#22 NA Invite Top 100: #10-#6 in News

My comment wasn’t meant to discredit or disparage Bdonski. I guess my question is which holds more weight; individual performance or LAN wins?

But I think as it’s been pointed out the scene and the competition pre and post Mixup/pre and post ESEA LAN are very hard to compare and judge fairly.

Ok so I’ve been away from the scene for a while so maybe I’m just out of the loop but what is it that puts Bdonski ahead of Tyler or Enigma? Bdonski is undeniably one of the best demos to ever touch the game and deserves a top 15 spot but I feel like E and Tyler’s international LAN performances and overall influence on the way their classes and the game in general are played should put them higher on the list.

#5 Songs that have sentimental value to you in Off Topic

Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol reminds me of my first job at Pizza Hut. It must have been popular at the time and would come on the radio in the kitchen. I remember how we would all nonchalantly say to eachother "I think I'll just lay here, guys."

Total Eclipse of the Heart reminds me of driving around with my old roommate. She would sing Bonnie Tyler's part and I would do the male backup vocals.

Of course classic frag video music reminds me of my early TF2 days. Especially the songs from Bloodsire's pyro video. Those really get the nostalgia flowing.

Dream Theater's Images and Words album reminds me of a girl I was with last year. I just happened to put that album on rotation on my phone and was listening to it a lot at that time and now when I hear it I think of Korean BBQ and hot pot and late nights at the beach.

#8 euro soldiers and snipers in TF2 General Discussion

I think Europeans on average tend to play on lower ping (not true for Scandinavians I know) whereas many NA west coast or Canadian players rarely see below 70 ping and ESEA servers seem to add 20 for no good reason. And of course the inverse when east coasters have to play on a the occasional Dallas or Colorado server. This might account for some of this phenomenon if there is any truth to it at all.

Boris and Merzbow - Rock Dream

And Nine Inch Nails' "And All That Could Have Been" is pretty cool.

Go to the Hoover Dam and the bypass bridge. Don't take the paid tour unless you have money to burn. They gutted the tour post 9/11 and it's not really worth the price. But the view from the top of the dam and the bypass bridge is incredible. There are also places nearby in Boulder city where you can do helicopter tours of the grand canyon and skydiving.

You can't go wrong with the "first wave" of black metal. I think for people who don't understand the lofi thing, listening to the first wave will show you what later bands like Darkthrone or whoever were emulating. Venom, the first 3 Bathory albums, Sodom demos, Tormentor, the first Slayer album, Mercyful Fate, Sarcofago, Hellhammer, Bulldozer, early early Kreator and Destruction. There are also bands like Possessed, Messiah, Master, early Sepultura and Death that are usually categorized as death metal but they all existed concurrently in the mid 80s making similar Venom/Slayer inspired music before terms like death and black were defined.

The foundation for everything that exploded out of NY, Sweden, Florida and Norway in the 90s can be found in these bands. The more I listen the more this becomes one of my favorite eras.

Very slowly learning Spanish at work. I can have decent conversations via text and I can understand a lot but speaking it is difficult.

Sometimes it's less busy because of the rain and you get shorter wait times for rides but the rides also tend to break down in the rain.

Just a heads up that it's probably going to rain this weekend through Monday. Pack your umbrellas.

#7 Good games to play whilst listening to music? in Off Topic

I used to mute Vice City and San Andreas (love the soundtracks don't get me wrong) and drive around mindlessly to my own music.
