How do people play with a slow sensitivity?

I have been playing Valorant alot in the mean time with my friends and I decided to convert my Val sens to tf2 and this is fucking atrocious.
My original sens in tf2 was 4.75 with 800 dpi (Used to be 1200).
Now it is 2.70 with 800 dpi and this is awful.
Maybe it's just me being freaked out by the change but it is impossible to hit all the shots I used to.

if you don't like playing kovaaks or aim trainers and stuff as most people don't, a good way to get used to new sens, lower or higher, is just playing source movement modes like surf bhop or jump. surf especially feels like a very natural aim trainer to help you learn to smooth out your aim and get comfortable with pretty much any movement you would need to make in game.

I have a small mouse pad. I liked using high sensitivity because my thought process was if I can get really good with a fast sensitivity it will be rewarding in the long run.

you don't need to have your sens be the same for every game you play, just use whatever is comfortable for you in tf2 and use what is comfortable in valorant

Surfing is criminally underrated.

imo having 2 different sensitivities for different games isn't a huge deal for games like this. you're more than likely never going to aim in valorant like you do in tf2 (crosshair placement and aiming with movement vs rocket jumping and going for directs), so they don't necessarily need to be 1:1. That being said I play 10in/360 in both games (and I'd probably be way better at valorant if I doubled it).

also yea it'll take a lot of hours to get rocket muscle memory like you have on your old sens, tf2 is the only game that plays like it does. EVERY time I've tried switching sense in tf2 ill always end up where I started (2 in game 800 dpi)

edit: lol I basically made the same post as durzo

I think you just have to be used to moving your whole arm around for aiming. I play on 2.5 at 400 dpi (16in/360) and I never really had any glaring issues with sensitivity being too low to move around. I can turn a little over 180 degrees with one swipe. Granted, I play demo and scout, and my soldier jumping is shit. If I were a soldier player I may have to increase my sensitivity.

I think it just depends on what you started out with and got used to
I literally didnt have a desk for my first year playing tf2 so I was always fast. Still using 3.4 ingame @ 1200 dpi even though I now have enough desk space for some Sezco-type sensitivity. I'm sure if I had that kinda space from the start I'd be some slow sens degen too.
I also refuse to use mice lighter than 100g whereas I notice slow sens folk like really lightweight mice

Ive played with everything from a 25in 360 down to 3in 360.
My general experience is that
1.) You obviously need the space for a comfortable 360, try not to lift mouse, go with long smooth movements and see what its comfortable with your wingspan.
2.) Rocket jumping and doing movement gamemodes like bhop and KZ will help a ton in getting used to the lower sensitivities.
3.) A good mouse and clean surface is always going to be helpful, as well try to make sure you're polling rate is set to something more modern. (1000hz)
-I believe the consensus used to be higher dpi with a lower in game sens to avoid any software skipping. (I dont know if that's changed since I read up on things, correct me if im wrong)

Remember that you should also be able to comfortably look up and down as well as do full 360s or your strafes, movement, aim and overall gameplay will suffer.
Dont try to force something if it's not working, I always give it 4-5 days of practice (or joint pain) until I decide its just not worth whatever it is I'm going for.

i dropped my sens in val from 30cm/360 (originally mirrored from tf2) to 65 and it was like night and day i felt like i actually had the control to click heads, just gotta commit to getting used to a new sens.

when i first dropped my sens in tf2 from 17 cm to 30 cm it felt like i could never figure it out, but a month of surfing and pubbing/pugging and it was already pretty comfortable and i felt the benefits of more control playing hitscan classes.

tldr; it'll suck at first but give it a month or two and you'll feel the benefits of the added control.

for val specifically people generally recommend having very roughly an effective dpi (edpi) between 290 and 320 ish, which is just a calculation of in game val sens * mouse dpi. so mine is at 200, which is = 0.125 * 1600, or ~65 cm/360

Prime-Sanityarcadiabig mouse padI have a small mouse pad. I liked using high sensitivity because my thought process was if I can get really good with a fast sensitivity it will be rewarding in the long run.

I understand this sentiment, but realistically you should use what is comfortable. You've been using high sens for a long time so that's probably fine but you don't have to feel married to it just because of it's "potential". There's no shame in not being one of those crackheads with perfect mechanics at high sens. If you want to try using a lower sens and you find you have an easier time controlling your aim, then great! If not, that's also fine. The most important thing is just giving it time and getting used to all the movements you have to do in game with it (as others have said, surfing and jumping are really good ways to get used to making large arm movements on a lower sens).

But also if your desk/mousepad is tiny there's not much you can do besides upgrade. You definitely want to be able to do a full 360 across your pad if you're playing TF2 so that will limit your options somewhat.

Young man 2.70 @ 800 is like a 7.5in/360. That is still a high sens.
If you cant aim with it yet, either practice it or just go back to your old sens

They're used to using different parts of their arm/wrist. A good hybrid is 1.8@800 but if you wanna be a turbosens gamer go for it. I will say if you have really good mouse control and are used to aiming with different parts of your arms then sens doesn't matter. Just look at vF Serious
