apparently a pyro pressing m1 and a demoknight both outrank possibly the best airshot comp tf2 has ever seen, cool

It's a single airshot. If I had put that at number one, I was imagining seeing eXactly Wandum's post again in response.

If you could include what you think the ranking should have been that would be a lot better feedback.

What I put in front of it was a play saving last push in a playoffs match, four simultaneous huge shots by SolarLight following a pretty ridiculous trimp, and RoL absolutely destroying a fight on mid with a quick 5k on Sniper against talented players.

Alfie's single airshot was one of the fattest I've seen, but it's one click in a pug (that did have good players) compared to impressive plays that had major impacts on their games.

Y'all got me a lil confused tbh.

The difference is that all of this has been done before, but Alfies airshot will never happen again

I think Moments of Glory is more appropriate for single huge airshots like alfie’s. While yeah it’s fucking CRAZY I’d rather see it in MoG than Top 10 if it’s just going to be placed at #4

i think my ideal preference would be

#1 alfie
#2 RoL
#3 Demoknight

if you're including the pyro you should include it solely on the context of it being a match which only really makes it deserve to be in the upper part of the ranking imo maybe like 7-10. without the context the guy is literally just holding m1 and he's not even aware while he's doing it he loses track of a guy the whole time lol. also it's very clearly a low skill game that last scout rolls out while hte pyro is 30 hp and loses somehow???

regardless of how you order 2-4 #1 should absolutely be alfie

While I agree the airshot is amazing and a 100% fit for the Top10, it's literally one click that wouldn't have impacted the outcome of that push. Putting it at #1 was a possibility but a bit ambitious and people would have complained either way. We've had plenty times where we put a single kill (double / triple airshot or something similar) at #1 and people were complaining that a flashy kill was #1 and a full team wipe by a well known player lower ranked. There are also people on YouTube commenting that SolarLight's clip should have been #1.

Some of these are just impossible to compare and it just really depends on the way you look at things (there are so many factors), which is different for everyone. Sorry if you feel disatisfied, in the end we're just trying to make entertaining video's. Looking at YouTube that's working quite well.

Peace out <3

you say alfies airshot is just "one click" but its not hard at all to hit 4 pipes in a row using iron bomber and equipping a shield to charge around on a map

no one will remember that demoknight play in low open compared to alfies airshot which will be remembered

You need to stop bullying Demoknights. It's not their fault that they can't play proper Demoman.

It seems like every Top 10 Video, someone makes a TFTV thread complaining about the ranking of frags and every time Luke and eXtine explain that part of the process behind their ranking is appealing to the larger audience of pubbers and using frags that are universally entertaining, if not always demonstrating the highest possible skill level. They're trying to reach two very different communities with this series, so their ranking choices will always make someone unhappy.

Like, do yall know the definition of insanity?

I understand and agree that the series misrepresents competitive play on some level, but do you really think complaining on TFTV that x or y play should have been ranked higher/lower will change anything when the creators have every reason to continue using their current ranking criteria?

Bring substantive reasons why they should change their ranking model, make your own Top10 focused on representing only the comp community, or fuck off, IMO

You're posting top 10 moments in a game to a competitive gaming forum, of course people will value stuff that is rare as all hell and includes rolling the dice just right over some play that doesn't take equal amount of skill and luck.
It's like in cs when someone hits a jumping shot and clutches a round, yeah it's a bit luck based but the rare chance for something like that happening; in a high stakes moment nonetheless is what is important to spectators of esports.

It can also demotivate a lot of people from submitting plays if an airshot like Alfie's get's 4th place and a pyro holding m1 and a demoknight bomb gets placed above it

Although I think Alfies frag should've been #1 there's no need to be this passive agressive lol.
They don't have to accept the criticism, they've acknowledged it and justified the decisions they made with a decent response and with solid logic

my advice is dont put any demoknight clips in it. It's not a top 10 play

I actually agree with Luke here, if you factor in the impact of a play, a single frag on a demo that was probably going to crater, on a last push that was very likely already won, in what looks like to be a mix is not something that would qualify as an impact play. It is an absurdly cool shot however so I think number 4 fits it well.

Also Luke has been saying often that very few plays from high-level games end up being sent to him (and most of them are found by Beater). I am assuming that a lack of really clutch clips from non-gimmick classes is born out of a lack of submissions rather than deliberate avoidance in the selection process, and by looking at the frag clips thread you can see that there are plenty of nuts moments each month that could very easily end on the podium.

Luke has expressed many times his ranking method and has been (I think) pretty consistent with it, so I think that while I understand the frustration shown here, I think we should respect his formula.
