i always find it strange how its just decided that invite needs a certain number of teams and then they just vacuum up some advanced teams (which have a 50% chance of dying if forced into invite) just to fill out quals

my team was not told they would be playing quals whatsoever prior to the literal announcement in RGL
my players are unavailable for this quals and i wish we had more time to react to being put in quals

How can you announce quals the day before they happen. Seriously wtf is wrong with this league. Why are quals even happening when I know for a fact that 3/4 teams don't want to play quals or invite. RGL is actually begging to have this retarded charade where everybody is trying to throw as hard as possible without seeming like they're throwing. Let's get the casters on this shit!!! Most of these teams will die if they win quals. The foremost prerequisite for healthy and exciting competition is willing competitors.

I'm tired of paying for this dogshit league. ESEA was shit but at least they didn't have this awful saviour complex that every RGL admin has. Every time people complain they're like "we're putting our blood sweat and tears into this and we're getting no appreciateion qq" bro you could put your dick into it for all I care. This is a paid league. Every player here is paying you for a service. Deliver.

i explicitly reached out to the admins like a month ago telling them the roster before we had even tried out, cause I knew the restriction process would be a pain in the ass and take forever, and they gave us the go ahead with no other communication until we saw this announcement, so we all paid up for adv and then found out we're being forced to play in this despite missing players (as are the other teams lol such a stupid way to decide anything)

stuff like this is why so many old heads like me don't bother to play anymore, cause invite takes a ton of commitment and is stressful, and RGL makes so many weird decisions with advanced (randomly doing a 6 team playoffs, the cheater playoffs fiasco, etc) and makes it so difficult to figure out if you will even be able to play

i swear they want to do their absolute best to make people *not* want to play in their league, the process of hijacking a dead roster a few seasons ago was also a gigantic pain due to weird rules and restrictions, the more rules you have the more likely it is for them to be enforced in a biased or incorrect or poorly planned way, it's no coincidence that RGL has been riddled with issues and public backlash for so many years--my opinion is they're trying to do too much and should just step back and simplify things

Structural decisions and restrictions for the top 2 divisions made almost entirely by a team thats slowly starting to comprise entirely of people who haven’t played in the top 2 divisions. Seems good to me.

I'll try to be constructive here and say that, given the feedback in this thread, actually being responsive and at the very least moving the date of the quals back would be a sign of strength, not weakness

In fairness they did definitely do the right thing and find another team that actually wanted to play in the qualifiers because goblin zone decidedly did not want to be in it (granted, we only learned this two hours before the game was supposed to be played, but better late than never)

there's also the unrelated issue of the missed promotion opportunity. like, they could've had a pre-season podcast going through the rosters of all the returning teams, and synergized it with an article on each for tftv. then they could've announced qualifiers way earlier, figured out the teams in advance, and previewed those two. that sort of thing, yknow?

that would require people that actually care and want to do that. it really feels like rgl barely even cares about their own league, at least esea had community members write articles for them. I remember soapy and lolguy kinda did this for a season but even they stopped. it feels like we've lost most of the people willing to do stuff like this

theyre still around, but rgl doesn't want their help because they have a pug ban from 3 years ago which means theyre toxic and irredeemable and none of the staff currently who would have time to do something cool like this have played main.

No one wants to play in low invite and no one likes teams that aren't invite caliber. Why try and get 8 teams at all when every single person that isn't RGL will see it as a net negative?

How did ESEA deal with not enough teams in invite?

1. Threaten to cancel invite
2. LUCRATIVE takes one for the team and has his team play invite
3. Profit $$$

At least they gave the league a heads up
