What do you like and dislike about this community?

Like: p chill community sociopolitically, like people are generally nice and respectful of minorities/LGBT but there's nobody I've seen that's obnoxiously performative about it. There are a few bad eggs but it's proportionate to the size of the community so I wouldn't blame ourselves for their existence.
Dislike: ppl being mean to noobs. Noobphobia is the worst kind of phobia for a gaming community have.

Like: How dedicated some of you people are at making community content just to keep the game alive/make it better. Map makers, hud makers, TF2 discord bot coders, FPS config scripters, game mode modders. Just a few weeks ago we got a guy who made a program to merge HUD elements together from different HUDS so people can mix and match from different ones they like, that's rad. I like that people are still making new shit for the game.

Like: How we've never become an esport backed by Valve, but more like an intramural hobby. Rooted on a unanimous agreement that this game deserves to sit at the roundtable of esport titles. It's a diverse, unique community where no two people are alike in this scene that fights tooth and nail nearly every day to make it felt and known this game deserved it all too even though the game was orphaned by Valve a long, long time ago.
Dislike: How the niche and welcoming aspect of our community has made for attractive grounds for morally bankrupt sociopathic degenerates to abuse trust and exercise malicious intent that's predatory in nature in pursuit of personal satisfaction and we seemingly can't do jack shit about it if it were to ever become endemic again.

very true, i got peer pressured out of using it when i first started and i wish i hadnt been. plenty of people played with it in tf2 and like dont most quake duelers use it ? the only thing i think causes an issue is playing on a different setup at lan windows accel could behave slightly different ?

like: the game, the stubborn refusal of the community to let it die, volunteers who put in effort especially the ones who don't go mad with a tiny amount of power
dislike: pocket scouts, outsized influence of circlejerks, how impossible it is to find good tryhard practice outside of scrims especially in the post-b4nny pugchamp era
