The system tries to match with the same amount of parties on both teams. So it you are 4 man parity, the other team should have 4 man party.

GrapeJuiceIIInot the greatest place for this but I can’t even join the servers without my game crashing. I’ve actually been fortunate enough to find games in under 15 minutes but my game crashes every single time and I have no clue why...

The game is crashing because changing all the graphic settings to the mm settings at once is too much for your game to handle. Use this override in your autoexec/custom. Also change your DX level to 9 if you haven't.

You shouldn't complain about friendlies, because if the ranking system actually works you should say goodbye to them after 10 matches. If you don't goodbye after 10 matches, complain about the ranking system. I also don't think that aimbots will be a big problem in the future, since competitive costs money (even if just 0.5$) and requires you to have a phone. Also, viewmodel_fov shouldn't be set 90 by default just because you got used to it, because some viewmodels are bugged at this point (original, for example). It should probably be set to 70, instead of the awful 54 TF2 currently has. Except that, I think all the complains in this thread should be noted.

The problem is that 70 is the CAP. I don't understand why they wouldn't allow us to use the settings we want, what does it matter if the viewmodel is bugged, or if you disable viewmodels? There is no constructive argument about why any of the settings are enforced on players, and if they don't stop doing it or improve the mess of a code tf2 is, nobody will enjoy playing this, given that it's pubs reduced to 6s.

Why would it bother you that some people that "play" comp, that you or any player who actually plays shouldn't even ever meet after 10 matches, don't actually play? I would see 2 possible arguments:
1. They make the ranks less diverse, since they catch the lowest ranks. My opinion: 10-12 ranks are enough, and more than what most/all competitive 3rd side parties have.
2. Players, especially bad players might get placed in a match with them. My opinion: again, a problem of the matchmaking.
About the viewmodel fov: maybe bugged wasn't the best choice for a word, but you can often see the end of your arm at viewmodel_fov 90, especially with melee or while reloading. I play with viewmodel_fov 87 and don't really notice these unless they really stand out , and I didn't want to boot the game only to check, but of the top of my head I knew the original had the distracting left arm with high viewmodel fov, so I wrote it as an example. Until the TF2 team fixes this (if they will), the default shouldn't be 90, and I think 70 is totally fine as long as players know they can set it higher (which they don't, but if Valve will make the default higher than 70 they will also make the slider go higher than 70). If we want Valve to make a new default, we should listen to ALL TF2 players, not just TF.TV's.

Oh yeah, I forgot that it was locked. Yes, they should definitely unlock it, but not make the default 90, like the OP suggested.

also you can just use a temporary phone number to get authentication then not even require a phone to login

No, its working as intended. You don't want to match 6s party with 6 solo players. Same is with Dota 2. 5v5, and it always match you 3+2v3+2 or 5v5 parties or just all 10 players solo in ranked.

Went 10-3 in placements and got death merchant. Queue times were hit or miss. Sometimes ~5 min other times 30+. I hope they plan to implement map preferences like in csgo. No desire to play turbine/payload ever again

Anyone else having a massive cheater problem? It seems that every cheater got death merchant so I'm more likely to be placed with them in every match now that I've finished placements. Even *in* placements I played 4 games with cheaters, 3 of them against me.

I wish we could at least cap our fps in comp MM(or is that working for everyone else?). Honestly, they should've added a fps cap setting in the Settings by now, just like plenty of other settings that we want to use in comp MM.

Would it be possible to have a a weapon lockout system?

Say, theoretically everyone who plays comp is given every weapon (only during comp) so they can fairly change loadouts, what say if you have one medigun then all latter medical must use a separate gun? The downside to this is that weapons with <6 items in the slot would NEED this to be lifted. This would also arbitrarily fuck with stuff like double scattergun/RL's, which is counter Intuitive. But if valve is so deadset on avoiding class limits, maybe there is something tangible in there. Maybe have it only apply to specific things like mediguns.
