After seeing a few of these seemingly endless granary golden caps i think the rules should be altered
I think 15 mins time limit and team with mid wins would be good
Some ppl said that it would be bad cuz it would give more incentive to the team that wins mid to hold it but they can do that either way in the current system endlessly
Would just give the team w/o mid more reason to do some proactive play
Feel free to post your own ideas and thoughts!

yeah i initally was opposed to that idea, but over time ive begun to think that watching a team try to hold mid until time runs out would be more interesting than watching them hold last.

i feel like anything that discourages stalemates other than giving pushing medics a quick fix is beneficial to the game long-term

my biggest concern is that there are still maps in rotation (blands) that don't compliment a team's abilities to push out from last unless they get a stable 6-man wipe on the opposing team, especially if they're the aggressor out of their own last and not the other way around

Having a time limit and whoever owns mid wins when the time runs out atleast gives the incentive for 1 of the teams to push instead of none

Reduce the round timer from 10 minutes to 5 minutes, new mid begins if no-one caps. Eventually someone will wipe on mid, and there will be double the opportunity for those "let's just try something because they don't have enough time to roll us back to our last anyway"-pushes. I think 5 minutes to make a successful last push is ample time, especially for a tiebreaker round; it's not supposed to be just as fair as normal play, it's supposed to break the tie.

I prefer this idea over the "mid wins when timer goes off".
Pushing on mid is pretty hard, especially if the team that is holding mid is not focused on pushing from it but just defending it.

But then, reducing the round timer would lead to weird scenarios where:
- Team A has 2nd
- Team B holds last
- 1 minute left on the round timer
- Team A wants to let Team B push so that they don't risk a wipe on next mid and just concede one point.
- Team B doesn't want to push so that they reset the round timer and then can have another mid without pushing 2nd

When the original time has passed, make golden caps last 10 minutes with no cap limit (teams can cap multiple times). If the score is still even after those 10 minutes, play out 3 midfights and whoever wins most midfights wins the game. This solution is definitely not inspired by football btw.

when this rule comes into play on lan what happens is the teams seesaw trading ubers over mid and it's kind of a die roll as to which team is holding it when the time runs out

Solution: Remove scout from the game or at least make medic scout combo worse.

gemmwhen this rule comes into play on lan what happens is the teams seesaw trading ubers over mid and it's kind of a die roll as to which team is holding it when the time runs out

that still sounds much more exciting both to play and watch than long sniper stalemates

During regular season when a score is tied on a map: record as a draw, calculations for Swiss/Round Robin will still work.

If there is a tie during a playoffs match: record map as a draw and move on to the next map, so instead of it being played as 'Best of 3/5' you play First to 2 map wins (or 3 in the former BO5 system), if you run out of maps you just start playing the maps that were initially banned by the teams, alternatively a single round on a dedicated King of the Hill map for a golden cap could work too, no round timers to run out and reset.

i know that a lot of people wont take me seriously here but in my personal opinion i think if we switched/developed a seperate league for arena respawn/arena the game would be a lot more fun to watch AND fun to play. i personally have pioneered an underground league for arena where the most elite/mentally developed players can play. this includes the likes of kaidus, b4nny, nation, menty, gink, charlie, matt, marshy, seeds, george washington, abraham lincoln, george W bush, george W bush jr, hilary clinton, and some handicaped people to avoid accusations of discrimination. the handicapped player base includes : hamaham, doughy, sheepy. you could apply to join this top secret league at dogboy58@hotmale.com but only serious applications will be read out. and we are very strict with our rules.

Since everybody is spitting ideas: remove golden cap entirely and make it so that whoever scored the most rounds in the map wins the map.

Its really boring watching a team lose a map because they ran out of time during a mid push with nobody scoring a round.

I've been playing a lot of Splatoon 2 lately and I love how they solve ties on symmetrical gamemodes. Here's my idea based on that.
The round timer can be set to whatever is agreed on. For this idea I'd recommend a short timer, below 10 min. Timer never resets when a point is capped. Main point, when it runs out, instead of stalemating the round like normal, determine the winner of the round based on how close they were to capping last at any point.

Example 1:
- Team A had at one point owned 4 capture points at once. They had the enemy's second capped at one point in the match.
- Team B never managed to own more than 3 points. They capped mid a few times, but never took second.
- Timer runs out, Team A wins the round for making more progress in the map.

Example 2:
- Team A capped Team B's last 70% of the way, but never fully capped it.
- Team B capped Team A's last 30% of the way, but never fully capped it.
- Timer runs out, Team A wins the round for making more progress in the map.

What this means is that:
1. We wouldn't even need a golden cap anymore if this were used for every round. Alternatively, this could be used to have a golden cap always end with a victor after a certain amount of time.
2. Waiting on the round timer is never a good idea if you are the losing team. There is no strat where the losing team waits on the clock for a mid reset, they'd just lose instead.
3. If the winning team (in terms of peak map control) chooses to stall for round time, we at the very least don't have to wait anywhere near as long for the other team to attempt a comeback, due to timer pressure actually being a thing like what we see in KOTH.
4. More fights occur in the rounds as a whole, since people would push much more often.
5. More rounds would end on the timer, less rounds would end on capping last (would this be better or worse?)

Please by all means point out the major flaw in my idea if any. The only problem I can currently think of what I said in point 5.

Edit: Oh, and that it'd need a plugin or Valve assistance to actually set up, which means it will likely not happen.
