This is small in size compared to the claims that everyone else has made on this thread, but i really hate scrap on how politicized things must be there, slightly disrespecting anything from lgbt to bronies guarantees a ban. And there was this time, some dude who had been there making raffles for about 3-4 years made a single comment on how he disapproved abortion and got slandered by the community until he either quit or got banned

following nursey, mechawreck and heavythesquid drama: random, unprofessional people still don't follow any best practises on interviewing victims of child abuse/grooming, and then youtubers are still exposing who the victims are (them saying it's ok doesn't mean it will be ok), (some of) their conversations containing insanely personal information and declaring what types of pictures/videos were taken by whom and which people have them now.

this is actively hurting the victims' mental health and their ability to make the strongest case in a lawsuit that isn't also going to drag on much longer if people hadn't been so content-hungry on youtube/reddit

if some of them thought they were good samaritans by bringing this much detail to the public, especially in this case, they're fucking wrong

let professional people actually prepare proper interviews, probably following a psychological evaluation, instead of not caring about the consequences of these types of information being collected AND shared just for the clicks/upvotes

unfortunately the damage's been done already so reporting the video into oblivion is probably not going to change anything for the victim's sake

Not saying you're wrong about the implications, but sometimes being overly analytical about something makes it so shit doesn't get done. All of this backlash was spurt out of the now taken down video. Maybe it was the unprofessional "let's throw all of this out in the wild" approach that set the table for the victims to realize there's a collective. I'm sure there were naysayers and scraptf fanatics defending the offenders, but the internet (believe it or not) can also provide support and encouragement for people to stop being idle about it.

Matt/TechNasty was an MMA fighter. He contained him because cozen is a limp noodle and couldn't do shit if he tried, made sure the victim was okay and just stared his ass down until they checked out. Matt would've destroyed him if he retaliated and it would've looked bad on Matt from outside perspective, knowing this he just restrained him for a long time. Yeah, fair to say that this type of video has serious cons. I'd imagine if reporting this to the authorities had already worked, Jesse would have been taken care of, right? Thing is, nothing has happened and the TF2 community has passively let Jesse, Geel, and others continue to harm others. The Scrap.tf team is also trying to suppress this information since it's the only threat to them right now. Raising awareness is the right thing to do at this point. But I totally agree, the person who found this out/compiled all this should reach out to the victim first/suggest they reach out to authorities. Perhaps if this seemed like the type of thing that would escalate, hold off the video.

Very true, honestly I don't think people are going to target the victim, and many would offer support to the victim (however they might not want the attention since it's quite sensitive and the they could be seen in a bad light). From a "muh utilitarianism" view, you could argue that more good is coming out of this if Jesse is called out big time.

EDIT: Side note. I should point out that there was a Steam Discussion thread on this matter, and I had posted the WAMO video saying that more information had come out. It was reported (I think), the post was taken down, and the thread was locked. Not sure if mods are in on it, or post was reported for some reason. On top of that, I would hope that the post was reported for worries of what quintosh had mentioned, rather than some Scrap.tf defenders rushing to Geel and Jesse's rescue.
