While I don't come back to the game much anymore besides the occasional boss run, dark souls is definitely up there

Velocity Ultra
Olliolli
I played these two on my Playstation Vita (lol) for days on end, though they're on steam and I give my fullest recommendation for them if you like skill-based arcade-style games.

Also Hotline Miami

Sonic Adventure 2:Battle is a game I genuinely can't get enough of. I've spent multiple summers playing the hell out of it. I know for most people it's just 'haha chao' but even beyond the Chao I thoroughly enjoyed the mechanics and platforming of the entire game (besides Tails, Eggman's mech stages were done way better.)

Final Fantasy X is something I can play through multiple times and also never get bored. The first 10 hours of that game are done so damn well and it's like I'm reliving an experience every time I go through it. It's mechanics are admittedly pretty simple but I still find myself enjoying it a ton and not ever bothered when I get into an encounter. Playing through the game is like rewatching one of my favorite shows. Also the amount of personal value this game has to me. From my IRL friends to my online ones (I miss you bill) there was so many memories made from my friends talking about and watching each other play the game. Also literally don't forget the invite squad of Luca Goers.

Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland is a game I literally always play from start to finish whenever I feel like playing it and I don't even try to speedrun it. When I was a little kid even now I absolutely love how the game looks. The sprites on the GBA had my favorite sprite art. The mechanics in this game are super fun too. I don't know much about the inner workings of this game but holy hell is it fun just to move around in this game for me. The game feels fast and it has the perfect difficulty curve in a platformer imo. This was the first Kirby game my dad got me and I really was hooked on the pink ball ever since.

Besides TF2 I think Mother 3 is easily my favorite game. I adore the setting, how it looks, by far the best the gameplay has been in a mother game, the story is astonishing, and I have replayed through this game multiple times. Every time I play through the game I still feel like I'm always learning something new. My best buddy in life - his name is James - showed me this game and the mother series and all the neat and hidden things behind it. I knew James since I was in 1st grade. We've practically hung out every weekend of our lives since we met. Sadly he moved away from our hometown in Pennsylvania and moved to Georgia as recently as last year. This really bummed me out for obvious reasons. Him and I were ALWAYS super connected over three games. Pikmin 2, Mother 3, and TF2. We literally spent so much time playing them and talking about them non stop (I was extremely poor as a child so when I got a game I usually had to stick with it for a very long time and he would always stick with those games with me). His birthday is in august and since I couldn't do Pikmin 2 I decided I would play through Mother 3 in one sitting and streamed the whole process for his birthday. It took 22 hours. He even joined me part way through the game and we talked the rest of the time. I miss him very much but that's a memory I will never forget. Besides this one instance, I made a lot of memories with this game and it's a fantastic one to boot. It's really sad it never had a true localization because I would love for people be able to bond over a game as amazing as this one.

Sorry for such an essay on this. I really mostly bonded over games most of my life and I can really talk about this sort of thing forever. It's so weird how I play a video game for most of my free time but I never seem to have a chance to talk about something like this, lol. I have plenty more memories to share from these games but I don't want to make this so hard to read.

TL:DR Just read the first sentence in each paragraph.

Also I obviously love Team Fortress 2.

The Logical Journey of the Zoombinis
Earthbound (also many of the other games that are in the same style/inspired by it).
Donkey Kong Country 2
Psychonauts
Cave Story
Dark Souls
Hollow Knight
Hyper Light Drifter
Zelda: Twilight Princess

Arno the almost omnivorous is the best character in a videogame btw.

Silent Hill 2 is my favourite game ever. I generally can't stand to play horror games, but I beat it like 4-5 months ago and I'm still obsessed with how good it was

Every time i play a new 4x game it just makes me think "jesus how is this game from 1996 still better than every other 4x game."

Undertale is probably my favourite game, I really enjoyed it when I played it in 2015 (before all the memes and fanart and stuff) and it honestly had an impact on me emotionally, which is something I can’t say any other game has done for me (then again, I don’t really play any story based games). Sadly, a lot of people miss out on this great experience because of the culture surrounding it. It’s really a shame that people don’t let themselves enjoy it because of the expectations/community surrounding it and just dismiss it as some niche meme game.

Really surprised not to see Bioshock 1 and 2 on here. Infinite is a masterpiece of course, and the DLC ties the whole story together, but I honestly think the story of those first two games (especially the first) blows literally every other game out of the water. It is so powerful.

Rocksmith because guitar+videogame even with its weird note detection as it's fun to just boot up the game, plug in my guitar or bass and just play through a couple of songs.

Bioshock 1/2 because the story in the games are great and the minervas den dlc from 2 gave me feelings

I also have a soft spot for Nintendo 64 LoZ games.

E: also the Witcher series and Bloodborne
