tbh all you have to do is find a game where a medic ran perma vaccinator and every death is a drop pretty much

if someone shitting on you for dropping 8 times in a pug makes you want to quit the game then you probably shouldn’t be playing anyway

Rocket has made more pugs start than anyone in this thread and if he plays alright for a pug medic 80% of time, he's cool with me

Because people who want to play 6v6 and have a good time need to be willing to accept being shit on by many people on a public forum?

Do you know how many newbies are afraid of getting into comp tf2 because of this factor alone? Its actually appalling how much this isn't talked about. Yes there's always gonna be criticism and yes people are gonna shittalk or get mad and that is normal for a competitive game, but that should only extend as far as what you exchange in mumble and it shouldn't be over the top at that. You shouldn't be publicly posting to shit on people and bring to light to as many people as possible and make a big deal out of it. You shouldn't be making threads where the premise is "post peoples failures so we can laugh about them" I already know a few people who have quit because of this. I know multiple others who consider quitting because of this regularly. I personally have considered quitting due to this. Some people purposefully dont add up to pugs with popular streamers because they feel if they dont play perfect tf2 someone will clip it and post it on the forums. Its just a not fun experience. How can you expect players to want to play and make mistakes and learn when you shame them for those mistakes. And ill admit that ive done it from time to time too in the past as part of the hive mind. But after hearing lots of newbies (and others as well) being afraid about it I'm trying to change that. Just because you feel like you want ot shit on people doesn't make it ok.

agreed, for a community that both desperately needs and actively wants new players, as a whole we sure make a terrible job to make anyone want to stay, alot more than this game can afford to

I mean, if you can't handle people talking shit about you, you're too weak to ever be a winner anyways. That includes *outside* of tf2. In the professional world, at least 40% of what I hear is people talkin' shit. If you shut down because of it you're doomed. It's a good life skill that everybody should seek to acquire to just ignore it or let it motivate you.

It used to be the norm for medics to get cut due to dropping too much - both of these things happened to Blackeymonster (who dropped 3-4 ubers to snipers and various stuff) and Nosferatuman who was "headshot out of invite" that's literally what the write up said (on warmfront). Blackeymonster came back a few times - and Nos ended up having a very long stay in invite with other teams (mainly NNN/meat market precursors). There's also the Gulllywash game where Shrew, then a promising IM medic who had been picked up by mix^, dropped 3 ubers in a single game, got cut, and never was heard from again. (It also resulted in Relic getting cut, and Lansky and KBK getting poached off of Pinballwizards)

clearly the solution is to force med mains to play more hl to instill the fear of the anti fun sniper class /s

also i dont think i’ve ever seen a legitimately non-toxic (non-confrontational?) individual be shittalked publicly ever, fwiw

there is a clear difference between getting cut from an invite team for performing poorly, and publicly making a thread to solely shit on a player for playing bad in a meaningless pug.

if theres one skill above all others that medics lack its being mentally tough

im not talking about being defensive an argumentative when somebody has a problem with you, im talking about refocusing on the fucking game when somebody (including u) fucks up

also to expand on what marxist is saying, both blacky and shrew basically made it to invite by healing one person all the time

s9 onwards people really figured out how good it was to not heal the pocket the whole fucking game so every medics job got way harder

couple that with the fact that when u play for mixup u have to deal with harb who (rightfully so) calls from the flank as to how u run ur combo and plat who, as good of a pocket soldier he was, is incredibly hard to pocket

i got threads made about me getting picked up (and how big of a fucking joke it was) and dropped from mixup and while it sucked, its something that happened that i learned a lot from. 2 seasons later i made my own team and won the invite vote to get another chance to play at that level again

another thing ill mention is while the base mechanical skill needed to be effective on every other class seems to have increased dramatically, medics have definitely lagged behind and stickout now more than ever for dying to two rockets, missing arrows, dropping people in ubers etc...

bottom line is comp tf2 needs medics and if u can drop the bipolar tendencies a lot of u fucking medics have theres more than enough slots on decent teams for u

but if one thread about one of the 19 pugs a day u play a day makes u wanna quit go ahead and do it, ur just gonna be fuckin miserable anyay

lol yup, when I started playing the first thing you were taught as a medic was that healing scouts was bad. And then the whole world changed forever.

I've got some shitty logs for people who nobody would even remember at this point, so I'll try and find one of myself dropping a shitton - because I tended to like to drop.

https://play.esea.net/match/2715631 Here is a good game where both meds drop 3 (I only had 3 ubers in total so I dropped 1/2 of them) times :D This was also the match where my power went out, and my team chose to lose 2 rounds before pausing to call in a sub. Our sub also dropped an uber lol. For a total of 7 dropped ubers in a single match all told for all the meds.
