ReeroThis is the problem. When people judge posts by frag count and let it sway their decision to contribute to a discussion.

If you let the prospect of getting downfragged keep you from posting your opinion, it was never strong enough to be worth posting to begin with.

It's certainly in the realm of possibility that someone could have a strong argument but is also just insecure of themselves and can make the mistake of taking down frags to heart

well the entire thing is enhanced by the fact that people, often irrelevant to the original discussion, seem to believe that -frags should lead to the poster ceasing their posting. i commonly see people drop the good ol "just stop posting". sure, you could argue that this is a mere correlation, that bad posts are minus fragged and bad posters should stop posting. i don't believe the two are disconnected though, and as much as you wanna blame it on the minusfragged's lack of thick skin i really do believe it inevitably kills intelligent discussion.

i mean, the frags are there, we can all see them. implying they mean nothing is stupid.

Who gives a shit, if you get -fragged, just see it as a badge of honour that x amount of people can't stand your opinion or person, but are too lazy/dumb to reply properly.

Minus frags mean people don't like your posts. IRL, people rolling their eyes or chuckle when you say something dumb is the same thing. Whether you keep posting or not is up to you, your skin and your conviction.
It doesn't "kill intelligent discussion" to be able to know if people like or don't like what you're saying.
Also, if the majority of people reading a post actually minusfrag it because they don't want to read anything else by that person, and that person stops posting because of it, that only means a majority of people will be happy.

This is also not related to Donald Trump, although fragging him sure would be nice :^)

cuteteaDefund Planned Parenthood? They provide health care coverage for so many people in the US, as if things weren't bad enough. The Planned Parenthood issue is mostly people arguing about abortion, which is as productive as arguing about gun control.
cuteteaAs for the reasons you brought up why Bernie's policies won't work - yeah they will, just like they do in so many other countries all over the world. You know where people live in the first world but also have access to first world health care, unlike the US. By taxing the wealthiest top percentage that won't live long enough to notice the difference in money they have."It'll obviously work in America, a place completely different than any other country, because I say it will."
cuteteaHe doesn't agree with spending money on education or health care, but spending much more on killing people, either in his own country or someone else's country. Nice!Context, what is it?
cuteteaBut yeah honestly you have been nothing less than a scumbag to me in the past for no reason, so I'm not surprised your political beliefs are scummy too. Mister "$layer", arguing in favour of someone like Trump over those damn career politicians suits even your name."Anyone who has political beliefs different than mine are instantly scummy. Also, I'll insult you personally for having opinions because I'm progressive like that."

this post is a shitpost because u implied americans are untermensch retards who can somehow manage to fuck up a system countries with weaker economies and more varied political parties can pull off without actually explaining why america is the shittiest first world country

also if u support trump you ARE an asshole there's really no way to get out of supporting a racist

This post is a shitpost because you are too vague. What specific changes are you even talking about? How many other factors were in play? I remember reading smaka's post about gun control where he put it nicely - in the end, it doesn't matter how many countries it works for, those countries aren't America. How far will we go to carry out something that is basically one big experiment?

eeealso if u support trump you ARE an asshole there's really no way to get out of supporting a racist

I don't support Trump.

Oh lord what have I done, allow me to continue to further paint the excrement on the walls of this forums by inviting young debaters to gauge this point. At this point it all exists for my own amusement.

It is interesting that Donald's Trump's immigration policies get a lot of widespread attention, however he is also a strong climate change denier and does not believe in it

Whilst his views on immigration are best laughable and only likely to serve in his role of gaining the xenophobic vote of America and at worst, dangerous, surely his views on climate change are more so a danger to all of humanity, to have the leader of the 2nd biggest polluter and a major global economic power completely ignorant to the biggest threat facing humanity is quite shocking, no longer just a danger to Muslims but a danger to all of humanity.

what seprates america from the rest of the developed world?either we cant work a system that *everyone* else can,or we can and chose not to

Every country/state is different. Things from population, territory, and geography to income, education, and health help define a country. It's not just "these countries are all industrialized therefore they are all the same." It's not as black and white as that.

@cutetea, someone linked me your youtube channel. Funny how you call me a whiteknight when you apparently need them by your side to feel good about yourself.

Meanwhile, the Dem voterbase isn't even given the illusion of choice:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/dnc-sanders-campaign-improperly-accessed-clinton-voter-data/2015/12/17/a2e2e14e-a522-11e5-b53d-972e2751f433_story.htmlofficial also stressed that the breach was the fault of the vendor NGP VAN — not the DNC. Still, the DNC is ultimately considered responsible for the security of the NGP VAN.

The Sanders campaign also laid the blame at the feet of NGP VAN. "Sadly, the vendor who runs the DNC's voter file program continues to make serious errors," Michael Briggs, Sanders's top communications aide, told BuzzFeed News.

"On more than one occasion, the vendor has dropped the firewall between the data of different Democratic campaigns. Our campaign months ago alerted the DNC to the fact that campaign data was being made available to other campaigns," said Briggs. "At that time our campaign did not run to the media, relying instead on assurances from the vendor."

The Sanders aide who accessed the Clinton campaign data has been fired, Briggs said.

The incident could pose a devastating setback for Sanders so close to the start of the Democratic primary: Until access is restored to the NGP VAN, the candidate’s organizers will have to perform the basic functions of the field program — phone banks, voter contact, visibility — without an electronic system centralizing their efforts.

"After discussion with the DNC it became clear that one of our staffers accessed some modeling data from another campaign," he said. "That behavior is unacceptable and that staffer was immediately fired."

Miranda said that the party has directed the NGP VAN to “conduct a thorough analysis to identify any users who accessed the data, what actions they took in the system, and to report on the findings to the Party and any affected campaign.”

The organization will also begin a review process with every Democratic campaign and NGP VAN user, said Miranda, to “ensure they understand and abide by the rules governing the use of the system.”

I feel bad for Bernie sanders now, his voter-base found and reported a software bug so the campaign can't run for six weeks, it's like Ron Paul in 2012 all over again.

Anybody who is genuinely curious why Trump is doing so well in the polls, Scott Adams (Dilbert cartoonist, not a Trump supporter if you're worried about bias) has been blogging for months about his rhetorical strategies & why they are so effective:
http://blog.dilbert.com/tagged/Trump

some of the better ones imo

http://blog.dilbert.com/post/127793580186/trump-and-godwins-law
or TL;DR in Adams' words: "Does the boring candidate ever win? No."

Love him or hate him, the reality is that Trump is manhandling the media in the way that has possibly never been seen before in ANY country's elections. He might seem bumbling but I would hazard that every aspect of his public image is completely intentional. The usual political pundits and whatnot don't get it simply because they've never seen it before. You have to keep in mind that this man has been in the media for many many years, he understands public perception on a very deep level. Also worth noting that until some point in the 80s, Trump's public persona was much more subdued. It wasn't until he started clowning around with pro wrestlers that he became the loudmouth Trump we see today. That was surely intentional too.

An example - I doubt many of you watched the most recent Republican primary debate (I did, it was way too long and boring) - but for those who did, 90% of people will only remember one part: Jeb Bush telling Trump "you can't become president by insulting everybody" and Trump responding "I'm at 42% and you're at 3%, so tell me if it's working" or something along those lines.

edit: sorry I'm getting boring here, but another thing - if Trump was an idiot he would never be able to pull this off
