Just because they cost about the same doesn't mean they perform the same.

No, updating a BIOS is not hard.

I still don't know why you're upgrading.

want to have good computer, have fps not dip below 240 because 240hz and i want to stream

benchmarking websites put them pretty close together

Well how many fps are you getting now? Don't expect miracles.

On average.
Are we talking about the 9900K? How close do you think it'll be while streaming with 8 cores vs 12 cores?

You could also just use GPU encoding.

Also with a 2700x currently installed you could update the bios to a Ryzen 3 comptable version literally anytime you want to.

my fps just chug and hang. in tf2 i get between like 90 and 300 with frequent dips. i’ve talked to grape juice who has a very similar setup (2700x, 1070ti) and his fps dont drop below 240 at all, even when streaming

yeah upon learning the BIOS thing i’ll probably just stick with Ryzen.

I use GPU encoding because CPU encoding gave me 55 fps in TF2.

Man that doesn't sound at all right, there's no way you should be getting fps that low in tf2 unless you're using the slowest encoding preset speed in OBS. Are you sure your temps are ok and that your drivers are all up to date?

clean installed my gpu drivers, my temps never go above 40C in tf2, gpu encoding gives me semi normal frames, i dont know what else to do other than upgrade lol

all i know is im not performing as well as i could be, i play csgo without streaming and i get 200 fps avg, when i’ve seen people over the last couple years stream and get 400. i may be missing something

e: would a clean instal of windows help? i’ve gone through like 4 gpus since i got my pc

So you know the performance isn't what it should be and your solution is to throw 700$ at the problem and hope it disappears?

Clean windows install, clean TF2 install, clean config. Before that don't even think about blaming the hardware.

i never once claimed to be smart

i will report back after clean installs

changed power settings + reinstalled tf2 and my config, im gonna wipe my pc because my install directories are fucked anyways, when all my games finish installing i’ll see if that yields better results

If you are at stock RAM speeds your FPS will be drastically lower because the infinity fabric of the CPU is tied to the RAM speed, so your CPU will run effectively run slower.

If you are running at 2133MHz RAM it will run a lot slower than say 3200MHz RAM. What RAM do you have? Is XMP for your RAM on?

Use Ryzen Timing Checker and check MEMCLK ratio and see if it matches your RAMs advertised speed. If your RAM supports XMP, turn it on in the BIOS.

not setsul but i wouldnt recommend either. look for an IPS panel instead of a TN one if you care about image quality and colors

clean install is slightly better, trying overclocked ram to 2933 mhz from 2133 mhz

Well not the CPU itself really.
The RAM runs slower and the connection to it also runs slower so it's much more noticeable.

#3433
Doesn't mean it's running at 3000 MHz if you didn't set it to 3000 MHz.

#3434
Not sure why these two are the options. Why did you choose these two specifically, son?

Im honestly just looking for something super reliable and under 220 USD with 144hz, freesync and DP because I want this to last like 6 years without a hiccup (dead pixels, dying, whatever)
Im sure there are better alternatives but those two (mainly the xg2402) seem to have really good reviews
edit: and obviously neither of them have been in production for that long but im kinda just extrpolating longevity from reviews

Not sure how I'd score them on reliability.
The XG2402 should be a proven design with the same 24" 144 Hz TN panel everyone has been using for years. Not that different from all the other 24" 144 Hz TN monitors really.
The G2590FX uses one of those 24.5" panels that are usually found in 240 Hz monitors (didn't check the exact panel though) which could mean either it's running well below what it's capable of and might last longer or it's a shit panel and didn't make the cut, which would suggest the opposite.

Looking for 1TB and good transfer speeds etc. Also dont want it to break after two weeks.

I don't really know that much about pcs but i made this from looking at the logicalincrements website.
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/jarx6/saved/#view=RJJQqs
The only games I play are csgo and league of legends so what I'm wanting is a stable 144fps in csgo on like mediumish settings (i play 4:3 if that helps)
Is there anything about this that can be improved? Or if its total shit, dont suppose you could recommend a build?
cheers

Budget?
Or just 144 fps on medium (which resolution?) as cheap as possible?
Quite a few improvements are possible, I just need to know whether they should be towards higher performance at the same price or same or at least still acceptable performance for your purposes at a lower price.

budget: roughly around the same price would be best. not really comfortable with too much more. so like 640 max if need be.
1024*768 most likely but maybe 1280×960 as well
forgot to mention that ill probably play fortnite as well so a comfy 60fps for that would be nice (if 144fps isnt possible on this budget QQ)
a higher performance at the same price would be preferable

Always go for dual channel RAM.
An RX 580 should actually be good enough for 144 fps in Fortnite on medium if you're on a resolution lower than 1920x1080.
TF2 and Fortnite don't care about 6 cores so this should be slightly faster, but much cheaper.

Not really a fan of the 200R because it got no dust filters but you can swap that out for whatever you like.

Trying to make a decent build, this is what I've come up with with the help of a friend. Any criticisms/suggestions? Also how tf do I know which case would fit this? Also, I'm looking to use it for both tf2 and any AAA games that come out within the next 5 or so years. 1000 eur is as high as I'm willing to go (unless there's some massive upgrade for a negligible price increase), the prices provided are from local stores that are my only option for purchases.

CPU: CPU AMD AM4 Ryzen 5 Box, 3600 3,6 GHz MAX Boost 4,2GHz 6xCore
206 eur

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER WINDFORCE OC 8GB GDDR6 HDMI/3xDP DX12 WINDFORCE 2X

HDD: SAMSUNG SSD 860 EVO SATA3 500GB

MOBO: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX RYZEN DDR4-4133MHz USB3.1 DVI/VGA/HDMI RGB Mystic Light

74 eur

Total: 1000 eur

Thanks in advance

(before someone mentions it, yeah, no HDD, just an SSD, I don't play many different games or work with large files, 500 gigs is more than enough for me)

Any cheaper 2060 Super? What about the 5700?
PSU isn't terrible but at that price you could do better.
Full ATX mobo -> full ATX case (µATX would be too small). Check the max supported GPU length and that should be it. Not that a 2060 is particularly large, so any ATX case should be more than big enough.

Seems good. If your local store has Crucial MX500s you can get that over an 860 Evo for less (well its usually less, no idea how prices are at your local stores). I also hear that GB Windforce fans have poor longevity, but I've only ever read about that on forums and stuff, no first hand experience.
Other than than I'd try to get a 600W (or even 650W) PSU, but I don't think a 550 would have any issues.
You can determine if your components will fit by checking your case's specs. They usually have a max GPU height and length and max cooler height along with other stuff.

edit: as setstul mentioned, a 5700 is also a good option to consider

It's the cheapest 2060 super that I could find. The cheapest 5700 is 50 eur cheaper than the 2060 super. Is it any worse or should I save myself 50 eur and go for a 5700? There's also the 5700XT that's about 30 eur more expensive than the 2060 super. I know radeon gpus used to be considered inferior, had overheating issues, some games weren't optimized for them etc, but I don't know too much about PCs and I've been out of the loop for a while so I have no idea what the current situation is.
Oh also, I can get the 2060 super ventus for the same price, if the windforce is bad.

the stores only have samsung and kingston ssds unfortunately
I can get a cooler master mwe 650W for an extra 10 eur over the 550w, is it worth it/necessary?

Also, I'm looking at a coolermaster K350 case, I did some googling and it seems to be able to fit (from what ive gathered, it's 315mm max, the 2060 super is 229 mm), but can anyone confirm, just in case I'm making some huge oversight with the numbers (first time building a PC)

It is slightly slower, but not 50€ worth slower, so that's a thing. Not worth if it's reference (single fan) 5700 vs aftermarket 2060 Super.
5700 XT is definitely faster, same thing though. There's only so much a single fan can do, but if it's an aftermarket version then I'd say the extra 20€ would definitely be well spent.

My issue isn't with 550W, that's plenty for this build, but with the MWE Gold. Performance is ok but the components are not great. Not as in "this will die soon" but like "there's a reason why the warranty is 5 years, not 10". Like I said not terrible, but not something I'd pay 74€ for. Any other options?

The case would fit, but no dust filters and only one fan included. Not sure if there are better options available in local shops.

This is the XT, I assume it's single fan from the pics?

For about 65 eur, I can get a 750w Corsair Builder Series CX, is that better than the mwe gold?
Anything else that I can find is either some cheap chinese brand (sharkoon and whatnot) or is 100+ eur

As for the cases, I don't see any with more than 1 fan. Going higher up in price only adds a built in psu and I'd feel dumb if i spent 100+ eur on a case for a 1000 eur pc

Yeah, in that case I'd get the 2060 Super.

No, that's actually worse. I guess the MWE Gold will have to do then.

Yeah, built-in PSUs are shit anyway. What about dust filters though? It's easy to buy an extra fan, dust filters not so much.
