it'll probably end up replacing gunboats if it comes out though. I doubt any roamer is gonna end up running it.

how would this work if a quick fix medic heals the soldier i wonder? i'm sitting here crying at the thought of a soldier and medic just floating around raining death from the sky (or getting super excited at the thought of that provided i'm the soldier w/ the quick fix pocket medic cuz that would be fun af)

quick fix is only affected by the initial momentum from an explosive jump

I would think that it would be something that slows descent to a point where you don't take fall damage. It probably wont affect anything until you start falling. However it would require people to spend a lot of time trying to airshot/shoot the floating soldier. This would be less of an issue if the parachuting soldier was unable to reload instead of raining down constant rockets. If the soldier can reload while floating a mile in the air it will almost definitely be banned.

The problem I see is that the roamer has to do his job with two rockets since he will rarely have enough time for more against a good team, the parachute would almost guarantee 3 rockets. However it would be really funny seeing people get stalled in the air by hitscan and watching all the projectiles fly upwards.

Edit: Maybe it will have some kind of recharge on it like jarate or whatever? This would prevent it from letting people rocket jump around like idiots forever in pubs which valve cares more about. If this is the case it would probably be activated with right click since soldier doesn't use that, or taunt maybe idk.

oh yeah. if something impedes or alters the soldier's movement in any way, the medic will keep moving in accordance to the rocketjump. i haven't had much experience with the quick fix but that makes sense. sounds like a fun unlock then.

lazer gun uses M2, but M3 is unused i think

although being unable to control it would be an ok downside

I would think that it would either be automatic, passively activating when you hit a certain downward velocity, or activated with the spacebar, battlefield style. M2 is taken as has been said, and there was enough backlash to the inclusion of +attack3 for the vaccinator that I can't see it being used when alternatives exist.

That's exactly the problem though. A roamer would become too good of a distraction, which it kind of is already. If everyone is shooting upwards the rest of the team can walk in for free. You'd just jump up so high that you'd be hard enough to hit but everyone would still aim for you. Something like the mid to second roamer bomb on process, or even the fast mid rollout.

Edit: Health would be a problem for some of the jumps but getting high would not be hard regardless.

the biggest problem i can see for this would be if being airshot/getting suspended by hitscan propelled you FURTHER into the air. bombing, getting hit with a rocket, then going higher makes it broken. but if its how i first imagined it just floating gradually in the air after you bomb, it just sounds mediocre at best

I wouldn't have anything against another 'situational sidegrade' that's fun for a while but gets completely abused until it is eventually nerfed to death due to crying children at SPUF.

Getting airshot only propels you higher if you are currently ascending when you get airshot. Otherwise the height gained is negligible, hitscan is the same way, it's all about momentum. It will probably only activate during descent so getting shot higher is practically a non issue. It basically requires the person to sync with a spam rocket/ get airshot as soon as they jump which really wont happen very often. With that, if you get chest or head rocketed/piped you fly downwards quite fast so you'd have to get hit in the feet for any of that to happen.

Parachuting will make for the easiest airshots, namely airborne headshot kills. Neat idea though.

good point. the more i think about it, being shot in air if anything would destroy the parachute. similar in real life if your parachute gets shot to shit, you plummet like a stone. so maybe the parachute would have its own independent "health", getting to zero meaning it disappears and you fall straight down. ofc i think were all putting a lot of thought into something that may not even come to fruition, let alone any confirmed mechanics

Reading the description for why the big bomb wasn't added just made me think of The Wrangler.

Also it's gonna be really fun meatshotting and pistoling soldiers to death who try to use that parachute.

I think the most important part of this isn't just the B.A.S.E. Jumper, but the fact we are getting new weapons. More, new weapons confirmed and incoming.

Color me excited.

Considering the fact that the Loose Canon is probably the only good unlock valve's released in years (and even then only after it got buffed) I'm not really all that excited about more useless/overpowered weapons being added to the game.

(The buffed winger kind of counts too I guess)

If it limited strafing like the charge n targe and you could deploy/take it off at will, I think it would be pretty good.

I think the main point is that if they give soldier a thing that lets him float, every pub is going to be full of soldiers using this with the market gardener. Horrifying.
