Someone ping me in 30 days, I'll explain to everyone exactly what file it is, where to put it, how to add/change volume of basically every sound in the game.

Oh and Fun Fact. This file is blocked by the pure settings in CSGO.

You've been pinged

edit: i believe mustardoverlord was accusing reimu of using this

to be clear: someone sat at her pc at lan and it was literally obvious

I also know some other players who have outright admitted to it (like yuki)

wtf

adyskyProSkeez You have to understand the risk you are taking as a small game community by making posts like these. This glitch has been known for at least 3-4 years now and valve have received countless emails about it already, do you think making a post on a forum they read twice a year is going to make them aware? On the other hand you are handing out a free way to completely banish an entire class and spoiling game thats had its peak half a decade ago. There are people dumb enough in this community that will use this even in league matches without a 2nd thought. In your post you are actually saying that there already are way better known glitches that arent even exploit worthy, just game mechanic bugs (sticky det, uber pause) and yet it takes valve months to years to fix them, how fast do you think its going to take them to fix this one?

Didn't you get caught on stream a couple of years back using this very thing? You changed the spy decloak to like a foghorn sound....But it's okay because you just forgot to change it back when you were "testing it in pubs". I'm not saying you use this now but the very fact you're suggesting this post/the tutorial is hidden is extremely hypocritical.

As it's been suggested in the thread there may be people that don't want it being shown to the greater community purely because they have an advantage in the game that they don't want shared. If we want something to actually change in this game we have to make a big enough deal out of it to make Valve realise that it is a game breaking issue.

I opened an issue (referencing this post) on valve's source1games github, maybe they'll respond to it because lord knows they're not reading emails.

Crossing my fingers that this gets fixed because as far as I can tell, this is not fixable by anything other than a sourcemod plugin and even that is questionable.

I randomly started thinking about this today

Turns out my initial suspicion seems to be correct - the steam pipe update broke sv_pure and they never really cared.

They've had issues reported as far back as March 2014.

edit: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues/887 June 2013

They don't care about github either it appears.
(Also lol at the guy that commented that they should fix some irrelevant mp3 file issue before they fix game breaking exploits)

I'm gonna take some time later today and see what other dumb shit can be done because of this. Probably won't give everyone the free cheating tutorial but will let you guys know what I find

There's an exploit in the game that allows you to get anyone banned from any server you want and has been in the game for multiple years. The owner of the [AS] mge servers emailed Valve about it and it has never been fixed. I doubt this issue is even on their radar at this point if such a ridiculous exploit has been allowed to exist for so long.

i've been spending the last couple days digging thru tf2 pure code and just getting angrier and angrier at how incompetent valve is in regards to sv pure AND my lack of ability to fix it from a sourcemod / server side because srcds doesn't expose ANYTHING i can find that will let me flush a client's soundemitter system, outside of loading a map_sounds_txt override file which has to be downloaded to the client, which personally doesn't seem like a workable solution.

dude.
even the laziest hacky fix that would take literally ONE FUCKING LINE OF CODE would be flushing the client's soundemitter system after L969 here: https://github.com/TheAlePower/TeamFortress2/blob/1b81dded673d49adebf4d0958e52236ecc28a956/tf2_src/soundemittersystem/soundemittersystembase.cpp#L967-L969

it's gotta be mentioned that for some god damn reason AddSoundsFromFile there is taking the file it was just told to reload as an input to readd to the soundsystem? what the fuck dude!

of course, actually fixing sv pure to work would be a better solution than just adding a hack kludge fix. maybe even make it not wholly client authoritative!

then again, that's too much to expect from a company like valve innit????

from what i can tell, they wholesale just ripped out the "check crc hashes" part of sv pure (deprecating sv_pure_trace, sv_pure_retiretime, and sv_pure_consensus), but they just ... never bothered to set up anything else like it? at all? when you connect to a tf2 server from what I can tell the server just politely asks you to copy its sv pure whitelist to your local whitelist in memory and not mess with it at all which is HILARIOUSLY easy to bypass for cheats and trivially easy EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT CHEATING by just fucking fiddling with directories and/or preloading because the pure code wasnt updated to properly check for the custom folder's existence (at least that's what i can gather). ugh dude just fucking give this game to another studio already it's just fucking embarrassing
