Of these 2 headsets which would you choose? They are both pretty cheap. I've never had a headset so I dont really know what im supposed to look for. I know there are many better ones out there but I am looking for something cheap like these because my amazon gift card doesnt have much money left on it.

Logitech has notoriously bad headsets. The other one is probably also not worth paying money for.

This is what I use. Really comfy, sounds solid, mic's of decent quality. I would opt for a <$50 headset if sound and mic quality aren't a huge concern. Go for a headphones + mic combo if sound and mic quality are a concern. It's generally the more expensive option unless you buy a junker pair of headphones and a junker mic, but if you're gonna do that, then you might as well just get a headset.

gaming headsets are cheap (and usually poorly made) headsets fitted with a shitty microphone and have an expensive company's logo slapped on them. go for some real headphones and a separate microphone as people have said. i would also recommend expanding your budget slightly so you have something that lasts and sounds good. you planning on using these for just gaming or for other stuff as well?

To answer your question the logitech one is better. Everyone else preaching the combo headphones mic is correct though.

I used a razer carcharias for a long time, and honestly it was pretty good (I still use it for lans). Name brand "gaming" headsets can be good, but even the best ones aren't quite worth the money.

I picked up the Audio Technica AD700s on sale for $99 last year. FANTASTIC set of cans. It wasn't until I tried a set of real headphones that I heard just how poor all the others sounded by comparison. My suggestion is to pick up a real set of headphones (get the AD700s if you can find them). Add a modmic or the zalman clip on mic. Here's a list of what I got.

AD700s - $99
Modmic - $30
Asus Xonar DG soundcard/amp - $30
3.5mm stereo plug (rewired mine) - $5
Cable braid & heat shrink (sleeved my cable & mic wire) - $10
1 can matte black spray paint $5
1 can of clear coat $5
(Had to paint it, pink/beige is a horrible color scheme)

End result: best headset I've ever had

Thanks. It was a little tricky to do. There are guides on how to take it apart for painting, but all the rewiring after looked annoying, so I took it mostly all the way apart, and used plastic bags and blue painters tape to cover everything I didn't want to get paint on (basically just the guts). A few coats of black over a few days, sealed with clear coat.

I've got the SAMSON SR850 which is superlux's OEM and it's fantastic. It's a hardware hack for l4d2 versus. Different game I know but the stereo separation? Soundstage is ultra wide. Haven't tried more expensive headphones but coming from Senn HD202 (yeah low end), it was huge upgrade.

Used the Tt Shock, breaks quickly, has somewhat of a mic problem, wouldn't really recommend getting it.
Would recommend just wait for the ModMic 4.0 (zalman clip-on is pretty good unless you have it next to your mouth, if you wear it on your shirt, people will barely be able to hear you, also ModMic is much, much better), and get yourself a nice pair of headphones.
If budget isn't too much of a problem, I'd recommend going with Sennheiser.

Nah, even a kidney should be enough to get a Sennheiser Orpheus HE90 (Used, top condition only 40,000$, give or take a couple grand)

every gaming headset ive ever bought or tried is terrible. I would recommend spending more money and getting a better quality pair of headphones that will last you a while.

go buy yourself a sennheiser/shure/audio technica/AKG pair of headphones. unless you plan on just using these for gaming, I would recommend buying a good quality pair of headphones. you would not believe how bad the quality of sound coming out of low end headphones is until you buy a good pair.

http://www.amazon.com/AKG-Signature-Reference-Class-Premium-Headphones/dp/B004444O46 one of the best pairs you will get for the price (I realize it's not cheap which is what you asked for)
