Damn if only RGL could do this. I can only play in HL divs people dedicate their lives to because I played engineer on dying Invite teams with 1 win total and subbed for a whopping 0 matches afterwards on other rosters. Apparently my HL soldier is only allowed to go as low as Advanced even though I never played it

awkward implementation for hl mains but ultimately good to stop endless bickering that would otherwise happen (see Lego Wonderland div2 gf a few seasons ago)

aparently teams have not been informed about this beforehand which screws over a couple of teams plans which is lame :/

I like the concept of this, but not the execution. Unless I've been misinformed, the teams did not know about this beforehand. Asking them to choose between these restrictions or being moved up would be an option, I guess.

These class restrictions happen every season, but have never been posted publicly before. In previous seasons we contacted team leaders individually. The final tiers have not been published yet so teams still have time to request a move up in divisions if they want to play a specific class. By making this information public, we aim to make the community more aware about these restrictions and be more consistent with applying the restrictions.

when else would they publish it other than with provisional tiers? they cant say anything beforehand if they dont know what tiers people are in. besides its obvious you cant smurf on your main in lower divs

What a harsh way to combat sandbagging, which is to do practically nothing. I'm sure I will enjoy my season in mid with players of my skill range ;)

EDIT: nvm i found why

hey everyone, these are provisional tiers only. Im fairly positive now that teams are aware of this, they can make an educated decision, and either comply or ask the admins to be moved up a division

We do have pretty strong sandbagging policies. We're not asking "What's the lowest division could win first place?" We're asking "What's the lowest division that they could compete in?" Because when it comes to sandbagging, if you fuck up and allow someone in too low of a div. You've fucked over an entire division. If you placed a player too high, you fucked over one person and you can always adjust for them next season. And given how much sandbagging has been accepted and prevalent in NA leagues prior to us. I think taking a more cautious approach in favor of the many, not the few, is the better way to go.

You, like me, played engineer at the highest div in HL for a long while. I haven't played comp much recently, but even I got second place in the Advance div. I personally could probably play many classes in Advance competitively, likely not top tier, but probably put up a respectable game. And if a player is able to do that in the div below where they're known to play, then we tend to not drop them below that.

I haven't played with against you personally, so it's possible your an outlier from the things above, but by default, we are trying to be more strict and consistent with sandbagging policies.

if you were to look through our scrims and how regularly we're playing tf2 you'd see why we're in mid :-)

also, imagine complaining about low prem/high players offclassing on their worst class when you have an ex-prem player mainclassing on your roster http://etf2l.org/forum/user/47566/

also, imagine complaining about low prem/high players offclassing on their worst class when you have an ex-prem player mainclassing on your roster http://etf2l.org/forum/user/47566/

you know that anybody would prefer 2 prem offclassing on his team than 1 mainclassing right ?
you do have : cookye fuckin god scout, played billion prem seasons, who is allowed to play scout (???????)
3 other prem players, who won div1, apparently losing 3 divisions if they go from a class to another
Miju, who played div1 few times, being restricted while cookye isn't (still ?????????)
may be okay for the last finnish as i checked is in mid already

many problems :

1- when you play prem, you gain an experience that makes you get better really quick and and your gamesense doesn't change if you're switching to another class, you gain a prem gamesense. That's the experience
2- The aim you get from this experience, is not a class-specific one, usually, and in most cases, good soldiers can play scout, good demo can play soldier, good medic... well it's more rare, but you can find good medic having their habits on demo (demos, menty...)
3- just cookye ffs, you can't say "ho they have profix" when you have monster-killer weebo lord aim machine cookye who is allowed to play scout
4- just why are you forcing Zamparonie to not play engineer, it's not like he could 500 dpm every game of low with the power of his sentry.

Just why ? and how did you thought it was the good way to prevent sandbagging ? from my point of view, which is obviously not the truth, it seems you just wanted to go mid or it was just april fools; a month later.

Cookye isnt playing for them, has played the game twice this entire year, which they obv know so they presumably didnt feel bothered to include in the list of restricted players

cookye isn't playing for us and hasn't played the game properly in over half a year. Even when he played for us 2-3 seasons ago he wasn't really outstanding as he used to be, just a regular player.

Your points about our aim/experience are completely disproven if you just look at our scrim results, we've lost all games quite convincingly against div2/mid teams besides one that we've tied, so obviously our "prem gamesense and aim" really hasn't transferred over. Furthermore, you're just assuming that every player that is good at one class is automatically not bad at another, which really varies from player to player.

Also, why are you asking me admin questions about Zamparonie for example when I'm not even an admin?

also rip to digess blif, not allowed to sandbag open on soldier, as he played once low playoffs.
open is now safe of digess blif's soldier (?).

@Menty my bad if you're not an admin, so @ETF2L why are you stoping someone who plays engineer in highlander, to play engineer in 6's, have you played the class enough to know that you just can't carry a game while playing engi in 6's ?
most of these restrictions just seems random to me

I don't really understand why this rule is a thing for some of the offclasses on last/during stalemates that people would only run for 2-3 minutes on average per game (Pyro, Heavy, Spy, Engineer, Sniper to a lesser extent). For a class like Engineer most of the cheese unlocks are banned in 6s anyway, so what does banning people from playing that class accomplish exactly?

Also does me not being allowed to play Spy also mean I can't check the medigun at the start of the game lol

Jynxiistopping a literal heavy main from playing heavy in 6s..

A team that ran a perma heavy on product came 3rd in low last season.

GazThere are people that are being stopped from playing engineer and spy what the fuck am I reading

All of these seemingly pointless highlander restrictions are for the sake of consistency, and are only a thing in the low division.
