I installed SFM since I was curious. I ended up only running and shooting around with the mercs. Installed real TF2 and got owned til I found out Heavy exists.

flatlinefuck these garbo drug threads let's have a real thread

do you remember the first time you played tf2? what happened?

the first time i launched tf2 i got the huntsman and walked out of turbine shutter and air-headshot a scout jumping off the crates

Not sure about the 1st time but one of the earliest times I played on a friends account was after the Heavy update and I remember playing spy and stabbing the shit out of all the dumbass heavies running natascha.

I was living in china at the time and I found a 70+ ping server in Beijing with one English speaking guy, that I pocketed him when he played pootis on goldrush or badwater. first 1-100 hours

When I moved back to America i played in a orange crit low grav server, and sniped for 200 hours before joining my first iron HL team back in season 11
Now I have 1500 hours on demo and still meh.

Played some payload map and hated it. Then logged like 50 hours of surf then about 100 hours of that idle map with the blimp before realising there's an actual game to play

a few days in i was pocketing my heavy buddy (cause medic was apparently the easiest class to learn on) and i sawed a full health heavy down and was super elated

i also remembering trying to figure out how to drop my sandvich like that loading screen tip told me i could do when i was running full default heavy and didn't even know about the sandvich item. game should be simpler for newer players man

It was a friend's birthday and I was shopping for a birthday gift for him. After looking around the store I wanted to get him GMOD cause I played it before and it was a lot of fun. But in order to use it, it required the user to own a Source game which my friend didn't. So I decided to grab a Source game for him and it happened to be TF2.

Was pretty jealous of him cause TF2 looked pretty good but I didn't have any money to spend on it at that time. He enjoyed my gift and stuff. This was around May.

About a month later the Uber update came out and I happily hopped on. I had made my Steam Account less than a month ago and TF2 was my 3rd game.

All I remember was seeing a hatless soldier shooting FOUR FUCKING RPGS into the enemy spawn on the far side of Point A on gravelpit which blew my fucking mind. "This guy is OP as fuck" "Shit I have to play him" Instantly changed classes and wondered why I dropped dead.

Feel kinda bad for my friend though lol. He doesn't play anymore but if I didn't go shopping for his present I doubt I would have played TF2. I was a huge RPG nerd.

Played on a minecraft trade server at a friends house, thought it was super fun, and I couldn't stop watching STAR videos, and hoping I could get a computer. So my grandma gives me a late 2013 macbook for my birthday, and I download tf2, and played on minecraft trade servers for like 400 hours. My grandma passed away last month, but I am still typing away on her computer. <3

1st time: Shitty office computer from 2005, tried playing harvest with a grand total of <1 frame per second

Later: Playing Dustbowl and I play engie since my frames are bad on last (when the first point was uncapped) and a fucking spy with a spycicle and brownbomber named The Trashman kept terrorizing me. I still remember his name like 4 years later

fuck you trashman

Played on my brother's account first when I was burning out of Soldier Front. Then I started pestering him to use his account more often cause I wanted to play.

Got my own account when TF2 went on sale for $5 or $10. Spent my first 1000 hours bouncing around between pl_goldrush and pl_badwater.

Then I joined a community arena Badlands server, where I spent my next 1.2k hours, met Brandon (of Hostile Faction) and Shrugger. Brandon inspired a number of the players, including me, to seek out competitive play.

I had watched someone play a lot irl, and it looked so fun. I didn't have a mouse, though, so I tried to play the tutorial on a laptop with a trackpad that could only right click or scroll using two-fingered shit... So, I was not only aiming with a trackpad but also trying to use trackpad scrolling to switch weapons. It didn't go well.

Very first time, my friend brought me onto two fort and he had me spawn as each class and fire each primary/secondary to get a feel for the classes.

Second time (and my first time playing for real), I played the tutorial and played soldier (the recommended class per forums for new players!) on hoodoo.... waddle soldier confirmed not that difficult :D

trippaI joined a nighteam pipeline server with a donor building multiple level 3s in pregame and thought it was how engineer worked

And this is why quickplay stopped supporting community servers

My first 20 or so hours I was on a laptop so all I played was engie. Got bored and stopped playing for 3 years.

After I built my own computer I decided to pick it up again. Played on a community server called the Train Yard regularly and eventually became an admin. Met a lot of cool people there who helped me develop an interest in the competitive scene. Been playing ever since.

I played 2fort engineer and when a spy sapped my sentry for the first time, I thought there was no way to destroy it. I just sat there and watched my gun die.

After playing the shit out of HL2 on the orange box I figured I should try and play some of the other games, this was before the xbox with built in wifi came out so I didnt have anyone to play with, so I explored dustbowl alone on heavy and got an achievement for never losing a single point on defense. Felt good.

i was a cart heavy for my first 5 hours, then a spy main for the next 25 and that still makes up the majority of my time played on spy

got into it after seeing star wreck nerds as sniper at the charity mixup, I wanted to be that good xD

2007 or something, using my brothers account. Used spy and tried to use revolver like HL2DM magnum in Dustbowl. I thought it was shit and did almost no damage. Went back to HL2DM.
