When have you experienced them, how did you overcome them, what was hindering you?

I think I'm currently at a skill plateau, after buying my new computer around April I improved like tenfold for a few weeks since the old setup was really hindering me, but after the first few weeks I feel I have reached a plateau and it has been some months now. I have tried to keep practise consistent or semi-consistent but it isn't doing it for me...

Actually I am noticing a huge improvement as scout/sniper the past few weeks so I feel I have not yet reached the plateau at it, but I am getting a little frustrated as a solly/demo.

it's just slow, steady improvement so it's not as noticeable. keep gaming.

Playing with/against better players is one of the best ways to break through a plateau IMO.

well, everyone eventually does his a plateau. I "overcame" mine by just understanding the stupid decisions i make every game. But essentially like marmaduke said, you wont notice any major improvement, you will just steadily move up.

Depends on how you learn and adapt best, if you can at all

some people learn quickest with an academic approach; reviewing demos, going over scrim/match statistics, watching tf2 videos/commentaries and utilizing all the advice they give.

Some people like to use a more social approach; going over strategies/demos and talking stuff out, playing cooperative games with your fellow teammates to build cohesion, etc.

I also think one of the best ways to get the hang of something is repetition, which would be just continuing to do what you're currently doing now.

Just gotta play a lot and use your time constructively. Don't just play to play if you want to improve.

100 hours of DM/MGE/Scrims/Demo reviews/good pugs will do way more than 500 hours of goofing off in pugs not taking them seriously, or lobbying, or pubbing.

And be critical of yourself and (at least internally) others. If you don't critique you'll never know what needs improvement and what works/doesn't.

Play other games and try not to get burnt out. Be confident in the fact that as Marmaduke said you are improving, it just happens to be slowly. Everyone improves at different rates, its all about what you put in and your intentions while doing so.

I mean plenty of people plateau cause their mistakes become so tiny that they're impossible to analyze/fix unless you watch after the fact or get them pointed out and most people just want to play video games

ssaying they dont exist is just lyin but the underlying reason is generally laziness

alfaif you're playing MGE to get better you're wasting your time

At first I mge'd mostly and it was one of the things that really helped me step up my dm but now it just wont do it and I think I have grown tired of mge and the not so pleasant people there. Mostly I dm nowadays and mix it up with pugs and pcws of course and mge only if I feel like it...

I was actually talking mainly of a dm plateau, because I think I am improving my gamesense and have not reached a plateau in that area, just need to spend a bit more time analyzing my mistakes and thinking about what I do wrong, but dm-wise, while I think it's good for my division (div4-3 etf2l) I am struggling to improve it further.

In my experience, getting shitstomped and then spending the next half hour going over why you were shitstomped is a great way to get better. Even with stuff like DM, you can often tell what you were doing wrong and how to fix it.
