Monthly RGL Is Bad Thread

I'm sorry to bump this thread once again, but I would like to say that the only response Jacohi has gotten from RGL is that the team that reviews ban appeals meets only on Fridays. This means that he will miss the first week of the 6s season before he is even considered to have his ban lifted. Why does it take 6 days to consider repealing a ban that should have been an overturned round in the first place?

okay that was a little mean nick but im just being real LMAO
6s players do not value ugc medals at all unless they are Very Bad

and sounds typical of RGL's decidedly non-community focused league lol^

Can we please stop defending RGL as a paid league by bringing up the prize pot every single time? Like sure, I get that it's important to have incentive to play in the league, but having a paid league be this much of a shit storm in an already small competitive community is not good in the long run.

If a free league can provide a better service than a paid league the obvious solution seems to be to invest that money in donations for a prize pool, not to hope that the paid league will improve their service after failing to do so for years.

I genuinely have to question what you're paying for at this point.

The NA community seems to have this weird masochistic streak where they can't take a league seriously until it has bent them over and fucked them in the ass at least three times to show them it's a real "business" and when anyone who prefers to remained unfucked suggest a different league it's shouted down with the usual war cries of "we can't split the community" and "there'd be no prize pool".

The only reason I still pay up is because RGL is less of a meme than UGC, which of course is kinda funny. We should honestly talk more with UGC and start moving there until RGL stops virtue signaling and actually does work.

EDIT: Like at this point RGL has no real incentive to get better because everyone who wants to play at a high level of competition uses RGL and not UGC with no questions asked. We should hold them more accountable and leave when stuff like this happens. The only reason there isnt a high level of play at UGC is because WE CHOOSE to play in RGL. Imagine if ESEA never became a thing. UGC would be the hub of 6s and there would be high level of play. We should stop giving our money and time to places like RGL that just continuously ignore the community and do whatever they want in a dictatorial fashion with the occasional PR stunt.

rgl has one thing that keeps people playing it no matter what: it's the league that froyotech is in

whatever league the top 1-2 teams choose to play in will be the league of choice, there's just no avoiding that reality

It still genuinely amazes me that rgl took over a season to ban mxr and elijah (which probably would of taken longer if mxr didn't stream himself cheating LOL) but takes essentially 5 minutes to ban people for minute reasons.

The majority of tf2 players do not give a single fuck about the cash. Like sure it pays b4nny's rent, but for the average lower div player, they are playing because of a genuine love for the game and their teammates/friends. When the only positive thing being offered is "hey if you grind for 100 hours a week for a few years you may just get the chance to get kicked in the dick by froyotech and make like 60 bucks!", a lot of people are going to be turned off of the league. This game is tiny compared to ones where money actually matters. Our focus should be on fostering a healthy and happy community, and let it grow from there, not trying to pump money into a select few players' pockets while ignoring any community input at all.

Originally its was because ESEA and lan meant something, so being able to beat b4nny actually had a purpose. But as time went on people kinda just got sucked into the b4nny vortex of how we "should" play the game because he is the best and just kinda followed what he did even if it was really stupid. Most people in NA just want to play the game, not actually put effort into fixing shit or changing anything, so even if b4nnys ideas are stupid and misguided people will follow anyways because at least they are ideas.

would you want to play in a league without the best team?

what if the other top 2-3 teams don't follow because they also want to keep testing themselves against froyo?

UGC is, and will always try our best to listen to community feedback regarding the areas we can improve in as a league to provide a better experience within. That being said, no league is perfect and RGL does provide a very user-friendly and enjoyable experience (for most people at least). Every league has its shortcomings, UGC included, and hopefully, as time goes on, more and more people will realize that the bulk of the issues surrounding UGC arise from the smaller team counts and not underlying issues regarding administrative decisions/community engagement. I believe that league v. league drama is counterproductive to the longevity and overall betterment of our community, but I hope that whichever league retains a majority of the player base understands that their decisions not only impact the players within their league, but also the players of TF2 as a whole. I do hope people start to realize that there is less of a vacuum regarding where players can obtain their competitive TF2 fix, and hopefully, as a community, we can value our voices more and start holding leagues accountable, not just with our words on the forums, but with our actions. Be the change you want to see, and hopefully, this community will continue to grow and thrive, long after any of us are still around to witness it.

no i really love paying money every season so it can be funneled to invite and I can fight for a chance at making 15 bucks. i love being able to contribute to making tf2 a real esport with a prizepool, and i in no way feel like my 5 years of contributions to paid leagues has been wasted. getting to watch banny make rent every month makes it all worth it.

would you want to play in a league without the best team?

what if the other top 2-3 teams don't follow because they also want to keep testing themselves against froyo?

Because it doesn't affect 90% of the player base?

And the top 3 teams argument is still the same "b4nny said so". If everyone else moved do you think he wouldn't? If the top team doesn't play in the league you're playing in for a season does the scene collapse? I know for a fact that it didn't in europe.

speaking of RGL being bad their class restrictions in advanced are so absurd, they let ed (good invite scout) play his main in the division because their team didn't qualify, but um can't play anything but medic and fygg can't play demo (despite exile and ether being able to play demo who are both more experienced in invite)

it's a lose lose situation cause if u restrict ed to playing non-scout the team might die cause they wanted to play with those classes, but if you let him scout then suddenly he's the best scout in the div by a mile since every other team is gimped by restrictions

the solution here is clear, remove these stupidly strict restrictions and only restrict players like jay who are actually too good at fragging classes to play in the div (tho even jay demo id argue is fine, not like he's shown to be high invite on that class)
