u 100% press spacebar and crouch on medic to surf scattergun shots further away there is 0 debate on this

also u can point to docs all u want but after 2 mids u can tell the difference as to how much ur slowed down if ur crouching or not

My mic is fucked, cba to re record.

If you wanna get the lab out and make some more rigid tests go wild but the reality of the situation is that crouching makes you go further, so much so that it does not really need more than one example to show it off.

startpos = 2276.47

landpos uncrouched = 1701.13
horizontal distance travelled = 575.34

landpos crouched = 1309.09
horizontal distance travelled = 967.38

A rigorous way to test knockback would be to set sv_gravity to exactly 0 and get shot while you are in mid-air. Write down the damage you took, the magnitude of velocity on all axes after you got hit (cl_showpos 1) and whether you were crouched or uncrouched. Velocity doesn't change after you get hit in zero gravity unless you airstrafe or collide with something, so it's fairly practical to measure.

That's fair if that's how the friendship between you two works. I guess I would've reacted differently if one my friends would act like this and I thought it was a big deal for you because of post #11.
Though I'm still confused why he's calling this a shitpost.

this is something along the lines of what I had asked for originally, but when I have time tonight I'll be running a lab using very similar methods to what you're mentioning. I'll make a video about it or something probably.

Nothing in that test is controlled, at all. You could have at least set up a bind to time the jump and fire to be identical as well as used setpos to set your position to be the same each time. What angle is the bot looking - do they have any pitch or roll? Did you disable random spread (its enabled by default in local servers unless you have a server.cfg that disables it).

I don't have a problem with admitting im wrong, im just waiting for people to actually prove theyre right so that I can confidently say im wrong - since im apparently the only person here who cares about not misinforming other players.

talking to an ensemble of children who can't actually prove what theyre saying and just want me to believe them without showing why I should.

at least comanglia, twiiku and pheaa actually tried to have a discussion about it and experiment instead of just arguing.

Magnitude of velocity in 0 gravity after getting hit by 50 damage, hitscan, uncrouched: 300 u/s
Magnitude of velocity in 0 gravity after getting hit by 50 damage, hitscan, crouched: ~400 u/s

Proof of experiment: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8rsessqs2yj9b4d/knockbacktest.dem?dl=0

Conclusion: Crouching or staying uncrouched does have an effect on the knockback you receive.
