dannyI feel like you guys are taking every opportunity to shit on RGL as much as possible in a tone that offers very little feedback or constructiveness of any kind to the Admins and moderators at rgl, someone explained in another thread that you'll be stuck in rgl anyways and that no other na league will pop up that can rival rgls playerbase, prize pool and get b4nny to leave, so theres no real point in just making threads to call their league bad and their admins biased and stupid

There is a huge amount of very specific, constructive and measured criticism being leveled at RGL but since it all seems to go ignored, it's not surprising people also want to blow off steam about it. You're being just as unconstructive as you're suggesting critics are being. It's by no means good enough for people to just accept that they're stuck with the way things are and give up talking about it.

They unbanned the MAL players but they are contemplating stricter rules on invite players through use of a player survey. That part of the article is so vague and leaves the question of whether they will police invite players outside of scrims/matches through pugs or comms. Also where are the sponsors they talk about, because all I see is mannco.store sponsoring invite highlander and nothing else.

like 500,000 words and they still haven't even addressed the fact that they banned a black person for saying the n word

again, if they plan on holding invite players to a higher level of scrutiny, then it's on them to do their due diligence in that regard

HypnisTo be fair, there's no way to see that the chat messages in that log were from before the scrim started. We should probably make sure this wasn't a misunderstanding

not sure what this is in reference to, but all source mp games generate server-sided .log files that always have timestamped chat logs

det-holding invite players to higher levels of scrutiny = banning ppl they don't like for petty shit that doesnt deserve a ban

the thing is, I'm not even opposed to holding invite players to higher levels of scrutiny. the problem is, it needs to be a two-way street. if invite players have to adhere to stricter rules, the admins need to actually try to cultivate better relationships with them, and also be more transparent in their decisions.

look at, say, cs:go to see what I mean. on the one hand, top tier pros would definitely get in trouble for things that no random player ever would. at the same time, pro players have direct channels to communicate with valve, their feedback is sought more directly, and if any pro player gets banned you best believe it's instantly going to require a big news post explaining everything, rather than just a random anonymous ban. and that's valve, a giant corporation with a reputation for being absentee/opaque in their decisionmaking. the idea that volunteer mods in a community league with 1/1,000 of the player base would be so secretive and paranoid is just absurd.

mustardoverlordvalve, a giant corporation

The rest of what you say is accurate but Valve is really still a rather small company relative to its presence and dominance in the industry, which is to say your comparison is even more appropriate than if it were a giant corporation.

Yup that’s my channel. No attempt was made to impersonate you so I hope no ill will has fallen your way. It’s just the name of a shitty youtube channel that reuploads stolen music. I’ve never really tried to hide from the fact that it was my channel so I would hope that at least some people could have identified that it was in fact mine if they really needed to.

RGL reverses the ban because it was in a map review, still asserts its hate speech for a black man to say the nword. Good league.

I don't want them to police skin color, but I certainly want there to be some more context to hate speech bans. It falls under like profanity in this case and I highly doubt anyone wants the league stopping you from cursing. Ideally these bans wouldn't happen from admins just combing logs. The process should always start with a report and include a follow up with other players in the server to get context. Maybe someone in there would go "hey he's allowed to say that" and we wouldn't have this weird run around. Hate speech requires context to be hate speech and getting that context is definitely complicated. I'm definitely not asking for them to like, archive the races of players in their league.

It’s not that there needs to be specific sorts of granular profiles for players, so much as it would be nice for context to be ascertained before decisions/bans are handed out. Like mentioned earlier, RGL admins only have to deal with what totals up to be 50-100 players when putting “higher scrutiny” on Invite 6s, with special cases coming up within an even smaller group of those players. Lack of communication is a theme that seems to keep coming up, and it doesn’t really concern the frequency of transparent blog posts (though those are good); for some reason, the rules which are vague for the sake of allowing clarity through communication are instead just applied solely on a semi-blind discretion, which amounts to errors which are otherwise easily avoidable.

n-thousandthe rules which are vague for the sake of allowing clarity through communication are instead just applied solely on a semi-blind discretion, which amounts to errors which are otherwise easily avoidable.

This is really the root of the problem. As a start can we stop just combing through logs looking for infractions? I can't think of a circumstance where a ban should come from anything but a report. If the admins can't even tell a map review from a scrim they're clearly going to be missing context on everything else as well. The rules are built the way they are to allow that that communication and somehow that whole step keeps getting skipped.
