So as I am officially a no-lifer, having managed to get to global rank ~50 without owning a matchmaking beta pass or actually being good at the game, I thought I'd share my list of unfixed bugs I've found in matchmaking so far. Please feel free to add ones you've experienced.

  • zoom_sensitivity_ratio is locked to 1 for no good reason

  • If a player in a lobby hasn't left the last game by the time the lobby leader starts searching for a new one, every player in the lobby will get an error regarding 'ad-hoc connections' and get chucked back into the lobby screen. The player who hadn't left the last game will get kicked out of the lobby and placed in low priority. This happened to one of my friends twice today.

  • If a player abandons right as or before the last point is capped and the game ends, players may not get the 'elo' (??) or rank points that they should get for winning. This happened 4 times today, and in only one did the game count for our statistics. I suspect that in that game they abandoned too late.

  • Low priority queue doesn't seem to work at all, if you get low priority at the moment you can spend over five minutes in the queue without finding a game. This can happen even if only one player out of six in the lobby has low priority. I have seen low priority players get queued but it takes way too long. I'm guessing that at this stage there just aren't enough 'low priority' players to actually form a working low priority queue -- in that case, they should just get matched up with everyone else rather than slowing everyone down through usually at this stage no fault of their own.

  • if a player crashes while joining the game and does not reconnect, there is a chance that the game will start without them, without either giving them a penalty or giving players in game the message that they can leave. In my experience most of the time these games did not count towards players' statistics, however on one or two occasions they did.

  • Cvars that are locked during a matchmaking game stay locked afterwards, even if you just join a random valve server. This may have been fixed before this stress test as I didn't check today, but it certainly was an issue last time.

my sniping is only good if I raise my zoom_sensitivity_ratio because my normal sens is so low

i remember a shitpost on reddit about graphical command resiractions and balance at early mm stages it was some thing like "also they will capped fps to 60 so players with better pc's cant get any advantage over 2005 craptop users".
and at the time fps_max is forced to be 300 in mm just wow.

not entirely sure if its just me but my brightness is locked to 2.2 which i dont understand considering you can just adjust your monitor to compensate

im fairly certain mm commands are forced to preset values so they can get fps data from a wide variety of machines to figure out what needs to be fixed. I dont expect all of these forced values to be permanent.

Sometimes the map hasn't been changed/reloaded, resulting in crouch-jump screen flickering and flicker-y models.

Another reason to force people onto a narrow range of settings is that if something goes wrong it's more likely their new systems rather than anything on the user's PC so their data is more reliable.

I also had some sort of glitch were I could us my own config with no restrictions, it happened when I joined of an invite while I was testing something in a map

If the lobby leader leaves a game at the victory screen before the other players have left and starts searching before they get back into the lobby, then those players don't get put into the next game and nobody replaces them ingame so you end up playing 5v6 etc.

I played about/just under 50, I've taken part in every stress test, playing through the entirety of all except one when I was at uni. I think I've won about 40.

edit: make that 59 total, I think I've lost around 10 anyway. http://i.imgur.com/1qamtQn.png

not that it's really relevant, I mean you can check the global scoreboard for me as well lol

Never mind. I misunderstood the word "global". I thought global rank refers to the highest rank name in the game.

weird bug on cp_foundry where the collision for props doesn't work. at first I thought I beefed an RJ as I fell through a heretofore solid roof over mid but then we started building sentries inside crates. that should probably be fixed.

Enterimweird bug on cp_foundry where the collision for props doesn't work. at first I thought I beefed an RJ as I fell through a heretofore solid roof over mid but then we started building sentries inside crates. that should probably be fixed.

happens on viaduct too, you can sit in the wood plank piles at each spawn

We had a Granary game where almost all the props were non-solid. Could just show up at mid and walk/shoot through all the crates. Shutters didn't open but let you pass straight through. I've seen similar bugs in the past in scrims and stuff (I particularly remember being able to phase through the truck on Snake and the wood piles on pro_viaduct) and a server restart usually fixed it, it's pretty rare though.

yeah, this bugs been in the game forever. usually occurs after a tf2 update and a server restart fixes it.

temporary workaround for zoom_ratio is to change your sens when you click M2. then just revert your sens back to whatever you normally use when you click M2 again, click M1, switching weapons or switching classes.
it's a bit of work, but it's possible if you really want it.

I'm not sure if there is a more up to date thread for this but I'll post it here.

I got very consistent crashes when I selected any class that had a Pyro-vision item equipped. This would only occur on maps that support Pyroland so that only map these crashes actually occur on is Badlands for right now.

Honestly, imagine how many problems would be solved or how much better MM would be if they had just not restricted all these settings/configs/etc.Then that way they could possibly work their way from there and communicate with the community more properly.

Whenever I launch tf the first game I find will fail and give me this error.
'This server only accepts connections negotiated through matchmaking. Ad-hoc connections are not allowed'
Sometimes I get an abandon, sometimes not. I assume the times I don't are down to others abandoning before me. After that first fail however I can connect to the servers and won't get the error again.
