this charged response pretty much confirms what i've already been suspecting. you only interact with this scene when it benefits you when you make your youtube videos, but then all of a sudden it's a disgusting scene that churns out pedos and covers for each other. it's clear you want this to be something more than it actually is, but in reality like wish said these are all just a bunch of isolated incidents.

its funny how you "have everything to lose and nothing to gain" but in the same breath you are asking people to like, share, comment, and subscribe. you presented no new information! all you did was copy paste some shit from tf.tv and spend like 7 bucks to get plaidinum's court docs, that again pretty much told us nothing
Yeah I’m mad because I was hoping I could say this place isn’t as bad as I thought, clearly I was wrong. I’m mad because I love the scene, watch the actual video. I have merch, watch almost every playoff match, went to a lan when I didn’t have to fly? played in seasons, and made it my job. I censored parts the video so it could reach as many people as possible and not get age restricted. Predictably, it’s already partially demonetized, tf2 already makes nothing off ads, so even if it gets an million views I’ll at most get laeound $500 for working on this full time for 3 weeks, I didn’t put a sponsor, and I tell people not to subscribe because I don’t want to make this kind of content. I did this to bring attention to outsiders about this horrible scene, it wasn’t for you or other players. Go back to your pedo pugs chomo.
Get a job and start anew dude you can still be a human it's not too late

This video did not need to be 46 minutes long, a clickbaity/sensational title, voice acting recreation of horrific acts of csam, or spooky music to bring awareness to the issue of predators lurking in an online, niche community.
TF2 is a small community, so CSAM and sexual harassment cases are a lot more prominent. To label the competitive community as a "pedo ring" is incredibly dishonest and misleading! And yes, EVERY WORD MATTERS. You cannot virtue signal "really, the title is all you care about?" with sensitive matters like these. When you want to bring awareness or create a video "for documentation purposes only", you need think carefully about your language or remain neutral if it's truly only for documentation! Don't make such bold and dangerous claims that groups an entire community with a small set of players. Especially when that very community stands up against RGL's decision making.
You also do not need to share or re-create explicit details of the csam cases AT ALL. If you want to teach people how to spot grooming, manipulation, and "ground-testing" strategies predators use, then point people towards the appropriate resources of legitimate organizations that are trained in prevention and trauma response. The recreations were deeply disturbing and served primarily as morbid curiosity than actual learning examples. You were almost there by highlighting how some predators move conversations to 1-on-1 conversations, you could have expanded by giving general examples on how it progresses instead of the direct evidence. This is really no better than the reddit detectives who are in it for the thrill of the investigation rather than actual concern for the victims.
The video had good intentions but it lacked nuance or the proper sensitivity needed to address such an issue. The way you are responding to criticism is also very telling of virtue signaling rather than actual awareness.
The community is deeply disturbed by these cases and the decision making RGL makes, but this approach was horrible. The community action at the end should have been the focus of the entire video because at this point, it is up to us to force RGL to change. Disturbing people will always be around on the internet, unfortunately, but we do not need to know the details of their depravity. The focus should be on protecting vulnerable people, setting up preventions, and keeping predators away from them---not sensationalizing and detailing their horrible acts!

i just think this video does more harm than good considering this is probably going to be the average comment from his viewerbase. its not like any of this information isn't already readily available if you do a little digging. and yeah obviously the ban reasons rgl gives sucks dick but it's just them not trying to make themselves get sued for libel.
you are braindead, "doing good" is keeping underage players out of this disgusting scene, "doing harm" is keeping them unaware. damn near nobody goes through the archives of a game, almost 10 years back to see if there's any preds. The world doesn't revolve around TF2's competitive scene, you have it ass backwards, nuke this cancer.
Predators exist outside of the competitive scene---they are incredibly common in the casual community as well! Doing good would be making an informative video on how to spot, prevent, and get support from trusted figures of authority to deal with predators as a vulnerable person on the internet. You can spread awareness without all the graphic details, point people towards the right resources, and NOT fear monger about what is a relatively neutral gaming community.

a bit disingenuous to imply yourself an insider when you have 4 seasons played with a 3 year ban sitting on your account.
also a bit fucked up to get people to voice act victims of this over the top of some shitty spooky copyright free music.
painting a small subset of players as a pedo ring when all of these are their own isolated cases different from the last is also something else.

My guy you can't make a fucking disgusting video like this which is more about the shock value and not the actual crimes and then voice act (in a super weird sexual voice I might add) the messages between these degens and expect anyone but 15 year olds on youtube to take you seriously like you aren't doing this for algo farm like come on get real.
Then throwing the community under the bus here like "everyone that plays comp is a pedo" is such a TMZ move it shows people exactly what you are after and how little you actually know. "I'm not doing this because of the money NO NO NO, its the children I want to protect".
If this was the case you would have actually made the video to reflect this and not just talk about in the last 10 seconds of a 45min video with you sitting on the beach like you've actually accomplished anything by then end.

siyofor a scene so small we do a pretty good job as a community outing bad actors when it happens. sensationalizing it undermines the positives in how the broader community reacted in every situation. for that i get the intentions of the video but it’s quite disappointing and paints a lot of confirmation bias given how being such a small community amplifies these kinda scenarios. having watched the majority of the video it’s quite sad to see
I'm not going to weigh in on any pedo accusations/confirmations/drama/whatever but one thing I want to bring up is that there have been many problematic people in this scene in the past, and one argument that was posited towards letting them stay in the scene was that without them, comp TF2 would be nothing and would not continue. I'm not going to name names but those who know can probably guess who I'm referring to.
Well, here we are in 2026 and the scene has survived without them. In fact I'd argue given the dead state of game development it's honestly remarkably thrived. The folks who have stuck around and the newcomers that have shown up are doing a way, WAY better job than the ones we kicked out in the past. I've never been more thankful to be a part of, and more proud to be a witness to, that success.

Something not often considered in these threads is that we do actually go after, name and shame, eject people from the community when people are reported, exposed, banned, etc
This does give an impression of a widespread issue specific to the TF2 scene. But as pointed out by others, the majority of these pedos and creeps were isolated incidents that have happened spread out over the years.
The Spanish Flu started in the US. Censors in all countries suppressed the death tolls. Except Spain. So it was dubbed Spanish Flu because everyone else pretended it wasn't a big deal. There's probably a lesson in there for the perception of how widespread this issue really is in TF2 compared to esports as a whole
Anyway, keep naming and shaming the pedos. I don't really care all that much about the deceiving title etc. If it helps make pedos feel unsafe in our community I'm fine with it

11 years since I took that photo of Dashner at i55 and it keeps getting used without attribution or royalties, I could have retired by now.
The creator of the video DM'd me out of the blue the day before it went live, asking why Nursey and sempar aren't banned on serveme. I didn't know who he was, but did notice he has a couple of banned alts and a whopping 3 year RGL ban for "Misleading administrative staff", so I didn't take him entirely seriously.
I explained that serveme's ban list is for cheaters we caught and people interfering with matches, and we let the leagues deal with all the other stuff. Ironically, that same policy is why the video creator still plays on na.serveme.tf despite his RGL ban.
Next thing I know I'm "harboring preds" and "too lazy to ban pedophiles" and threatens to put me in the video. So I don't think this person is acting in good faith.

i picked an unfortunate moment for my once-every-several-months opening of tftv.
i don't know anything about you because i've been out of it long enough, but it seems like you really hate rgl admins because you broke some rules and got banned a while back, so you've made a long, deeply insensitive, fairly mediocre video essay that tries to paint a tiny number of degenerates from this community as an evil cabal that rgl is somehow apart of
only thing i really have to add to what has already been said by others is this
tooru (28:13 in video)Why have several accounts had their ban message completely changed over the past few years to downplay their actions? The only reason I can possibly think of is to make RGL seem safer than it is
this quote is genuinely clarifying insofar that it makes it clear how clueless you are to the (at least legal) ramifications of the actions some of these members have allegedly committed. these are horrific crimes that rgl (as an org run by a bunch of random video game players) has no business talking about publicly unless there is a conviction on record. in your head, there's no such thing as libel laws or innocence-until-proven-guilty-in-a-court-of-law-as-a-foundational-pillar-of-society.
you oversimplify the scene to one that is rampant with pedos and freaks (and go on long rants about "transexuals" and kink culture that are genuinely weird and icky), when in reality the community is deeply anti-pedo. predators and people that play with them are shunned from this scene (at least they were until I stopped being involved several years ago). it's not a ring if it's a few people spread out over many years and multiple communities--that is clickbait plain and simple.
the only marginally helpful thing in this video for your young audiences is the bit about staying away from one-on-one chats with grown people in late night discords. but you'd much rather talk about ex-transexual nursey's affinity for a variety of bodies than spend time actually talking about how young people can more safely navigate online spaces
weird fucking video dude. clickbait title, simulated conversations between kids and pedos, focus on shock value over all else, random ass minecraft footage while talking about pedophilia in online spaces. weird to the core--maybe i'm not gen z enough and vertical video has made this shit normalized. i hate it

I see a lot of bias(or cope) in your video. Even more when you drop something likethis. Seems like you are upset about your ban (which ends on march/2028) and now you want to paint the whole community as a pedo zone. And you say you have nothing to gain and everything to lose, then you ask for likes and subs. Yeah ive seen it all.

tf2 competitive and grooming/pedos are like not even close to synonymous. if u were asking me it just makes people from the outside look at this community and think that pedos or this supposed "ring" are running rampant. just makes people wanna turn away from tf2 comp entirely. yes better moderation is always good and for rgl needed.
Also MAFiA MENTIONED we going big

The Magnum Opus / Martyr larp with this video is laughable. Many people here have already given it healthy critique so I'll try not to tread the same ground. I'm not really convinced that this wasn't emotionally made for some vindication rather than in good faith. Your responses to this thread shine a light on that.
Basic facts were made incorrectly or misrepresented (ESEA shutting down in 2015? And somebody already mentioned but I never recall Broking being on Froyotech either). It is common knowledge that RGL only used that ban message previously to protect themselves from a lawsuit. Despite that, they still changed protocol and have used a more descriptive one for at least the last two years.
Also the use of the word "ring" in the title and a lack of any proper timeline frames all the individuals in the video as being part of one together and the course of events as happening around a similar time frame -- which is not true. And based on the current information available, nor are you an insider in any capacity beyond being a casual participant of the larger scene. The most generous interpretation I can give is that you are trying to give yourself more credibility which is evidently; undeserved.
No-one has yet mentioned the burner email at the end of the video for people to write to if they were inspired to speak out. "I have nothing to lose" etc. Was this to fuel your own ego? Genuinely bizarre. Combined with the use of music, storytelling and voice acting -- it feels exploitative. #truecrime right guys? Did you even get consent or perspective from any of the victims or people in general?
Anybody who makes a video that is serious about making the world a better or safer place would inevitably reach out to experts or professionals who at a base level will have done research on the topic. The video has a severe lack of this but doesn't fail to call RGL a "pedo league" and makes an implicit statement that the head admin of RGL is someone who has committed acts like that -- and by extension is biased towards protecting people who do that. Citation very much needed.
When I saw the video in my sub box, I was looking forward to watching it but I am left extremely disappointed. I expected better. If you want to genuinely prove your integrity, you'd take down the video and re-make it with more care. If I were a pessimist, I'd predict you would hope for at least one positive response in your burner's inbox so you could parade it around as validation. The people that endured what you talk about in the video merited more. They are not props. Do better.

This vid is about to set comp scene back by 100 years because of the title alone. As many people have mentioned before, "the ring" implies there are actual, somewhat powerful groups of pedos pulling the strings together. In reality, it's a bunch of weirods creeping on children by using their status or position who rarely if ever work with other creeps.
Also, the reason there are so many known pedos in the scene is because their cases get publicity and those bad actors DO actually get punished by the league. If you're being a creep to people in casual or on some unpopular community server you're likely never gonna get banned and no one will know about your wrongdoings. I've seen such cases myself. However, it's also fair to say that rgl and etf2l haven't been perfect (and I'm being generous) with handling some cases of misconduct in the past. The Nursey one is still insane cuz he/she kept playing with children in official scrims, I believe
And ofc, Tooru does a great job painting the whole scene as pedos or as people who allow that shit to happen which is at best very dishonest of him and at worst straight up harmful to the community. We've already had people making shit up before (like the claim of comp players asking valve to kill caber) and now we also have this vid. The bias and agenda is hard to ignore

dogshit video. making a spectacle of actual victims for clicks and cash instead of drawing attention to how awful most rgl admins are when it comes to handling these situations. could’ve easily turned this into a better discussion on moderation and the circlejerk that exists on every level of staff but instead bro bastardized the whole thing.
regardless, rgl has not taken player misconduct serious in years, shit ain’t gonna change unless the entire head leadership does.

if i was to make a video about this topic the first thing i would do is research guidelines on how to properly discuss and communicate about sexual misconduct and violence, not read 500 tftv posts

Arie11 years since I took that photo of Dashner at i55 and it keeps getting used without attribution or royalties, I could have retired by now.
My argument, is why don't you go out of your way to do the right thing? You ended up asking me to make my own pull request and I did, then you denied it and blocked me. I also don't use your pred ass servers, I rented one the other day to see if I was banned or not.

apologies for this - there is a moment in the video where tooru spends a significant portion of time talking about nursey's kinks and sexual preferences in a way that is both very weird and also completely inconsequential to the rest of the video's attempt at a thesis. he also calls nursey an "ex transexual" which I should have put in quotes in my comment because not everyone here has had the misfortune of sitting through 2/3rds of this terrible video like i did
