, I hope it will be lesson, not for them only, other mouthbreathers as well, but for everyone as well as for myself.
All I wish to people who got hurt, to get a harder skin. At least it worked for me, when I started to work with more than 40 random people each day, because in every community between something bad, you can find someone good and it's truly worth trying.
To Uberchain, girl, keep your head up, I know this shit hurts, but You need to find strength to move on from negativity.
And all in all, never ever, a happy person, gonna try to bring other person down.

Nickstonhttps://twitter.com/uberchain/status/1026240692102676485 Uberchain's mentioned she's not ready to do so yet.

Please understand it takes a tremendous amount of courage to speak up about something like this even anonymously.

We are expending a dramatic amount of energy witch-hunting two morons who posted offensive online comments. People are getting up in arms and calling for them (and others like them) to be banned.

However, I'm a pragmatist. For as offensive as two online comments can be, they are not in any way comparable to blackmail, emotional manipulation and sexual abuse. I am being downfragged for considering genuinely traumatizing experiences to be worth more than online comments and debate over whether or not someone using the nickname "nig of the nog" is ban-worthy racism. Do you understand my frustration at this whole circus?

For as long Uberchain refuses to mention names, these people will continue to wander through our community unharmed and unbanned, free of any persecution and free to sexually abuse another person in the future. My aim is to bring these people to justice and this can only be done if we actually identify them. Failure to do this is not only a failure in justice but also negligence which can lead to the abuse of more victims. No, I will not sit down and accept this. I will not allow actual monsters to get to sneak away from the spotlight because we're all channeling our rage to internet comments. One is not like the other.

If this paints me as unsympathetic then so be it. True sympathy means wanting to bring justice to the offenders and prevent future harm.

There's a difference between isolated incidents where an individual says something offensive, where it can be hard to decide on the right repercussions if any at all, and then there's recurring offenders which should be dealt with much more harshly. If someone has demonstrated that they will do or say harmful things on more than one occasion, a zero tolerance policy makes sense to me.

I shouldn't ever have to think "I'm glad idiots x y and z aren't coming to lan" because lan is where this community's members engage with each other the most, and if there's any feeling of apprehension about individuals being a part of the community at it's most inclusive time, why would we accept that elsewhere?

I'm not ecstatic about wanting certain people to be excluded but there's just a limit to how much shitty behavior I can witness in a person before I stop giving them the time of day.

FuxxNickstonhttps://twitter.com/uberchain/status/1026240692102676485 Uberchain's mentioned she's not ready to do so yet.

U were getting downfragged cause u didnt read through what uberchain said, and again, Uberchain said she is not yet ready to name names

Uberchain had the courage to speak up about traumatizing events that happened to her, she can also mention the names of the perpetrators. They already know she's speaking about them, she could let us know so we can apply justice. If she's so willing to talk about extremely personal details about her life then she can name the offenders. I'm also not particularly happy about the whole "I won't name my abusers" spiel when she immediately follows it with "I wish society was better".

Well I guess I live in La La land where the problem is with the collective and that we're somehow meant to telekinetically fix the problem. It's a problem of specific individuals, not this mystical "society" thing. Let us fix it.

lol @Muuki you went from 3 upfrags to 0 in 5 seconds.

"My virtue signalling 'there there' pat on the back is worth more than actually bringing justice"

You people are disgusting.

Well to help others in a similiar situation to hers and make them not feel alone, which she addressed multiple times and also to call attention to these things happening and raise general awareness
I myself have not been a victim of sexual abuse but i am more than sure that its difficult discussing these things so please try and be sympathetic
