the point is that there are certain breeding grounds for this sort of extreme anti-islamic, anti-semitic, anti-black etc. ideology that results in so many of these extreme right wing mass shootings

obviously only 1 out of every like hundred thousand people with these sort of views ends up acting on them but it's not a coincidence that it always seems to turn out that these deranged shooters congregate in the same online spaces, are fans of the same figures, and parrot the same nonsense (great replacement, demographic threat, cultural marxism, soros, etc.)

It's not about giving this one specific guy attention or making him out to be some sort of tragic figure or any stupid shit like that, it's about pointing out the ideology that leads to this sort of thing

I don't expect any less of an asinine response from someone who clearly doesn't have any education in fucking world history.

apparently the scum who did it had written the name of an 11 year old kid who died in the stockholm terror attack on one of the weapons.

people who did this or other attacks are plain fucked in the head, no matter who it targets when theres needless loss of human lives

all the same people who usually rush to find out whether or not the shooter shouted "allah akbar" are now pretending theres absolutely no correlation when he literally gave candace owens and pals a shoutout.

AnaThonat the astounding rate pewdiepie is normalizing racism and overall far right ideology it's not wonder that he'd be namedropped at some point by one of these people

What? PewDiePie did not cause this nutjob to commit a mass shooting and probably had absolutely nothing to with it. The guy namedropped PewDiePie because he knew it would result in people reacting like this, looking for an easy scapegoat. You are jumping to foolish conclusions.

This shooting was the result of many different contributing factors built over a number of years by a very messed up individual. Consider these things before scapegoating a youtuber to who made a few edgy jokes.

seen some twitter folks say "don't talk about it, he just wants fame and glory and doesn't deserve it" and while yeah that's why some folks tend to go out by shooting shit up, when it's politically driven like this one it's pretty important to remember shit some ideologies can make you believe and even go as far as to act on it
it's like saying "forget about the holocaust, nazis only wanted attention"

i think this sort of solidifies the whole mass shooter as a meme culture kinda thing and i wouldnt be surprised if in the near future you had situations where people are gonna live stream it on twitch and theyre gonna say dumb shit like ‘for teh lulz!’ purely just to be remembered

sorta stems from the shit people have been saying school shooter jokes like ‘hes got the school shooter haircut!!’ and turning the idea of mass shooting into a meme where its funny this sort of shit comes from there

and im not saying that this ones purley because of that because he obv targetted muslims specifically which was the obv main reason why he did this but the rest of it was just him marketting himself to be remembered. ‘subscribe to pewdiepie’ is gonna be the next meme in mainstream internet

dumb question because racists are bad with or without "malicious intent", most of them arent gonna go attack people like this. and yeah the PUBG incident was racist.
i agree with funhaver though, pewdiepie didnt inspire this, he is just unfortunately linked to the "edgy meme" culture that the alt right love so much

Don't blame the wars we finance, the climate change we cause, or the brutal regimes we sell weapons to for this wave of migrants and refugees. Blame the migrants and refugees. Don't blame our political stooges cutting social programs to give ourselves tax cuts for your shitty life, blame the brown people "taking your jobs." Hate each other. Fear muslims, fear migrants, fear liberals, fear the gays, fear the socialists. It's the same old story. Your life is miserable because society does nothing for you and everything for us. Make sure you hate them, they're your enemy. Just whatever you do, don't turn that outrage against us.

Of course, when we scapegoat a minority long enough, eventually impressionable brainwashed young people do things like this. It's a shame. We'll express outrage and shock, send thoughts and prayers. But we know what we're doing and we will keep doing it. It keeps you angry at each other, and not at us.

i don't like the use of the n-word and get uncomfortable when it is said around me, but do you not think equating an expression of frustration made in game to racism undermines the importance of fighting actual racism?

i assume from your relatively immature response you disagree that making racist jokes is not as bad as actively saying you want to kill black people. if we're really going by that logic then what are we allowed to joke about anymore? if someone makes a fat joke is that the same as saying all fat people should be euthanised?

pewdiepie never made a "joke". he called someone the n-word cos he killed his friend in a game lol. if your first instinct when upset (especially over something so irrelevant) is to call someone a racial slur, you might be a racist

Exactly. Obviously physically attacking people is way, way, way worse than using slurs, everyone knows that. But they're both still "actual racism".

Like, just because there's people dumping toxic waste into our oceans doesn't mean you can't criticise the person dropping litter in the park.
