Just wanted to update the community, we are reaching 1000 days without a substantial update ;(
Jungle Inferno was October 17, 2017
More than 130 weeks...

It's sad but that's okay, we still have the community :D

I'd take them giving us updates like the Blue moon update like one a year over giant updates like Jungle Inferno every 3 years. Now that all the half-life alyx stuff is kinda done the possibilities are there

I don't think that Half-Life Alyx is a big factor tbh. Valve is probably one of the videogame companies with the highest profit per employee ratios considering how much money they make while only having a few hundred people in their ranks. If Valve actually wanted to do something with TF2 there would always be possibilities to just hire 2 or 3 people more, it's not like Valve is a small indie-studio with limited resources.

It's because we haven't changed our meta into Valve Competitive's yet. As long as we don't do that, we won't get any updates and, most importantly, no major.

If Valve can put aside TF2 for HLA, it means that another project can push it aside as well. When a project is de-prioritized like that, it just doesn't have the momentum needed to rally a bunch of developers behind it for a semi-major update.

I actually have it from a secret source that they're working on a big update that sets out to revolutionize the way people think of TF2 by overhauling the in-game competitive format and exploring ways for Valve to support the competitive community through prize-pools and sanctioned tournaments.
