I had to cancel my video project because the time commitment required to download a voice line from the wiki and dragging it into sony vegas was just too big. I had to stop 50 hours in

He doesn't put 100s of hours on single video's but I also wouldn't say he's overrated. He started making his kind of vids in 2012 and kept this up till his last one in 2017. Despite his video's becoming old and repetetive, it's impressive how long he kept it going. Many well-known tf2 youtubers stopped making vids long before he did.

I mean sure, he might not single handedly save tf2 or whatever and might not be the most skilled editor out there but content creation in general is such an important point in a community. Sure, we might roll our eyes at those guys with their rather silly pub clips but we might not be the primary target group after all. But this guy and his lads we're pumping out content like noone else which was greatly received, reaching thousands and thousands of casual players, keeping them interested in this game, maybe even long enough until some of those casual players try out comp at some point. We all started somewhere like that. I really don't think that's "overrated".

I remember him saying his English is really terrible.

Also I think most of the effort that goes into siN’s videos comes in the demo watching, trust me when I say it takes forever. you also have to remember that his clip submissions come from dime a dozen pub players who think they did something really Epic And Cool even if it wasn’t all that great. I’m also 99% sure he uses lawena to record, and when he made videos I don’t even think avirecorder was that popular so he had to use fucking VIRTUALDUB to string his avi’s together after already spending hours recording with lawena. Now imagine sitting through probably dozens of those awful submissions every day, spending a few hours recording and then a few hours in virtual dub all before actually EDITING the video (which also takes WAY longer than a lot of people realize) just trying to make your next video so that you can see your next YouTube pay check and it’s pretty clear to me that it’s unfair to say “POOTIS LOL EPIC FUNNY TF2 CLIP” in an effort to devalue the work he puts in.

Also, don't forget his iksd frag clips were a good way for people who might never even hear about the comp side of tf2 to see cool highlights from matches and pugs. I for one was inspired by seeing some shadowburn highlights to grind soldier dm and actually play a pug for the first time.

aieralook at people who make shitty meme highlight vids for other games and realize what a lazy piece of shit sin is

name one of those other "shitty meme youtubers" who have to deal with the abomination of technology which the tf2 demo system is. It might not sound flashy but actually working with that is a giant pain in the ass and requires a lot of patience given the amount of submissions you might get in that situation. You might not like the content but calling people "lazy piece of shit" goes way too far here.

I mean, in my experience he would just watch frag videos posted on the forums and then ask for the demo and rinse that shit of all the cash it was worth. He then released that demo as if it was his to give without actually asking lol

Regardless of how much effort he puts into those videos I just don't understand the appeal of his content. Is getting recognized in a pub that much of high caliber content nowadays? And apart from that, I liked when he used to make fragmovies, they were pretty high quality but all of this meme content seems really forced/2012 ifunny.com humour type of stuff. To each his own I guess.

yoonaimagine gatekeeping what people can and cannot enjoy on youtube :P!

No one is gatekeeping anything, I legit asked what is the appeal of his newer content as opposed to his older content (on which he also build his channel upon)? Seems you do have a comment on everything I do or say tho so thank you for your efforts to support me on every medium possible be it TFTV, twitch, twitter, pugchamp, etc.

Do not forget to get your circlejerk to reply to my very simple TFTV post too!
