Who is the best tf2 caster of all time and why

Because of his dedication to the game and the community for such a long time. For years he has put out casts, special feature videos, his work with Sal and Pyyyour, yyyaaaooo vlog, attendance to LANs, endorsing fundraisers, advocating tf2 to Valve and sponsors, etc.
He's a fun caster, if not the most technical or precise, but overall involvement with the community makes him the best in my mind.

Don't forget he has Portland's tastiest balls.

hoolino love for slin?

Honestly when I was watching rewind slin's bias against 7 was so apparent, he kept using the same buzzords (slow, methodical, run the clock) and I felt it really ruined the quality of the cast

This is always a very hard topic to approach, be that "best" caster, scout, soldier, demo etc.

For me, I believe everyone has played their part in making TF2 enjoyable to watch and getting more people involved in the game, so it's very hard to nail just one. Especially given that we didn't all necessarily cast at the exactly same point in time - makes it even more difficult! Although, some of us had some good "rivalries" :)

Of course we all have some we prefer, but I think it really does come down to the person / your own opinion.

As time progressed, we also had dedicated observers come into the game, who would be the best for that? :D

Personally, it's something I greatly enjoyed and I do miss doing. In some way, it has made me a lot of who I am today.

We both thoroughly enjoyed doing what we did for so long and would like to thank the tf2 community for giving us the platform to do what we loved

Arx was a caster I wish did more. He had such a great casting voice and would stay on top of the action non stop. He was an animal during team fights and transitions. He rarely had good casting partners from the casts I have seen and would have benefited a lot from a solid color commentator.

Arx casted without me?

Wait - what about a partner? :D

Kaidus always knew the teams and players he casted. Either because he'd been scrimming against them for years or they were his own teams. This resulted in every match being very accurate in terms of explaining what the teams are looking for. Often accurately predicting the plays if he was familiar enough with the teams.

It made for educational casts for learning the mindset of EU TF2 but also learning about individual tendencies/play styles. A lot of players had their own personality in-game and Kaidus could be scarily familiar with it.
Also the occasional small bm when someone he knew fed was entertaining. Like a mildly disappointed dad.
Watching b4nny cast NA matches probably gives similar vibes for NA players

Had he casted ESEA/OZF matches I don't know if his casting would've been at the same level as he was less familiar with those teams/metas. No doubt it would've been very insightful still, but a big part of what made his casting so great is how well he knew the teams.

For me, an EU player trying to learn to call more, Kaidus was the perfect caster (at the time)

these days, any invite player is better than anyone else. b4nny doing a solo cast is better than the rgl casts a lot of the time, or it was before rgl started getting marmaloo.

not one single person in this thread mentioned kermit. i remember a recent i-series where kermit and war casted together and i was always disappointed when big matches were done by the other duos.

I always thought tambo was a really really good caster for the short time he was doing it, mostly bcus he was not only nice with phrasing things like real esports casters but also gave actual invite insight. all too often I wanna mute streams bcus the analyst casters are just.. ya
but ya before you form an opinion on this post bringing up someone sorta random in a thread full of legends, go watch an old tftv vod on yt of his casts and you'll see he did have a knack for sounding like a professional commentator (prolly from watching a lot)

shoutouts to my analysts who actually analyze the game and make comments about it instead of just throwing shit at the ceiling and hoping it sticks

I always enjoyed cbear/sigma casts a lot back in the day. cbear brought a ton of excitement during fights while sigma covered post-fight analysis/etc. it was a nice blend between the two. cbear/bloodsire was great too tbh

The guy I wish I got to do a game with is Bloodsire, dude was so good.

I've also been blown away listening to Marmaloo this season. IMO he's the best active tf2 caster.

Aim casting Open grand finals with JuJu versus John Milter was hilarious.

That whole season of Marmaloo casting on his Twitch was also S-tier.
