Today we are excited to announce that the Team Fortress 2 Pro League will be set to launch on March 1st for players in North America and April 1st for players in Europe.

TF2PL is the next evolution in the collaboration between FACEIT and the competitive TF2 community, seeking to provide the ultimate competitive TF2 platform for players of all skill levels.

Building upon FACEIT’s already existing TF2 solo queue 6v6 matchmaking platform, TF2PL will feature skill balanced divisions, captain drafting, prizes, and more.

Share the news!: https://twitter.com/TF2PL/status/959207288677388293

Highlights of TF2PL:

  • Monthly seasons. Set goals and track your progress month to month.
  • Accessible, inclusive skill divisions for players of all skill levels: Beginner, Amateur, Advanced, Invite. A clear progression system from beginner to pro level.
  • Elo based matchmaking in the Beginner division, captain drafting for Amateur/Advanced/Invite divisions. The best possible match balance every time.
  • Instantly available post-match statistics and STV demo downloads. The essential tools for reviewing your gameplay.
  • Required use of TF2PL discord voice server with automatic channel management with the TF2PL Discord Bot. Guaranteed communication and coordination.
  • Prizes! Over 300,000 FACEIT Points awarded to players in top leaderboard positions in the Advanced and Invite divisions. $280 in cash prizes to top medics across all divisions. Rare TF2 item (Unusual, Australium, etc) raffle entries earned for every 10 matches played per season.
  • Scheduled Prime Time queueing and 5 minute join timers. Reliable queue times and timely starting of matches means less time wasted waiting around to play competitive TF2.
  • Clear and evenly enforced rules with progressive bans for offenders. No favoritism and no trolls, just good competition. Read the ruleset here.
  • Use of TF2PL will be completely FREE, though premium benefits are on the way.

Participation in TF2PL is open for everyone who meets the following criteria:

Hello, Europe is getting TF2PL April 1st and this is not a joke. It starts on that date because seasons cycle by month. Thanks.

telephone_fanfaceit part 2

FACEIT didn't initially work because they came in blind without any will or intent to make it work. B4nny, if anyone, will try his willy off to make it work, and FACEIT are listening to him.

EDIT: By the way, there's "League" in the name but it's very much a Pugging system *for now*.

The cash prizes are only awarded to medics, not teams as a whole?

unskilledsorry if this was talked about and i missed it, but is there any place to apply for the invite hub?

There is no application to the invite division. Players are invited to the invite division by:

  • Being active invite players in esea
  • Being recognized by the admin team as invite level players
  • Being top level advanced division players for 3 seasons in a row

Ultimately though, the process is under admin discretion and being invited to the invite hub will be handled on a case by case basis, particularly for the move-up from advanced to invite.

The limit should definitely be more than 200 hours. Or at least be class based. Someone with 199 hours on spy and 1 hour on demo shouldn't be allowed to pug as demo

Off-classing will be allowed only within reason. We're not gonna ban pyro, however we will be using the global whitelist.

Hey! I'm an Admin for TF2PL. Here's my input on why the limit is 200 hours.

We want Competitive TF2 to be easily accessible to all players who at least have some idea of how each class works - in that they know what each class has the capability to do, not necessarily that they can play well in those classes. The beginner division will be accessible for the newest of players, and players with some experience will easily climb out of it :) Personally I think it will end up working well.

Ok thanks I've been playing a lot of csgo lately and I forgot that tf2 and cs differ on how long it takes to get good at the game.

I think you could say Beginner is about equal to the range of Silver ranks.

This is a pugging service, therefor there are no teams like there are in ESEA. Rewards are given at the ends of seasons :)

That's a neat idea! Maybe we could do that in the future, but for now we're going to focus on slightly more serious play :)
