I'm sad there's only one person (afaik) in the comp TF2 community with this kind of relation with Valve. I'm glad it's b4nny.

flamenobody else plays the game at his level right now. he literally just took a mid level IM team and turned them into invite champions (shots fired muma).

are you ignoring the fact that the only members of strawberry mangoes who made it to the end of the season were freestate and myself? who both missed invite playoffs the season prior by 1 game (dont forget 20b forfeiting us after paying up block when indust vanished and texted us repeatdly saying he would be there shortly) with alfa playing spy and sniper instead of pocket? b4nny obviously helped us both find what we were missing in order to reach high invite but to make it sound like that was tons is just wrong

Y'all still trying to put people in the spotlight who Valve doesn't care to acknowledge as far as a champion of their product. But whatever, nothing we can all do about anything that comes of this.

Valve is a very successful business with hitting two home runs out of the fucking park with DOTA2 and CSGO. They're just doing what they know works, so have a little faith in their decisions.

No, it's the opposite. It's people outside the spotlight who don't want it or need it, and decisions and events passing Valve by that will see talent that may be very productive in the future gone for good - talent that has given 100% for years and would clearly be an asset. In a period when Overwatch is stripping TF2 of it's top players they might want to reflect on that.

toads_tfgreat lord b4nny the second".@Happysedits The casual and community aspects of TF2 are also heavily emphasized in the next big update. Everyone wins!"
mmm, this is interesting

if theres something that helps revive the small community pubs of old thatd actually be the thing i'd look forward to the most

i think the quickplay update was the exact moment my interest in tf2 took a nosedive

I hope that Valve reaches out to more players to contact for stuff like this soon, because one guy isn't going to be enough in the long run.

We have already begun to see that, in the form of a Valve employee adding several streamers/players on Steam, talking directly to us through our streams, etc. Hopefully we continue to see that, and the relationship continues to be warm. I'm sure we will.

Regardless of your views on whether it should have been exclusively B4nny, it certainly piques curiosity.

You can tell he longs for TF2 to really go places, so him sounding that excited is surely good news.

I don't know who you could be talking about. Nobody quits TF2. The events won't be produced by TF2 service members. The international team will be pegged for it.

While I'm mostly tired of TF2 I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what Valve does and hopefully seeing it become the game I think almost all of us imagined it could have been years ago. Valve definitely has a lot of catching up to do to implement stuff that should have been here pretty much years ago tho, but we'll see how it goes.

flamethe people who we thought were going to go to blizzard to help overwatch just smiled and nodded and now the games about to get launched without an anticheat client afaik.

Every single modern Blizzard game has an AC called Warden.

I love that b4nny is actually putting an effort to make valve care about the game, but goddamn does it make me angry that they just arent transparent.

kinda odd how valve contacts b4nny and shares info on updates and gets feedback from him, but nobody from the cs team contacts any pro players on feedback for updates. I guess it's because TF2 is still in an early development stage, which is good knowing that they want TF2 to be big.

This and also because Valve probably has a much better gauge on the communities reactions in CS:GO. When an update is released, Valve can watch pro-players in real matches/scrims play with the update and get feed back from there, like the infamous Revolver they added.

Plus most of the time, the pro-players and non pro players are fairly on the same page. Instead with TF2, there is a huge disconnect from what Pro-players deem a viable weapon, and what pubbies consider fun to play with. I reckon it's also hard for Valve to gather any significant data from pubs as those are hectic as hell. Also if the weapon is OP, or for whatever reason unusable for compet, it gets black-listed disallowing Valve to gain any info on it.

I guess that's what MM is supposed to help change though?

B4nny just said on stream that valve would be willing to do tf2 majors if matchmaking is well received. I suppose this is the most logical thing they could do, but it's nice to hear confirmation that valve is willing to move forward with competitive tf2.

And apparently the main reason he visited was to discuss weapon rebalances, or at least see his reactions. I'm guessing they do like his opinions though, because apparently some of their proposed changes were exactly the same as some that he sent them a month or so ago.

That looks to be like all we're gonna hear about his secrets...

Tf2 rollercoaster of "the game is thriving" to " the game is dead " to "the letter" to all of this stuff would make a killer documentary.

The major issue with MM is the fact that they've been derelict in their balance responsibility for 4 years (wooo, they balanced like 3 items adequately and left the insanely imbalanced ones bad or made them worse). Thankfully they want to balance things, but I feel like a large portion of the inadequacies come from a lack of knowledge on how their own game is played.

That was always going to be the case, they'd be stupid not to. What's disappointing is that there's no confirmation that they'll put something into competitive to boost the profile of matchmaking. Doesn't mean it won't happen, but it maximises the chances of success if they dip their toes in the water.
