need help sleeping at normal times

Ever since I remember myself clearly, about the age of 6 I could never sleep at the right time, I'd always sleep late and around 2-7 hours of sleep a night.
So no about 13 years later I still can't sleep around a normal schedule and every time I try to fix it, it obviously fails.
Anyone with a similar problem could offer some help?

What is keeping you from sleeping a normal schedule? Are you trying to do an activity (such as tf2) late at night that prevents you from adhering to your schedule?

It could be any activity, sometimes I'll just start reading articles, a newspaper a book whatever I can feed my brain with.

matt-ask ur gp about ambien

I've been offered sleeping pills by my mother (shes a nurse and takes them sometimes) but I prefer to keep my relationship with drugs as a thing I only do for fun...

How are your activity levels in the day? I find that I sleep much better with regular exercise as well as just being so tired that I have to sleep.

Exercise about 2 hours before bedtime then right before you want to go to bed take a cool (not cold) shower and then get into bed. Don't keep any light sources within reach, including screens of any size. If you need noise to sleep, try a fan or an actual white noise machine instead of the tv.

I'm somewhat physically active and another thing that keeps me active is job which requires lifting stuff etc.

I'll try this, thanks.

From my experience with having a sleeping disorder: as said before make sure you stay active/exercise a fair amount in the day, try to eat at least a couple of hours before you sleep, use Flux/dim your screens if you're gonna use electronics in the hours before you sleep and when you go to bed make sure there's nothing distracting near you like a phone or whatever. Also try to go to bed at a similar time each night as it develops a habit. Good luck these things can be tough :)

If it's been more than a decade I'd probably see a professional so they could pin down what's causing you the most issues. Tips and tricks from the internet will only get you so far (read: not very far). If you manage to find big improvements, it'll probably be life changing.

Similar issue here. Sometimes I feel like there is way too much energy in my body and the only way to put myself to sleep while in this state is running/exercising.

... see a specialist. There are sleeping labs and whatnot. Not sure about how insurance etc is whereever you're from, so it might not be your best option.

This summer my sleep schedule was fucked (staying up till 6am on the regular then sleeping in) but I found in order to fix it the easiest/most effective thing was just to stay up all night and make sure to exercise and whatnot to avoid falling asleep the next day, then take melatonin a bit before a normal bedtime and read in bed or whatever. I'm pretty sure jerking off makes it easier to fall asleep as well (at least for me I found it I close my eyes right after I would be super tired and have no trouble getting to sleep)
In your case I world definitely try to see a doctor because it's been happening for so long.

Cut out caffeine in general, or at the very least don't drink any past noon. Same with sugar, try to keep it to low amounts. Use your bed for sleeping and only sleeping. Don't sit there on your phone, reading a book, etc. When you only use your bed for sleeping your body gets used to it and you fall asleep much easier when you get into bed. No matter how tired you are, don't take naps during the day and only sleep just the once overnight.

Yea let me tell you one thing, I sometimes deal with not being able to sleep and the reason behind this is because if you're on the computer for too long your brain will get overstimulated because of these blue light rays coming from the screen, this include monitor and phone, it can make it difficult to sleep because even if you're not on a device you cant sleep because your brain is still very active from gaming or w/e. try to get off the computer atleast 30 mins before you go to bed, it can make a diff, and thats what worked out for me

bearodactyl I'm pretty sure jerking off makes it easier to fall asleep as well (at least for me I found it I close my eyes right after I would be super tired and have no trouble getting to sleep)

Orgasms, at least for males, release a flood of natural melatonin, which you could always try to replicate (or intensify) with melatonin supplements. Melatonin doesn't stay in the body for too long though, so that's why you should close your eyes right after. Melatonin supplements take about 15-20 minutes to kick in, but once they do, if your eyes are closed you'll be out. Don't take more than ~6-8mg a day though.

Melatonin has been shown to intensify testicular cancer in patients under 45. Do not take Melatonin if you have a history of being a weeb. Talk to your doctor and ask if Melatonin is right for you.

w/e the people said above but also remember your body tried to keep a schedule on when it sleeps and whatnot, so it takes a while for your circadian rhythm to actually normalize. you cant expect to drastically change your sleep schedule within a week

what color temperature do you guys use? I find anything under 5000k becomes too yellow for my preferences or is that something you just get used to. Also does anyone have any thoughts about benq's low blue light. How is it any different than lowering blue colors on the rgb scale? Screams marketing scheme to me.
