syrusJoesMonkeyLandwitness winning rgl s6Preceeding this was the DreamHack TF2 Community Clash 2021 in NA where the asdf mix beat froyo. As per Liquipedia this was their first 2nd place since 2017.
And I mean, if we want to go deeper down the froyotech upset loss rabbit hole, then balls cup team in the RGL Winter Cup the same year. Froyo dropped like a 1-4 loss to them in groups. I still remember the hype around aim's stream back then...good times.
if were gona talk about upsets against froyo in smaller tournaments, there is also loss their to lowpander during the group stage of the esports community rumble in sweden. Although it only rly happened bcs froyo didn't know how to play reckoner.
what are you favourite upsets and why
we have had some good ones recently in eu with mandem wining poland and DM winning the last season
historically there was also arctic foxes win in season 27 finals although that game featured 3 mercs
TLR beating Reason in s21 was also cool and it resulted in them changing half their roster
In terms of more recent seasons my pick would be 45, which was fairly close between witness, mandem and for fence
we have already had a thread on this https://www.teamfortress.tv/39854/best-etf2l-season, but that was 9 years ago. Main picks then were s10-12 and s20-22.
Sad to see end of a legendary org and team, your contributions to the community won't be forgotten
NA has b4nny, who is the Eu all time Goat.
Imo to be considered a player should have, achievements, individual skill, impact on the game, longevity.
My picks would be Toe or Kaido.
map pool is a little strange since its borrowed from the afs testing season. I'm sure hl players could advise best you what maps they would prefer but its probably something like. upward, vigil, product, ashville, steel.
flatlineanyone got the cyzer forward spawn clip
the infamous warhuryeah heavy game on product after the sticky nerf. also highlights the heavy sniper playstyle some used on that map at the time

engima going heavy in the i46 grand finals, which was a bit more popular back then

Silentes going heavy to mid in the i65 grand finals several times

heres ur successful heavy last push, lowpander s26. im sure u can find a lot more if u troll through their matches

_KermitShould that uk really look like, 2 for wales, 36 from england, then us and NI with 0?
I kept just uk because there are a few players I am unsure about.
28 players have been on the English national team
5 on the Welsh (mike, gink, sil, hugo, wai)
1 on both (shintaz)
4 on neither (doughy, matthes, randa, appz)
includes both afs seasons and div 1 before prem was introduced in season 8. used a variety of sources, and focused on main rosters. I did not include ringers used in the finals or players cut before the end of the season
a new era of frag vids is about to begin

there are some old players in eu but not many idk about other regions
causal is back bots are mostly gone
game is dying still there are usually 1 or 2 active mge servers over here
in eu 1 or 2 dm servers usually become active bit b4 scrims start. https://serverlist.tf/
yes private pugs are still big usually on discord NA also has rgl pugs https://pugs.tf.plus/
in terms of scrims it depends on the team but there are many teams with more relaxed scrim schedules both 6s and hl
