The Second Amendment is what I think you're referring too, being the right to keep and bear arms

jimmijwhy didnt they just shoot the guy, they have the first ambendment?

In the Ohio shooting the police responded and killed the guy with a clean shot in under 60 under seconds which is incredible and not enough people are praising the police for their quick and efficient action. Trying to aim and shoot a moving target with body armor with a handgun is will most likely end up in you getting shot and killed. I've shot guns before and it's not easy, especially when you are shaking with adrenaline because your life is in danger. Also handguns are harder to aim and shoot than something like an M4 which is much easier.

Also can't you buy guns in Walmart in texas? If only someone was in the gun section at the time..

i would imagine (hope) getting a gun ready to fire in a store is going to be harder than just grabbing it and shooting some crazy white nationalist with it

I'm not understanding something here. People are calling every mass shooting by a white person a white nationalist attack but a lot of the time there isn't any evidence of that (Las Vegas) and in most of these mass shootings, it is white people who are the ones being shot. Out of the 20+ people killed in the recent El Paso shooting, the Mexican President said three Mexicans were among the dead, there could be more but there is no doubt most of these victims were white/other. Not to mention two of the last major shootings in the USA have been on Christian Churches, so not only are Christians the most persecuted religious group on the planet, they are now even being targeted in the USA.

Even the Sutherland Springs church shooting attacker had a deep hatred for Christianity and posted multiple facebook posts about how great atheism is and how stupid Christians going to Church are. A literal fedora.

theyre white nationalists bc of their mindset going into the attack they are committing, they want to mostly kill what they deem are degenerate (jewish people, muslims, and now hispanic people) and are what they percieve are as a threat to their fucked up imagining of the world. just because they didn't get their main target mostly doesn't make them not a white nationalist. among that most white nationalists are not christian but will use Christianity as a ploy to help push their agenda and gain more support from the radical christian evangelicals, their religion does not guide their hatred of minorities but will usually be an excuse for it.

also with this most recent shooter (texas shooter not ohio) he did claim to have a manifesto which he posted to 8chan and within it he praised the christchurch shooter and talked about how hispanic people were "invading" america and causing white genocide yadayadayada the usual white nationalist business.

most people call these shooters white nationalist because of many things that they would post on social media and forum sites which appeared to be quintessential white nationalist talking points (white genocide, white ethnostates, a deep seeded hatred for migraint invaders [including hispanic and muslim people], believing in a large jewish conspiracy, and just plain old racist behavior])

also christians are definitely not the most persecuted dude. idk where ur thinking that from but thats just not true at all...

First of all none of these mass shooters are Christians, especially the ones shooting up Christian Churches. Second of all these attackers are not trying to rally Christians onto their side. They are trying to rally disgruntled young men.

Third, Christians are in fact by far the most persecuted group of people in the world by far and have been suffering mass oppression and genocide for years and in many Islamic countries, millions of Christians are being forced out or even killed as the Islamic government and people attempt to wipe out Christianity. Not too long ago in Iraq there were 1.4 Million Christians, now there are barely any who have to hide their identity just to survive. In Pakistan Christians are regularly given death sentences or straight up murdered just for their religion. 20% of the Middle East was Christian in the 20th Century, now due to widespread persecution and genocide it is less than 5%.

This doesn't even include the mass persecution is any communist country like North Korea or ex-communist asian countries like China. In India and Sri Lanka we see the same persecution, murder and rape yet somehow everyone in the west seems to be completely unaware of the millions of people suffering simply due to their religion.

The Holy See has reported that over 100,000 Christians are violently killed annually because of some relation to their faith. Over 200 million Christians are denied fundamental human rights solely because of their faith, the majority are persecuted in Muslim-dominated nations.

Paul Vallely has said that Christians suffer numerically more than any other faith group or any group without faith in the world. Of the world's three largest religions Christians are allegedly the most persecuted with 80% of all acts of religious discrimination being directed at Christians, who only make up 33% of the world's population.

idk about this claim my man
every religion oppresses/oppressed the others at some point so sure i don't have a hard time believing that, but christians don't have it worst.
also you said "by far" twice. i interpret this as either a simple slip-up in writing or a not-so-simple slip-up that shows you were trying really hard to push this point across...

There is overwhelming evidence supporting this claim, I can post more sources and studies if you want. 80% of all acts of religious discrimination being directed at Christians, who only make up 33% of the world's population. I consider that to pretty "by far" considering the number of religions on the planet especially when you consider that many of these Christians are living in Europe or the USA where they aren't persecuted and most tend to just say they are Christian. Meanwhile in the rest of the world the Christians who actually practice their religion are persecuted in unprecedented levels and in many cases they have been and still are victims of genocide.

tfw Iraq's Christian population goes from 1.1 million to 200,000

guess they just vanished.

Remember when more Orthodox Christians were killed by Stalin's systematic genocide than Jews in the Holocaust??
... no you don't. :(

I'd post the onion article but this is more sobering. At this point its just easier to make a single thread and bump it every time a mass shooting occurs. This doesn't even list the thousands of other shootings where less than 3 were shot. Over the next few days there will be lots of discussions about repealing the second amendment and gun advocates will trot out long debunked theories, people will change their twitter pfp in support of the victims and young men will continue to be radicalized. Stricter gun controls and buyback policies have shown to be effective in other countries. Vote democrat, write to your representatives, point out unhealthy behaviour in your friends early enough to prevent it. No one starts out quoting Qanon and nietzsche.

sheepy_dogs_hand garbage

Remind me again why you were banned from TFTV. You aren't the only one in this community or even this very thread to have such misguided views. Stop concern trolling and seek professional help.

Guys, every single shooting statistic in America is inflated beyond belief.
Single-person murders occur just as often in countries with gun control.
Shooting statistics in America also include parking-lot suicides.
Gun control with the availability of the black market literally nullifies the effects of gun control. Criminals still access weapons, law-abiding citizens suffer.
Nothing I'm saying justifies mass shootings. They're awful no matter what the motive is. You people can ONLY focus on the statistics (inaccurate and extrapolated ones!) and the MOTIVE rather than the people who lost their lives.
None of you are smart.
You're a bunch of like-minded pea-brains with no grasp on political happenings. Stay under your rock, it's probably better for 95% of you people.
Keep aping out. I pray for people like the ones on this thread.
And yes, dishsoap, Christians are the most persecuted religion in the world currently. Disconnect from a TF2 server and walk outside, you might learn something new! :D

Here's my discord if anyone wants to talk!

Woah dude, really edgy!!! You mean, masonic satanists and far-leaning SECTS of Protestantism ruined most of what's "ruined" today. Giving Africa railroads and water sucks man!! >:(

The Orthodox Church has done absolutely nothing except exist since the time of Christ when it was founded. I can even say nice things about RCC and most Protestants. I have no idea what we did to "ruin" the world outside of having a faith, and an actual explanation for where our morality comes from!! :D

You're really smart though, dude, I shouldn't mess with you.

Oh, and once again. Turning a post about people losing their lives into a religious debate!!! Wow!!! You're an upstanding guy! You really care about them outside of as a statistic!!

This thread is going way off topic about some dumb religion shit. I am really sorry to all the families and people affected by these shooting, personally, I think that at this moment we should just think about the peoples lives that were lost and think of their families, politics and discussion about other things are just stupid right now.

Reposting my thoughts from the El Paso thread below since I see all the action is happening here. The El Paso shooting is almost certainly a white supremacist attack (see sources below). (El Paso is 82.6% Hispanic BTW, and on the border) Dayton one doesn't appear to be motivated by white supremacy?

Christian persecution IS real by the way, we should take it seriously. I don't think it's true to the extent that sheepy's sources claim, but it 100% exists. Just don't use it as an excuse for persecuting other groups of people :v)

ShearsFuck this shit.

I have a friend from college who lives in El Paso. She and her family shop at that very Walmart sometimes. She was literally across the street when this happened. She's fine, thank god. But it seems that she would have been a priority target if she were in the store, which makes me really angry.

You see, there's something else I want to add to this thread. As the news reports come in, it's becoming increasingly clear that this was an act of hate against Hispanic people.

An anonymous, 2,300 word manifesto went up online just before the shooting ranting about the "Hispanic invasion of Texas" and alluding to alt-right theories about "white replacement". The shooter also referenced the Christchurch massacre, in which another white supremacist, also guided by this "white replacment" shit massacred Muslim people during their prayer service. Source: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49226573

My point is: this wasn't a random act of violence. This wasn't someone who decided to shoot up their school for reasons unknown. The shooter drove 9 hours from his hometown of Dallas to get to El Paso. They were deliberately targeting immigrants.

One last thing I want to make clear to people: there's a link between the rhetoric Trump uses about immigration and this shooting. Because guess who else loves to refer to Hispanic immigration as an "invasion?" That's right, the Donald himself. If you can't comprehend why people get angry about the words Trump uses, this is a perfect example.
