Hi everyone, tri here. With the Invite Illuminati meeting and New Map Showcase behind us, there has been discussion about revamping the map pool by replacing at least 1 of the least popular maps with new maps currently in development. The two most popular and league-ready maps to come out of the map tournament have been propoganda and logjam so these are the ones that we will consider adding to the rotation.

Regarding how to change the map pool, what does everyone think is the best way to decide on the map pool. Should there be an on-site map vote as we have done in the past? Should we remove the maps that were statistically the most banned during the season? Please vote in this poll if you think the map pool should be adjusted and discuss whether the map pool needs to be changed and what is the best way to do so going forward I hope you enjoyed reading this essay as much as i enjoyed writing it bye

can we assume map banning will no longer be a thing if we're using the word "rotation"?

tbh we should remove viaduct and add one of the new maps (imo propaganda looked like the best but i only saw it through spectators eyes) to make it a more uniform map pool and make it easier on teams since we all have to scrim like 2-3 different maps a night now, it's much easier to go from snakewater to metalworks then it is to go from process to viaduct. also i feel like we should either remove 2 maps from the pool or add another banning stage to the vetos for regular season matches to remove some of the RNG for matches. IMO i think the ideal map pool for next season would be process, gullywash, snakewater, metalworks, sunshine, propaganda, and badlands or keep granary and cardinal in the rotation and let each team ban 4 maps.

I think both logjam and propaganda would be very suitable next season. I know both myself and Quantum are very dedicated and would do our absolute best to make the maps as good as we can for you guys.

I know logjam isn't perfect, I know some of you guys have issues with it - but we can fix these issues. It's come a ridiculously long way, and though it's not perfect I think it's certainly ready to go. Would appreciate any and all feedback, and would be very excited to see the map in rotation of course as that's going to be the best way to really improve the map. Maybe it would hurt a little bit this next season, but it would help in seasons beyond - let's get rid of the stale stuff we have and find something fresh.

whatever happens please keep via
literally the most fast-paced and fun to watch/play map in the rotation
having only 1 koth map in the pool isnt actually a problem (but adding more quality koth maps would be cool)

What if we tried removing cardinal in favor of propaganda or logjam, and tried prolands? From what I've seen in prem games on prolands it looked like many of the issues badlands has were fixed with prolands.

FFS can we PLEASE get weekly maps instead of this pick ban system? Nobody is going to want to play the new maps if we don't get at least a full week to play them.

IDK about other teams, but mine always vetoes Product because you can't get as many match points as 5cp.

ScrewballFFS can we PLEASE get weekly maps instead of this pick ban system? Nobody is going to want to play the new maps if we don't get at least a full week to play them.

the old system is so awful though, it forces you to play maps that your team doesn't like playing or isn't as good at playstyle wise and you're at the mercy of the pool. if you have a close match coming up against a team that you can beat on some maps but lose to on others in scrims wouldn't you want to do everything in your power to make sure that you wind up on your best map instead of just being like "oh fuck we play this team on our worst map." and while yeah you're scrimming the same map all week leading up to the match some teams literally have playstyles that are just not as good on some maps, like how teams with really good soldiers and weaker scouts would probably pick metalworks over process

would you rather play your important match in a map that you and your team have played countless times over the years or the new map you have only played like a few times at most

again, how do they expect to play new maps in league play for feedback if people can just choose to not play them

Nobody wanted new maps because all new maps had rare updates to them and not much support from the creator. The creators of logjam and propaganda are both very open to updating it to make it better towards comp play, even updating it a day after the map showcase. Removing 3 maps, dropping map pool down to 8 maps so that there is less maps needed to scrim, and adding 2 new maps replacing the old ones that are never being updated with old issues still, would be perfect for spectators, and players.

people hate change and map picks give people the option to avoid change, this is not the way to progress the map pool.

This is so wrong. This should encourage change. If you want to you can ban snake gully and process and only practice the other maps. Gives teams so many options and forces teams to practice more.

Meanwhile back in reality we didn't play the new map from last season at all and ended up playing the same 3 maps over and over again. As a matter of fact that was the experience for most of the teams. In the end we ended up playing metalworks 5 times.
