GrapeJuiceIIISo is Invite just not allowed to have 10 teams

with 9 teams, scheduling works out perfectly for each team to play each other twice

GrapeJuiceIIIThat makes sense

although for the sake of competition presumably something could be arranged where a low invite team (or the team that needs a fundraiser to pay their fees) swaps to IM. usually there's at least one team that's only playing invite for the good of the division, i don't know if that's the case this season.

Hobin I'm sorry but this is a really bad way to return and I find it hard to believe you didn't know this was a sandbag team. Faint has generally been really nice but I think I speak for allot of us when I say this makes me question if Faint is an org I should want to be associated with going into the future...

No need to be sorry, everyone has an opinion in the matter... We valued all our options and came to the decision we did, people may not like the choice we made and we understand that, we will continue to press on and support our players, if people do not wish to work with us because of a team pick up it's their choice at the end of the day, we do wish good luck to everyone participating from open all the way to invite.

Thanks,

Faint is obviously invite level, but what are they supposed to do if invite has already filled up and they still want to play? Not play in any ESEA matches for a whole season? At least slemnish and laz are making some attempt at off classing, mitigates the sandbagging aspect just a little bit.

Although if Faint and a low invite team can agree to swap places I don't think anybody would complain.

I hate to have to be the one being behind the brainpower for this community (once again), but this team would still be in IM even if they weren't sponsored due to Invite's occupancy. Why is Faint Gaming getting the blame for the heinous crime of "sandbagging"?

I don't mean to come off as rude by means of straightforward speech, but sponsoring a team full of skilled and proven players (save delete) that are likely to have a return for the organization is logically a better idea than, say, sponsoring a team that you are playing on.

i think they should definitely be allowed to play whatever division they want, and I agree, this team probably would have formed even if Faint Gaming had not sponsored them.

with that said, it still feels kind of lame to see a sandbagging team that will clearly make top 2 be announced as some sort of hype and support post, especially when the leader who was on the invite team Faint, which died mid-season, is also on this one (who is also probably not the most liked guy in the game). idk, it's there choice, but I'm not surprised people are not supporting them, and it's for kind of obvious reasons, which makes this seem like they are just trying to turn a quick buck rather than build a supportable team. maybe I'm just salty, but that's my interpretation.

All the Invite spots were filled before this team formed (sandblast even was on a roster titled "Invite team" at one point). I thought people were upset because instead of sponsoring an Invite team, Faint decides to go with this team instead. Opting for an obvious IM favorite over the new Invite teams seems odd to say the least.

Faint has stated publicly before that they enjoyed working with sandblast, and that they expected to do so again. Knowing this, I don't really get why people are surprised by Faint's choice to sponsor this team. It seems like the team was going to exist regardless of Faint's sponsorship, and it seems like this team will be playing invite the season after. As such, I don't really see a problem with Faint sponsoring these guys. The fact that these guys are going to roll IM is pretty much irrelevant, as there have always and will always be sandbag teams in every division. The idea that this time in particular is different doesn't make much sense to me given that Faint has expressed that they like working with sandblast, so this case isn't necessarily as much a case of a sponsor picking up a team in the regular way so much as it seems like Faint wanting to work with sandblast again.

Panda_RaceCar37Slicerogue, I do belive you have argued both sides of this case, only changing sides when it benefits you.

Not once have I condoned sandbagging, I think you are mistaken.

aren't there teams in invite who shouldn't be there that faint could replace?

probably, but its a matter of IF they wanted to go back to IM.

have u guys considered getting better so you can beat this team instead of whining about its existence

why do they deserve the 1st place check (assuming they get it which is far from guaranteed) more than you
