#13 How to be more vocal while playing? in Q/A Help

Narrate your gameplay. Talk about where you are, where you're going, what you're doing right now, what you're planning on doing. Mention if you're fighting someone or leave, if you're getting ammo packs, etc. Pretend you have someone sitting behind you whom you're explaining everything to. Someone listening in should be able to know exactly where you are and what you're doing without even watching -- record yourself and listen, or have a mentor listen. You can always tone down clutter later.

Also, put your PTT on something where it doesn't affect movement keys, jumping, crouching, swapping weapons, or aiming/firing. Shift works really well if you're using WASD+Ctrl+Space for movement and weapon selectors on the mouse. You don't want to be avoiding talking just because you can't without losing a fight or fucking up a jump.

#41 Is Valve overcomplicating weapon stats? in TF2 General Discussion

Is no one even gonna mention the stock sticky launcher? Has damage rampup and falloff, unless the sticky's been out for 5 seconds, in which case it does base damage regardless of the demo's position. Explosion radius expands over time in the air, unless it lands on a surface, in which case it's instantly full radius. Charging alters speed/range/arc. Absolutely none of this has any indication to any other players as to what state it's in, and even the demo has to pretty much just feel it out. And there's no actual stuff in the game explaining most of this. How is someone supposed to even know about it unless the go searching out old blog posts, update logs, etc.?

EmilioEstevezThey do want to be in the EU, but there's no guarantee the EU wants an independent Scotland. They would have to apply like everyone else, it would take years.

inb4 Scotland tries to join Ireland, since they're already part of the EU. Gaelic Union?

#50 TF2 Update 31/05/2016 in TF2 General Discussion
KanecoTomDoes anyone know if comp matches means all tournament matches or just matchmaking?

Edit: Based on my testing it is only matchmaking, so if you want automatic recording you still need prec.

This also doesnt take status screenshots, so for etf2l I would still recommend using prec. Maybe if there is some way in the etf2l/ugc/esea cfgs to make the game record.

Ideal here would be to have the option to record tournament-mode matches that aren't matchmaking, but nothing else

Let's change the question to: would you play in this tournament, or do something more exciting with your free time?

#15 Survey for psych in Off Topic

Just FYI, self-selected / non-random responses introduce bias, as will picking a specific demographic such as "TF2 comp players"... best would be to say, go through your school's directory and ask every 5th person to take the survey, or something similar.

It doesn't recognize pirates:

#11 Thoughts on Overwatch? in Other Games

It's pretty and it's fun if you don't take it too seriously. Kinda like cotton candy in video game form. Running around is slow and the game can stalemate hard and stuns in an FPS are annoying though.

#6 Broadway in Off Topic

I went to NYC for a few days every fall from like 2005-2008 and then a few more trips later on. Just got back last Friday from a week trip there. Caught shows every single time. Probably the best ones I remember were The Producers and Les Miserables. Phantom and Chicago are both really solid choices as well. Disney ones are a mixed bag but Lion King is definitely great.

Tickets were from the official site pretty much always... you can get cheaper tickets outside, but you don't have as much choice in where you sit or anything, so I wouldn't recommend that as much. And it's nice to have the guarantee of actually having tickets at a specific time ahead of time. If you do wanna get them there you should try checking with your hotel concierge and stuff as well, some of them can help you get them, but I don't know if that goes for everywhere though. Not much experience with getting them indirectly though so can't give much advice re: that approach.

BTW, Les Mis is closing this year, I'd highly recommend seeing that as well if you can get a chance. It's better if you've read the (extremely-long) book though, I saw it back in like 2006 before it closed for awhile and it was kinda hard to follow everything, read it since then and this time around I enjoyed it more. But it was still really good the first time as well.

#86 MedicStats SourceMod plugin in Projects

Thanks, and yeah, it seems like stuff that goes in /addons doesn't register if it's in /custom/xxx/addons. I think the server must spin up its addons before it checks /custom for file replacements. Generally other stuff like maps, configs, etc. works fine with /custom for servers, but I guess that's an exception. Kinda unfortunate because otherwise it'd be possible to just git clone/pull things like MGE/SOAP straight into /custom like you can with HUDs...

#84 MedicStats SourceMod plugin in Projects

Hey, sorting out my server a bit since I haven't updated it in ages, and had a couple questions:

- I'm considering using TFTrue because TF2Stadium uses it for whitelists, but, are its logs identical to the ones from your stats plugins? Do yours record anything that TFTrue does not (or vice-versa)?

- If I place plugins within /tf/custom, will the updater plugin still be able to update them, or will it attempt to download the updated versions to the base /tf/addons/ directory? Diregard this one it seems plugins don't even work from /custom

#71 PSA: Hacker collecting TF2 player IPs in TF2 General Discussion

I'd imagine that having the servers restart on making a new reservation protects against this already, but, might want to verify there are no vulnerabilities from the logaddress_add command, i.e. no way for someone to add a log-receiving server and have it stick after their reservation ends. Maybe just restrict it altogether with a custom plugin? The lobby sites use it to auto-upload logs, but you could whitelist them or require some kind of approved key to use the command.

what the hell I remember him helping me out big time with my uni science project, was talking with him for a while, seemed like a nice dude and besides a big helper. knowing now what kind of wolf in sheep's clothes he was doesn't feel too good :(

He can be a nice guy in real life and a dick in videogames because real life matters and games don't. There's no contradiction there.

Everything is part of real life

FUNKeThe guy is 17, and was probably 15 when he made the choices

I agree anything puberty or past needs to take forgiveness without forgetting what they did but cut him some slack who wasnt a retard at 15

Not buying that as an excuse. When I was 13, myself and a bunch of people from the Pirates mod for BF1942 formed a clan with the main goal of opposing, teamkilling, and just generally abusing cheaters (there were some bugs in the base game that were particulary ruinous to the gameplay of that mod). Made quite a positive difference in the quality of that tiny community. Pretty much all of us were in the 12-14 age range. I don't really see how someone a few years older than that, partway through highschool, etc. can use young age as an excuse for being a little shitstain, especially when he's still benefiting from the infamy now.

#239 Lmaobox premium detected. in TF2 General Discussion
onv[Anyone who didn't get VAC banned in this particular wave, I personally feel very safe to say they are completely clean and have never used a hack in their life, simply because lmaobox was so far ahead of any other hacks on the market.
I would go as far as saying other hacks didn't even come close to lmaobox, both in terms of functionalities and quality.

Yeah no. For one, I just linked ( http://www.teamfortress.tv/33340/lmaobox-premium-detected/?page=3#79 ) an alt of LKB that I bookmarked because he was hacking on snioer on it in MM literally just last night. This account is not currently banned. His main got banned in this wave. He was definitely using something on the unbanned alt though in the last 24 hours.

Also, if you check through that MM hackers thread you'll see I linked a guy called Peppers ( https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197960295466 ), who is also currently not banned. He happens to have been mentioned in the lmaobox creator's little shoutout post ( http://i.imgur.com/1RJKVB9.png ), is friends with a bunch of hackers including others mentioned in that same post, Steam profile full of comments raging at him for hacking, etc. Could be a legit-only main that he plays with his hacker friends on, but that's the point -- you have to specificially be using lmaobox on a specific account to get banned.

I know from looking into Peppers and friends that they probably also use something called Aimware, and I know from looking into LKB that he also uses something called raxxpack, so it's likely only lmaobox specifically that's been hit in this wave. And accounts != individuals.
