"Fun" fact: Froyotech dropped 14 rounds all season (7 in regular season, 7 in playoffs). That's their second lowest total - I only checked back to S21 - after S26 when they dropped 12 rounds (8 and 4). For those old-timers / curious, Classic Mixup during S12 dropped 15 rounds (11 and 4). Those are probably the only three seasons where an Invite team gave up 15 or less rounds throughout the whole thing.

Also if Froyo wins the next two seasons, which should be a breeze, they will have won HALF of all Invite seasons

Why do you downvote me they deserved their win and shook it up this season with the entertaining kritz gameplay on top of it, even though the game were rolls it's still interesting to see their strats and to see it done properly

although i agree they deserved the win because of how froyo stayed together, worked together etc etc, didn't shade just stay on kritz to troll habib (and also the skill difference allowed them to)

why do so many of you have an aversion to greatness, and not a drive to want to become the same? that's sadder than the fact FROYO is likely to win half of all invite seasons

This was their 12th

Seasons 16-28 inclusive, minus Season 20

(Remember that Invite didn't exist until Season 3, that's why the stat is how I described it.)

What about seasons 13 and 14? I didn't watch back then but on the esea league history it says they won them (maybe they weren't called froyo back then but they had B4nny, Shade, and Lansky so it seems like froyo)

Everyone who believes they cant beat froyotech wont beat froyotech. They've been together for many seasons, they havent changed up the roster for a while. meanwhile every other team in invite has. Players give up or move on. The invite teams go into the season saying they are fighting for a placement that isnt first. No one is planning ahead for multiple seasons or to win international LAN's in the future like froyotech is. Maybe if you want win you should act and practice like a winner does.

Maybe other teams are doing these things, but I think there is a lack of transparency in that case. Everybody knows b4nny is gonna do whatever it takes to win, and its not just lip service. Nobody sees anybody else doing that.

Yes, some rosters had that same core and were very similar, HRG and LG, etc. I am only counting teams named Froyotech.

my response was too short but the point stands. hard to appreciate someone saying "it's sad that no one is just putting in the work required to win" when the guy hasn't even put in the work for people to know who he is (let alone the VAC ban on his profile so he clearly doesn't wanna put in work to get good anyway)

SlicerogueMaybe if you want win you should act and practice like a winner does.

I know what you mean by "act and practice like a winner does" but it really just sounds fucking condescending as shit to the people who fucking try their asses off to place well in invite.

No one is obliged to give you a daily report on how they're practicing. What the fuck does "transparency" mean here?

Not trying to be condescending so sorry if you took it that way.

However no one is asking you to report your scrims, it really just comes down to how you act. B4nny as much as I dont like some things he does, always tries to win, always seeks improvement, always strives to be the best and always thinks he will win. Pretty different from 2 players on ascent saying on stream before the match that they are gonna lose really badly. Its especially bad when I hear newbies who at first are inspired to be the best say that they no longer want to try because people in invite who are way better than them dont want to try. As much as i think that certain teams do strive to win and do work hard (kudos to them) nobody can deny that there is this overall mentality in high-IM/Invite that says theres no point being in invite cuz they cant beat froyo.

i'm not saying people aren't putting in any effort to do so, my post was referring to this defeatist attitude among some members of this community who are speaking in advocacy of FROYO splitting up for the sake of competition - and (iirc) all who are making this argument are NOT invite players.

at the end of the day, people with a win-at-all-costs mentality/personality type are probably more likely to be playing a game with money and "fame" on the line and not tf2

the thing about b4nny is that it's an aberration that this game even has one guy like that, and given how he basically had to corner the stream market to even eke out a living, it's unrealistic to expect more than one

I sometimes wish players had more of a growth-oriented mindset and took criticism better/sacrificed for the team more/fucked around and got emo less, but the fact of the matter is people who are that competitive aren't in this community

The insane propagation of these dumb ideas are starting to piss me off across all the threads talking about invite right now.

1.) This community exists because players want to play it competitively. This is just our hobby, save this 'healthy scene' shit for scenes that actually support their players financially. I just wanna improve, I'm not here to satisfy some need for an underdog story. The nerd essays in the other thread about grand finals are irrelevant best and give dumb ideas traction at worst. Who cares if froyo lost? Go play your scrims.

2.) If you seriously believe that people in invite just gave up on improving but also decided to commit 5 nights a week to scrimming then you have to be delusional. Complaining that invite players are complacent or defeatist is also a dumb argument. When people lose their hunger for improving they always quit. Unless you have something else to gain, nobody sane would stick around if they didn't care.

3.) If you also believe that you found the golden way to get better or that invite teams are just 'doing it wrong' then go be the one that beats froyo. Obviously since you know these super elusive secrets that nobody else has ever thought of before I should expect to see you stealing b4nny's welfare. Even then, if you are a top player your advice will still probably mean little considering how individualized improvement is for both teams and players.

4.) Froyo is the best team and they have the best environment to maintain that status quo. Froyotech has the ability to fall back on old teammates, prime access to new talent when needed, and the dedication that comes from being owned by the only full time tf2 player. Teams not only have to catch up to the froyotech of today, but also the froyotech of tomorrow, while also dealing with their team's own problems (of which they will undoubtedly have more)

5.) Despite all of that, Froyo isn't even untouchable. They are all capable of taking L's. Even b4nny can admit that some of their games are closer than they would like and he has an ego that blots out the sun.

EDIT: Some to most of this isn't directed at you, you were just the person i ended up quoting
