what are you favourite upsets and why
we have had some good ones recently in eu with mandem wining poland and DM winning the last season
historically there was also arctic foxes win in season 27 finals although that game featured 3 mercs
TLR beating Reason in s21 was also cool and it resulted in them changing half their roster

the 5th placed frenchies winning the s48 gf against the no1 seeded mandem might technically be the biggest upset in prem history
and, even though they lost the finals, nr beating froyo at the i55 ubf still lives rent free in my head to this day

Preceeding this was the DreamHack TF2 Community Clash 2021 in NA where the asdf mix beat froyo. As per Liquipedia this was their first 2nd place since 2017.
And I mean, if we want to go deeper down the froyotech upset loss rabbit hole, then balls cup team in the RGL Winter Cup the same year. Froyo dropped like a 1-4 loss to them in groups. I still remember the hype around aim's stream back then...good times.

I could name a bunch in the single elimination brackets of the esportsheaven tournaments but I think the losses that the dignitas roster had at I43 losing to both TCM and infused I think caused the team to disband, seemed like a cool team that won a lot of tournaments. So many of the open playoff brackets of esea also have crazy upsets looking and seeing player names that are recognizable but losing to no ones since it was the start of their careers for many of them.

in NA its really tough to beat TSU > 4G, esp cos the previous (arguable) biggest upset ever happened 4 days earlier

TCM (broder) beating immunity in the lower bracket semi final.
Immunity was 2nd seed after groups and broder was 4th, and that's not even mentioning the crazy comeback on granary from a 0-4 with 12 minutes left to a 6-4 that resulted in immunity being knocked out.

You're right about dreamhack cc 2021 being froyo's first second place since 2017. But I think if we're including groups/regular week the 100B upset vs froyo in rgl s2 (it was process 5-3 but 100b were quite dominant if my memory serves right) happened before either of those events if I'm not mistaken? I think that was the first time froyo was beaten in a convincing fashion on a map since maybe the froyo v bloyo s29 regular season process match (which was 5-2 tbf but I think people had much higher expectations from bloyo than 100b)

We can endlessly point out upset wins against froyo, but I think pointing out the individual wins in groups or scrims is insignifcant. I only named the winter cup loss in groups because the core of that roster (iirc) was the predecessor to asdf / GCI and, as we have known it in recent years, wG NA. Hence I think we don't need to mention any more froyo losses in random ass scrims or offis. No hate to your post though, I respect it.
If a good team like froyo loses though, they will always adapt. I haven't been around that long to know how the atmosphere was like in the esea days. However in rgl's case, e.g s3, the whole underperforming habib problem combined with the midszn roster switches between b4nny roamer and yomps scout proved to make them struggle against the mid table invite teams. This gave ascent the possibility to outshine them, but in an ironic tone, they were also constantly switching their players between roles (botmode specifically; no slander tho I love him alot). It wasn't until jay arrived in the team that they had finally solidified their roster for the szn. As per froyo fashion, they were back in high gear, but asdf and eventually wG proved to be "too much" for them. I believe so atleast.
Ceejaey made an excellent video observing this period of froyo's history (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BDyh_QRRVc). I heavily recommend watching it.
