why NA doesn't use a plugin to prevent stickies, rockets, and pipes from colliding with teammates? Does projectiles getting ruined by teammates make the game better, because it seems to just be a nuisance that should get remedied

because you would get people offclassing on heavy, full buffed, body blocking a teammate, lets say a demo, allowing them to do high end damage without taking any at all, meanwhile the person in front is buffed and able to do damage. Yea, splash would effect the combo of players doing this, but the effect on scouts would be annoying. Its a very specific thing, I dont think people have thought about it much at all, but if this was the case, if this was changed, people would be trying this shit.

Ive made it work in ultiduo, I cant remember but I thought I saw caboose doing this, essentially you body block as a med when your pocket is really really low health, the chances of winning a 1 vs 2 as a med are not that great. I few times its actually made a difference, worst case you body block, arrow your pocket and they drop the med just so you at best have a chance at a better fight even if they have a very small uber advantage.

i think theres a difference between bodyblocking so ur soldier doesnt die on low health and bodyblocking so ur soldier can shoot rockets through your body like you were saying before. i think in these situations it would be better for the soldier to go in front of the medic so he can see what hes shooting and have less damage falloff. will have to do more research on this though,

I didnt say soldier, I said demo, for the original idea. I was referring to what ive done in ultiduo as a frame of reference for what came to my mind, thinking about this in the moment. demo has such a high damage output, but I dont know if they allow hitscan being body blocked? I'm assuming its not right?

I once wanted to implement it in a server I was planning on using for a pug group and asked people around if they were interested. Most of them said please don't do it, with a couple of reasons being something along the lines of, "It's going to be very disorienting having projectiles coming out of behind enemy Scouts and Medics during midfights". I'm going to guess if RGL has ever polled on this, they probably got a lot of "no' replies for similar reasons.

TF2 players just don't like change-- until they do.

This plugin is the only one that we currently use that I have strong feelings about. It is amazing. Having your oblivious team mates eat your rockets based on some random distance parameter is so damn annoying and removing that from the game simply feels like the way the game should have been designed to begin with. There is no disorientation, there's only rockets hitting where they were aimed.

Doesn't it also stop the issue of arrowing allies that are really close to you not registering? That's really fucking annoying when it happens too.

this is less problematic/controversial than the self damage one imo.
I feel like rockets eaten by teammates happen only when spamming at relatively long range, and due to the damage falloff those rockets werent going to do too much damage anyway.

stickies getting knocked back from a scout/soldier while trying to trap out a choke or catch a pick during an uber happens to me at the very least around once per night of scrims
maybe thats not frequent enough to convince you but again what is the reason for keeping the status quo because the only actual one that i can agree with is this

(you can do that in the base game if you stand less than 224hu behind the heavy (1100hu/s * 250ms - 49hu), or alternatively, if you were the last in a row of 5 players)

It’s been a very sad week man, thanks for asking though.

I did follow through and bring it up during one of our many HA meetings weeks ago.
Reason was pretty clear to ya boy in terms of why it wasn’t implemented in past seasons.

The main point is that this is a plugin that introduces big gameplay modifications and directly nerfs classes in the game.
(If needed to elaborate more we def can)

Also an article was made about it here

We did a poll about it around 2020 as well with the opinions being very mixed.

i have a crazy idea, what if u guys did a New Survey... now that it's been used in eu for many years and not changed gameplay besides quality of life improvements

the soldier gunboats self damage thing was lumped in with it i think and that one could actually affect gameplay (but soldier class is simply countered by scout anyways so who cares), at the very least get the teammate collision stuff in

That’s all fine and good but at the illuminati meeting when I brought it up, all the projectile players said “yes pls add this” and the vibe from the rest of the group was “yeah probably a good change”. I brought it up cuz the euros have been running it and it hasn’t impacted the game.
There is no significant buff or nerf it’s just a straight up consistency improvement. Next season please I beg.

Yeah! I remember talking about it at the meeting. That meeting also happened before camp3r and I got informed on why we haven’t incorporated any of these plugins previously.

I’m 99.9% sure that we’ll discuss it at our meeting this week. If anyone had anything else to add onto such I can bring it up as well!
