mustardoverlordtf2 would be a much more teamwork oriented game if standards were higher, ie coaches and gaming houses and giant prizepools

but thats just not how it is

Not to the degree of any of the major esports where characters have built in dependencies on each other

honestly once one team stays together for 2+ seasons and starts to give froyo a run for their money, everyone is going to start trying harder. nobody really thinks it can be done anymore because it's been so long since anyone came close.

I think youre bringing up a good point by saying other esports have built in mechanics that force/encourage players to work together. For example, moba character A freezes dude so character B can skillshot him. In comparison, tf2 is more about team coordination than it is about teamwork. You generally dont need to do anything that clever or complicated with your teammates, you just all need to be on the same page, which can be really tough considering the pace of the game and how fast your teammates can fall in and out of whatever position you may think theyre in.

flashbangs, smokes etc
The dependency on teammates to use grenades in coordination with you only really comes into play at a high level, but it's still there.

The same can be said for tf2, even at relatively lower levels too

that's the point. there are no characters that rely on each other like you said, yet if you use team work you will win more often.

it's the same in tf2 and tbh medic and demoman are reliant on their team. they are the strongest classes in the game that are also reliant on their scouts and soldiers listening to them and protecting them.

Theoretically the demoman can protect himself and the same could be said for the medic.
The difference in other games is that no matter how well you play as a individual you are entirely reliant on teammates to do things. No matter how well you play on Soldier in overwatch you can't block an earthshatter. No matter how well you play in csgo you can't smoke two places for a push, or do a set flashbang by yourself.
In tf2 teamwork helps your team be better, in other games the game is almost unplayable without teamwork.

Theoretically you can win 1v5 everytime in csgo, if you just saunter in, big dick and only hit one taps, prefire literally every angle and never miss. It never happens. I don't know anything about OW tho so I won't comment on that.

That's not true if the other team has set up crossfires and 2 of them look at you at once, you can only win if they miss or have the reaction time of a snail.

Nub_DanishI don't know where this team's just have to stay together narrative came from. Ascent stayed together with a core roster for years and I believe the only time they beat froyo was when clockwork decided to troll in a match. I don't feel like tf2 is as much of a teamwork oriented game as everyone thinks. To a large degree I feel like a team full of players who all just make good decisions on their own is better than one team making bad decisions together.

Theoretically.
A demo can only protect himself theoretically if the two+ people focusing him miss every shot.

Theoretically, tf2 could be some kind of a game

I would no joke pay 50$ to each one of the 7 members if they can beat them. That's how confident I am that they don't stand a chance

to actually know whos better you would need a) all 6 players from the travelling team to actually make it and b) the travelling team to give themselves a few extra days to not be jetlagged

I'm not sure both of those conditions will be met especially not for a relatively minor lan like cph

But us lowly tf2 players could only dream of that ever happening. But hey, maybe valve has something up their sleeve that could help with that, though i doubt it

Kingorcoci think the new 7 could beat froyo on the right day

The current lineup could probably put up a really close fight with froyo. Thing is froyo is not going to Copenhagen and 7 are likely to change their roster after this LAN and, assuming froyo will go to the next i-series, 7 roster might not be as strong as it is right now. It's such a shame froyo is not going to Copenhagen this year.
