What's a good mousepad?

My mousepad for some reason doesn't register my mouse in the top right corner, and i have no idea why. So i'm in the market for a new one.
I don't have much desk space, so I'm not able to get one of those giant mousepads.

Prefer cloth, but a hard plastic is fine as well. Just want something that works, and I've gone through a few over the last year that warp or have the seams tear, creating an uneven surface. So I'm hoping somebody here knows of a brand or specific pad that is known to be reliable and lasts a fair while.

Also, do the more expensive mousepads actually provide some kind of advantages in game? Some claim to be "gamer optimized" or whatever. Is that shit true, or just clever marketing? Either way, I'd be willing to pay a bit more if it meant the thing won't fall apart in a few months.

I have a steel series QcK. It's not too big, but not that small either. I've had no problems with it really.

I haven't used it but the HyperX FURY S has a good selection of sizes and it has stitched edges to prevent fraying. I have used the Roccat Taito Control before and it also has the stitched edges. Since it's a control mousepad, it's gonna be a harder fabric compared to that of the QCK or the Fury mousepads (won't be as slick/fast). Currently using QCK+ and have been for almost 2 years now, have no problem with it but may be too big since you said you dont have much deskspace.

Before you get a Qck or G-SR feel free to read my review of the DM pads, cheaper than SS and better quality in my experience

n3i heard artisan mousepads are very good

They are, I bought the Hayate Otsu a few months ago and it's the best mousepad I've used, but it's also very expensive and because of that I really don't know how to clean it. I'm too afraid of ruining it.

I've used several "gaming" mousepads I've only found 1 mouse pad that was garbage. XTrac ripper shit-tier pad imo, significantly lowers the max tracking speed of a mouse, smells awful when you first get it, edges are sharp and fray quickly.

I have a hyperx fury mousepad at work (the kind with the nonstitched edges and the only complaint I have is the edges are sharp the HyperX Fury S shouldn't have this issue though.

Have used multiple SteelSeries QCKs I find it difficult to switch to any other mousepad for playing games the texture and feel of the QCK when using a mouse on it just isn't the same on any other pad I've tried.

I've tried a few other mouse pads but none of them really stand out to me especially for recommending to someone who may not have a preference yet, because I'm pretty sure for most gaming mousepads it's going to come down to preference of feel (which you won't know until you try it and use for awhile) size, or cost

Just go with the classic Steelseries QCK+, but the QCK XXL is also an option if you really have a reason to get it.

You can also make a custom QCK+, if you really want to.

I've got a shidenkai Mid, not sure how similar they are but I just ran mine under a warm tap and used a cloth to rub off the dead skin/sweat stains.

Left it to dry overnight and it was fine

Is there any difference really between the qck and the limited variant other than the stitches edges and different design on the top of the pad? I'm really considering getting one since my current one is showing a bit of wear and tear.

entry level mousepads:

1. puretrak talent (good all rounder pad)
2. qck+/qck heavy (thin or thick)
3. goliathus speed/control (smooth or bumpy)

if youre an enthusiast check out zowie g-sr and artisan mousepads

ps. logitech mousepads (both cloth and hard) are bad
