Congrats dude you typed out 2500 words to attempt to convey something to us we already knew, Getawhale is a fuckin tard.

Im willing to bet neither of u read a fucking word of this

I dont think anything getawhale said was unreasonable. i fail to see how any of this makes him a tard or how any of this is all about him.

In fact the reality is that this seems to be about his shared misgivings about the management of essentials with other production staff, and if you cared at all about the quality of tf2 production on the highest profile events our scene has maybe some of this would worry you.

i will agree all this for a casual chat seems silly and blown out of proportion

I didn't mean to come out with all this so early, but in light of the ongoing controversies, I feel it's time to finally make this public: I will be hosting i63. Upon seeing that I have full nerdstars on tf.tv, ETF staff as well as the external parties involved agreed that it would be for the best to let someone with some actual experience take the leads here.

I can confirm that several high-profile tf2 community figures have been hired as casters; also, MasterNoob has generously offered for TF2Center to sponsor a large part of the production costs as well as providing LAN administration and moderation for all of the tournament. In addition, we have hired popular streamers, including Uncle Dane and Sigafoo to organize an experimental tournament in a new game mode which we have been developing over the past months: I won't give up all the details here but essentially it's 7v7 with 2 mandatory engineers on koth maps. Price pools will be split evenly between the new game mode and traditional 6s. Additionally, I'm proud to announce that, for the first time ever at Insomnia, there will be live music provided by our very own players; several teams have agreed to sing live on stage during the tournament and provide much-needed relief during stalemates. You'll be surprised to see what some of these players have in store for you! Thanks again to Mustard for this great idea. Additionally, there will be a dance contest with a sizable price pool of froyotech merchandise, with a confirmed table dance number by Grant Vincent himself as a highlight! (because of this, unfortunately, access to the tf2 venue will be strictly 18+ this year, but we feel it's worth it)

There's so much more, but I can't get into all the details at this point, however, feel free to ask any questions here, or to DM Mustardoverlord, this year's co-organizer, or myself. We'll gladly address as many questions as we can, however keep in mind that we cannot make all of the information available at this point.

Thanks again and cu@i63!

It's incredible that there's still weird casting organisation drama a full 5 years after that VTV/TFTV shit.

Thank you to everyone who has given so much of their time and money and effort to promoting competitive TF2 and keeping it alive. It sucks to see drama like this when I know that almost everyone, if not everyone, who works with the competitive scene does it for a love of the game and a desire to see it grow.

I will admit there was some pretty annoying moments at i61 which was cheesing me off. But it's not like TF2 in its whole lifespan of iSeries has gone without a hitch. Referring to a point about what how I had audibly yelled at production about needing some communication on what is going on whilst live, I did do the exact same thing the year before with davidthewin.

One of the problems I think the community always runs in to is a really dumb standard of expectation, like we always seem to want to put on a very ambitious show, which we are all right to wish for but we seem to do it as a detriment to people involved in some ways, so if something doesn't go to plan or if there's a technical issue it seems to create a scenario where everyone will feel a massive pile of shit just being dumped on them. For the past few iseries now it feels like we have created something bigger than what we really needed.

I can't really chime in on anything else as I wasn't involved, and because I can't even manage to reply to slack notification asking me when I can cast so I'm not really one to talk about organisation.

But I feel like this paints a scenario that makes ETF look like it's going to end up with a mass suicide on stream when it's really not. At the end of the day we are all just amateurs wanting what's best, I imagine a lot of mistakes have been made that could have been avoided and I hope that they have been learned from.

I don’t think it’s necessarily about expecting a massive show. It’s about the common sense to actually bother enough to answer people who are literally willing to put hundreds of bucks of their private money on the line to basically enslave themselves for 4 days at LAN + preparation. It’s about respect for the person on the other side, who has experience in helping at events like these and give enough fucks to say „Yes, we are gonna need your help, appreciate it!“ or „Nah man, we good.“
I feel ya, Getawhale
