pibbleThe players do want this issue addressed, Tooru didn't include how several people have swamped RGL with messages for weeks at a time to change the way the system is ran. The community is getting defensive because they have tried to bring light to these issues, be outspoken about it, and bring about change for over a decade now and this video is implying the community is sitting idly letting things happen. The community really does not care about defending RGL's image, the community is one of their biggest critique and it is SO apparent to see if anyone took time out of their day to see what the community was up to.
It is discrediting the work of the community against the league. Nobody is disagreeing the core message of the video is wrong, what is the issue is the way it was communicated as it generalizes a community who is probably one of the most outspoken ones I have seen thus far. Many community members have taken up staff roles to try and bring change, but because it is not a bigger organized effort, it fails. There have been several discussions on how RGL staff needs to be completely changed if the League wants to head in a more positive direction, but hardly anybody is interested in figuring out how we can accomplish this.
That is very possible - If it is true, then I think now would as good of a time as ever to take action and either organize a big community effort to change things with RGL, or boycott it and make a new league entirely if they won't change their ways. I do still think the video exposing the bad actors is a net positive overall, as it puts more eyes onto them and exposes the general public to the issue, especially where the moderation is concerned. (I personally didn't really feel like the video made the players out as sitting idly by, they just weren't really mentioned) I personally came here to voice my concerns, especially with some of the responses and the reaction to some supporting Tooru. I do sincerely hope for your sake that you can end up fixing this.
