DivineATThat's not what I'm pointing out. If RGL is gonna ban software input automation/macros and specifically mention Snap Tap, then why doesn't the script version of Snap Tap get banned as well?
Perfect strafes 100% of the time with 0 skill... Wait that sounds exactly like 1-tick ctap scripts lol
This is my largest problem with it as well. It's pretty clear to me that they are being incredibly inconsistent on this manner alone because they know that banning null movement would be massively unpopular and they think that they can 'get away' with banning the ctap script. But they are basically the same in this regard.
FWIW I'm not suggesting they ban null movement, I just think it is pretty ironic that considering the whole student govt larp that RGL loves to do they are hilariously inconsistent when it comes to mods/scripts. Like the use at your own risk mods section still exists. What the hell does that even mean lmfao. Metal footsteps are only """allowed""" because they didn't want to ban exa (which I would've respected more tbh), something tells me that if more admins were soldier mains maybe the 1 tick script would've been use at your own risk!

I'm fine with this if they also ban other movement input automation scripts such as null movement and crouch jump.
People should have to press all the keys for movement.
I realize this game isn't cs, but my views align with this post from Valve

We currently don't know why they banned 1-tick c-tap scripts.

I already addressed this though the phrasing in the rules is kind of confusing, the problem with Snap Tap seems to be the fact that it is a third party tool or application that can influence inputs in that manner. It has nothing to do with whether it can emulate null-movement script or not. This is not pointing out any hypocrisy as is suggested by both images. The wording should definitely be changed though.

bottom one seems very relevant to make known. A lot of people use the original sound vpk atm
the original having the stock launcher's sound vpk affects your pov only by the way, soldiers shooting their rockets nearby are entirely unaffected. why did they feel the need to specify this when it gives no advantage at all???

That Valve post was in reference to null movement. I think c-taps are closer related to jump throw binds than null movement as null movement is something you cant do in game without commands, but c-taps are.
The problem is that Valve made jump throws easier when porting to CS 2. Making the jump throw insanely easier for players of ALL skill levels. C-taps which is a helpful tool to introduce newer players to comp have not been made easier and the barrier to entry is even higher to enter comp and play soldier.

Surely this should be a full blanket ban for all client-side audio changes (metal footsteps, spy decloak sounds etc.) instead of just weapon sounds

SO BASED of RGL to CUT OFF this horrible script affecting the great skill ceiling of this game, MILLIONS and BILLIONS of people can now compete fairly! Scripting SoyBoys, if you're nothing without the script, then maybe u dont deserve it . Lmfao. Cope.
It's good that soldier has a higher entry barrier. dont need any more pencil counter jumping dogs relying on this kind of bullshit instead of learning the game. You can make excuses that this script helps "with your fingers" after "hours of jumping", maybe address the root cause like drinking so much soylent your blood circulation thins.

scratchhwhat an awesome change that will definitely effect the game, lets also never ban the loch and load and market gardener because they are really fair and fun to play against <3
it is interesting to me that the loch is allowed in 6s still even after years of people complaining about it, but in highlander it got basically quickbanned after 1 season of invite demos starting to abuse it. and its not like the loch's extra sentry damage meant anything really, it was banned for the same reasons it's stupid in 6s- being incredibly hard to dodge long range spam

DavyCI don't really give a shit if it's banned or not but I just want to point out something funny. The people getting the most butthurt about this are all in the same passtime pug circlejerk.
wow, the gamemode with the most ctaps has the most people upset about banning something that makes ctaps easier

i think setting up external scripts and class files and such actually raises the barrier more than learning a timing based in game mechanic.

I wonder, what would be the best way to make c-taps accessible? Because don't people want control over if they're c-tapping or not? What would the ideal knockback be? The theoretical maximum? Or a reasonable value of a normal c-tap?

The best way to make them accessible would be to include as an optional add on for mastercomms just like null movement, and you could even do the same for resupply binds. My apologies for asking you to do more work when you already do so much, but your website is super easy to use and I'm pretty sure almost everyone who is even interested in competitive play uses mastercomms already

I don't get it, so what I get so far is that:
- 1 tick ctap bind is banned because people "would not be able to perform [them] without the script"
- snap tap and other keyboard software equivalents that "override" previously pressed movement keys with new ones are also banned for the same reason
- null movement script which does the same thing is not banned?

I'm more asking from the context of a game feature, similar to how jump throws in CS2 were mentioned in this thread. What would people want the game to do and how would the game tell?

How will this script ban be enforced? How will admin know if you are using a ctap script?
