ZetosZetosI tried adding the class selection from QTCHUD to mine, but it's missing the black borders...

It loads fine when the whole HUD is in there, but I'm not sure what's missing. Tried copying the classselection file and the whole vgui/replay/thumbnails/ folder, but it's not a missing texture.

And another question: I changed my chat position with basechat.res' "HudChat" ypos/xpos, but it usually resets itself to the lower part*, unless I do a hud_reloadscheme, which doesn't last for long.

when the matchmaking doors open and shut it triggers an event in hudanimations that moves the chat, it has chat in the name so just search for that and change the ypos

for the borders they might be borders defined in clientscheme so you will need to copy them over as well, try and find the controls in classselection.res that define the borders and you will be able to cross reference them back to the clientscheme

Granted that my HUD is updated and uses hudanimations_manifest so that the default stuff doesn't have to be listed there, there are no "chat" entries in my hudanimations_custom. I suppose I could just copy the default chat stuff from the source and change what I wanted, right? Do you happen to know where I can extract that snippet? Improved Default HUD doesn't have it, and the github that tracks the core files isn't working.

The repo was split up. Here's hudanimations_tf.txt. IIRC you can make an event with just braces in your custom animation file to disable it.

I always have this bar in the middle of my screen. I was playing on a jump server before which is why the timer is there but if I just hop into a pub without going into any community servers it's still there but it's just a tiny black box. Does anyone know how to fix this?

RausOkay, this is really miffing me, as it seems most popular huds fail to render the item effect meter label colors as they should be rendered... (When clearly they are rendered correctly in their screenshots)

Does anybody know anything at all what's the problem?

That number tells you what your max (non buffed) health can be, if you want to remove it do:
resource/ui/HudPlayerHealth.res > PlayerStatusMaxHealthValue > wide 0

you may be missing a file

the one that controls that is called pvprankpanel.res

Some huds pull up all the files and with a game update, unless edited, those files still read from the game. Which is why it's always wise to just grab the files that you need when you're first making a hud and not all of them (also use base as Wiethoofd will tell you because it makes things easier).

Take resource/ui/controlpointicon.res and the materials/sprites/obj_icons folder from the other HUD and put it into yours.

This has plagued me for a while:

itemeffectlabel in huditemeffectmeter isn't rendering as the color I set it to since Jungle Inferno. I also can't create another element because #TF_BALL won't change to SANDVICH or CLOAK or BALL or whatever it should be.

Any workarounds found?

I had this issue for a while. Turns out Valve made a new file for Phlog with JI because it would overlap with Gas Passer. huditemeffectmeter_pyro.res is the new file. Look it up in the default HUD or just copy/paste and rename.

Is there any way to make the game refresh the main menu without quitting and restarting the game? It's really frustrating to have to keep rebooting the game just to move one element to the position you want it in. Help appreciated.

change the mat_antialias values in console from 0 to 1 and back again every time you make an edit, and make sure vgui_cache_res_files is set to 0
