No-steam russian cp_orange_x3 on a shitty laptop in early 2010, bought it just before the mac update in June

I was vaguely aware of comp via TF2TV & VanillaTV, got properly sucked in by Mihaly's Flow streams

I got into it mid-late 2013 I think. I learned of Comp TF2 from two friends who had played in UGC I think around the time of Season 6/early 2012. They encouraged me to try the format, it looked very intimidating back then. As for beginning to play TF2, I think I started late 2011 when I was introduced to it through a 3D modeling class assignment.

Between that time and the time I started playing, I watched a few games and videos but the information never really stuck or I didn't understand the concept too well. UGC S11 rolls around and my friends decided to make a HL and 6's team, and I joined a different one for a short period of time to get a taste [and got cut that same season and went on to another team!]. Met Emkay who kind of explained some nuances of the game that were never too clear to me. Did one Open scrim, got wrecked badly and embarrassed myself. Played on and off for my teams, did a few mixes here and there but I never really did well. Came to TF.TV to read and learn things, met some cool people.

Stopped playing TF2 mid-July of this year to try and get through my last year in my BFA classes with minimal distractions. Also got totally burnt out helping run the tVr events.

I played with my friend's account every now and then at his house growing up since release in late 2007, then got my own account when the f2p update came out. I believe my first 800 hours or so were solely on degroot keep, and then I ended up subbing for an iron HL team a week into s10 when I topped the scoreboard on a dustbowl pub. Before that, I had no idea that comp tf2 had existed; it was all cp_orange, dustbowl, and degroot keep for me. Been playing comp ever since :)

Got the game when it became free in June of 2011. Found out about HL a few months after that then found out about 6's during early 2012.

Built a PC for the 1st day of open beta with great memories of TFC, and started 6s some time in 2008 I think. Cevo, twl, cal, ugc, esea, etc.

I have played the game since it came out. I played back when CAL and TWL were such a thing. I was a TWL admin for a while. Have been playing ever since in ugc, cevo, and esea.

3 years playing this game. 2 years of competitive. Started from a dude in a pub I think talking about UGC and he told me to find a team on the forums. Found a team, played a match. Was told is bad player to go back to trading, I listened. Came back later.

Back in 2007, I was hanging out with a friend and he showed me The Orange Box + TF2 on Xbox360. Around then and 2008, there was nothing but glitched, empty 2Fort servers and a Dustbowl or Hydro server every once in a while. I totally forgot about it until it went F2P lol.

I didn't really get into competitive stuff until around i49, and I didn't really know what was going on so it's all a blur. I finally got around to getting a mic and stuff, so this is my first season actually playing in a league (UGC HL and 6s).

Neat thread!

I started playing TF2 in April of 2011 when it became F2P.

I've been playing competitive since Season 7 of UGC. I used to watch Byte's Streams and stuff and look for Medic tips so I could learn to play. I got picked up from a public game because my team leaders saw me battlemedicing and figured that if I could fight, I could heal. They were wroonnngggg. I had no idea what the Medigun did.

Quite frankly, I still don't know.

Started playing in fall 2010, probabaly have been to every corner of TF2 (pub communities, custom game modes, trade/idle, even "friendly" servers *shudder*). Started playing competitive on a whim since maybe late 2011 when someone in a pub I was a regular in asked me to play medic for the community team. Been playing HL and 6s off and on since then. I get burnt out way too often to stick around and get good, but I keep coming back anyway.

Since it was 7v7, where you could spam rockets/nades forever without running out of rockets. I think it was S2 for ESEA and S1 was TWL. Hell, Cp_well and 2fort were comp maps. I took tons of breaks in seasons however.

Started playing on xbox in spring 2009 knowing nothing about pc gaming. After a few months of playing I came across ubercharged.net where I was introduced to Meatshot Vol 1, Reptile the movie and the entire idea of competitive tf2. Eventually started reading gotfrag and watching pwnage, tgbf and extv. Moved to pc full time late 2010. I think the first team I played for was a terrible highlander team for the community fortress highlander tournament where we lost to mustardoverlord on viaduct.

I got TF2 summer 2011, got into TF2 winter 2011, and had my first real exposure to competitive TF2 during Tip of the Hats 2013. I guess I'm still not fully in since I have yet to play a full season of any format.

First experience with tf2 was back to 2008 with a non steam version. I used to pub when i met Venom from elite Nile gunners. After watching him playing competitive tf2 in 2009 i decided to ask him to be in the clan too they accepted me so i bought the game in november of 2009 just to make an account in etf2l and be in their team!

I started in 2012 May on a different account and played for a little bit then I pretty much quit tf2. It was a pretty long hiatus. I came back In December of 2012 and made a new account dew to forgetting my old account password(lol). I was usually stomping in the pubs I frequented at the time so naturally I looked for better ways to challenge my self. One day I heard people talking about competitive tf2 in the server and I was hooked so I looked up competitive tf2 and I found sal videos with "how to join a pug" I then started to pug in tf2 lobbies with some of the people who frequented our pubs like me. We later proceeded to make a ugc silver team I was soldier. Due to how toxic our team was I decided to leave after 2 seasons. I had always wanted to play scout at the time because I couldn't stand playing pocket anymore on our team. So I started tf2 mix and i46 was the real hook, been playing ever since
