No point in spending money on hats when you don't even make money from the game

there are quite a few people in competitive who have nice hats but that doesn't necessarily mean that all of the top players do

word on the street is that hats =/= skill

also i think a vast majority of people in invite/prem are adults and would rather have money to buy food than just have a $200 hat in their inventory

i'm not sure tftv shows them, but i could be wrong. i know b4nny's hat is an unusual but when he is on tftv the effect doesn't show.

i think its something to do with the casting settings not showing unusual effects.

however unusuals don't matter in anycase

Some people don't use them because they draw attention to you and could give away in a flank or hiding spot, but you aren't seeing them on TFTV streams because STV doesn't show unusual effects

lmao I did exactly this. started gradually emptying my bp when I realized I had $600 worth of pixels and $0 on the bank.

never again

I traded mine because in certain hiding spots the particles went too high and gave me away. Also on bombs a big fireball flying through the sky draws a lot of attention/hard to not notice

I never really wanted one, personally, but besides that, as med, I don't really find the idea of being more eye-catching appealing.

Initially when they were introduced I didn't want to buy them because they ruin some hiding spots (notably the bush at badlands choke). Now I just don't care about hats.

Hate to say something that has been said many many times but its because comp players are more concerned with player skill rather than their wardrobe; in other words: Hats ≠ skill . And I love that. Not only does it show that TF2 is not pay to win and you can still be able to experience the actual core gameplay without having a penny spent (unless you want to) but it's also a great example on how all free to play games should be; the core mechanics are completely free and cosmetics are the only items you can spend real money on therefore making the game non P2W...

(also because unusuals 2 flashy)
