I'd love to play but with timezone differences i'll still be at work for a lot of it. Life's been real shit to me lately so i couldn't contribute much, but hopefully my small donation can help. Wonderful idea from the community, I hope this gesture of love and support will help his family fight through the pain.

Providing you use discord for coms, I'll gladly roam for an open team for this. I want to do what I can for Yomps memory. Hit me up if interested.

Washed up player LFT here, I will play any role.

So glad something like this is happening. Also wondering will there be a memorial session during this tournament?, after the tournament, or is this going to be it. I'm alright with whatever I'm just curious

The amount of support this community always gives in hard times is amazing, Yomps had so much love and so many laughs to give and he will be very missed. Everyone have fun in the tournament and remember what we're doing it for! :)

Didn't know yomps well, but the competitive community is so closed-knit that news like this is always a shock to the TF2 family. This event seems great as a celebration of yomps' life to remember all the good times.

That being said, if anyone is looking for a washed player who hasn't touched the game in over a year please hit me up, I'd love to participate. LFT or LFP not sure yet.

Let's make it a day to remember.

I won't be participating since I'm not very good at the game but I'll 100% be there to watch and support the community, I've already donated and I can't thank you guys enough for the amazing and rather quick effort you've put into this event.

jediflamasterWhat makes you think his family even wants the money?

Giving money to the family allows them the space to grieve without worrying about the funeral and associated costs.

Please think before you post.

jediflamasterWell I hope they're on board with this.

Thing is I don't know their particular situation. That'd be pretty useful info. I also personally knew a sniper main who suicided and a soldier main who attempted to, both from poor families. Nobody ran charities for anyone then. I guess celebrities are just better than everyone else.

What the hell kind of dogshit comment is this.

Obviously I'm sorry for your friends. It sucks when anyone you know takes their life. I understand you might feel resentful that you/their families/etc had to deal with those deaths without community support.

But the "I guess celebrities are just better than everyone else." is just so tone deaf I just can't imagine how you can honestly think that. If you're going to consider yomps a 'celebrity' (if that exists in tf2?), you have to think about what that means in the context of the community. He was exposed to FAR more people than your average player. Think about how many people in the yomps thread had personally interacted with him. He's also one of the VERY few people in TF2 that seemed to have exclusively positive interactions with people. So if you meet a lot of people, and everyone you meet remembers and liked your interaction, it follows that all of those people are going to care in a tragic situation such as this.

Maybe you should have stepped up and run a charity for your friends if it was something you cared about that much. Or you could just make a bitter post on a forum when someone else gets an outpouring of love from a community that he contributed so much to.

yomps is hardly a celebrity if you look at the scope outside of tf2, the reason why hes getting a ton of support from this community is because he was literally the peoples champ. just look at his thread announcing his death, he only gave love and support to everyone he met and had no bad blood with anyone. for me and a bunch of other people, im not donating to him because hes good at tf2 but because hes an actual good friend so ill return the favor by supporting his family during these rough times. for people who might not have known him in the same way, he was an entertainer playing the highest level of tf2 coming from nowhere and provided it from all of his matches and even his streams. in a way this is the community giving back to him because of how much he gave to the community
